Dawson Rumor

The old path to becoming a HC at a big time program isn’t the reality anymore. As programs want to fast track success, the trend has been to take top notch coordinators from the big time elite programs. Lanning, Venables, Kirby, Sark, etc.

I think the climate is changing more than ya’ll think. I’m not saying you’ll look up and he’ll be the head coach at Taint or Alabama. But he can 100% get a better gig than va tech if it falls right
I guess it's more depend if he's also looking for Cultural Fit as well. UCLA imo is a better job than VTech. And they also have decently low expectations. But they are an absolute mess right now. IF Fisch took UF job, UW would be a great opening for any coach.

I could see maybe some coaching leaving for NFL jobs. I could see Dawson continuing the Miami to SMU pipeline if Lashles ends up going to Arkansas.

But I wasn't so much asking if he can get a good job and more asking do you think he wants a HC job more than just being the highest paid OC...

Nice to have you back on board, my man. Is Dawson a guy gunning for a high level P4 HC job? I thought the word on the street with him was that he wasn't the type.

Players at Georgia swear by Schuman .Brilliamt X , O guy and very likable . He’ll be a star
I was told by somebody I coached with who coached with him that he was very smart but a bit of an odd bird but that was also about 10 years ago so things probably have changed since he got to Georgia

Beamer and USCe are going to be extremely soured before this year is up

Mike Shula was the worst OC hire I’ve ever seen and it’s playing out exactly as expected
I agree, especially if Sellers goes pro he might look to get out before they send him out. All depends what kind of investment VT is willing to put into the program.

I had to do a double take when I saw him in their first game. Could not believe someone resurrected Mike Shula as an OC.

Certainly wont blame him if he chooses to bet on himself and take a HC job but he's set up very nicely here. Make ~$2M (i'm guessing which prob goes up further after this year) with a practically guaranteed top-5 OL, $3-4M to spend on top portal QB, and Mario to croot you playmakers every year.

Dawson has done a great job. However it’s an easier job when we recruit like we have. If Mario finds someone similar who can include variations of the running game, draws, etc I think k this offense can go to even higher level. As good as Dawson has been there is room to grow. If he leaves the unknown is who does Mario bring in but he has proven himself to be very careful and tedious with his process. Plus with more success the choices should be more qualified.
Imagine if defenses had to worry about runs to the outside, draws, screens, TEs
