Discussion at work today - Banning FCS games

Not only balancing your budget to fund many other sports, student-athletes but getting exposure for your university. No brainer for them.

Are they really balancing your budget? You get a $400K payout in which half goes to travel, lodging, and meals so you are really walking away with $200K, bruised egos, and injuries.

Here's hoping it bites them in the butt this year.

Nothing better than watching the Gayturd drop a FCS game to Idaho. No way I would ever let me in-laws no hear about that ****e for years. Just like when they lost to Georgia Southern.

Even if they win them both, I hope they end up with 6 wins, and can’t go to a bowl because of it.

I don't mind it, as long as it'sin the first couple weeks of the season. What bothers me is the schools that play these teams the second to last week of the season. That's what the college football grind is all about. It's like an NFL team playing a college team in week 16 when the playoff hunt is at it's best. It devalues the product on the field.

My thing is this, if you need to rely upon 1 game to balance your entire budget for the year, maybe just maybe your school shouldnt be offering athletics.

That a lot of oppurtunities your taking away from those kids just because you dont like something.

For many FCS schools that payout is the only way they can afford to field a team. BUT, I do think limiting to 1 FCS school/year would be a good idea.

It’s needed for the FCS school. A lot of money from 1 game keeps afloat most athletic departments. But each FBS school I agree should only be able to schedule 1 per year. Also only one G5 school too.

Nothing wrong with it. Benefits the FCS school monetarily, but penalizes the FBS school if they play multiple. Only one counts towards a bowl, and say, UF wouldn't get in the playoff over another SEC school with the same record because of it.

FCS programs can award up to the equivalent of 63 full scholarships, divided among no more than 85 individuals.

Think of how many kids wouldn't have the opportunity to go to college if FCS games are cancelled. Keeping FCS programs alive is one of the few redeeming qualities left of "amateur" athletics.

David has beaten Goliath enough times to give teams hope.

App State vs MI
Georgia Southern vs UF
Citadel over USCe
James Madison over VT
Old Dominion over VT

Since those kinds of nonsensical lopsided beatdown games are allowed,....

Why not also sanction heavyweights to fight featherweights twice a year ...with unlimited knockdowns..since the lightest boxing weights make little money.

Cmon we all know its done mostly to pad records ...not to help the small school.

I am not in favor of banding; I believe NYstateofmind would agree with me as well.

Now there’s an idea that exceeds its grasp.

Im a fan of it actually. Not all our blowouts...**** Clemson made us look fcs 2 or 3 times already who cares.

Only 1 of them wins count....it funds alot of sport departments, exposure and film for those kids and good environment.

I work with a few people that attended or played football at FBS schools and the discussion was surrounded by UF playing 2 FCS games this year.

My opinion is FBS teams shouldnt be allowed to play FCS schools.

Your thoughts???

I like the idea Manny had. Play the FCS teams for P5 spring games

And offer less kids around the country the option to play D1 athletics and get a free education? Brilliant idea.

As strength of schedule becomes increasingly more weighted in CFBPO rankings, FCS matchups will be first casualty with elite teams always in the running.

UNLESS, CFBPO expand field to most/all conference champions.

It's a bigger benefit for the FCS team. Even though FBS is obviously the better of the two, its in everyone's interest to have a healthy FCS.

Just wait until one of these 150lb FCS running backs gets a career ending injury from getting hammered by a Bama or Clemson DL/LB all game. Then see how good it was for them.
