David Shaw calls plays at Stanford....

Jimbo Fisher calls the plays at FSU. Larry Fedora calls the plays at UNC. Bobby Petrino calls the plays at Louisville.

What's your point?

Fisher's offense is pedestrian when viewed in light of his top 5 recruiting classes every year. If they had a quality OC they'd destroy teams.

UNC has a unique system where they script a lot of their plays including on most early downs. Fedora has never been the playcaller there, so I don't know where you got that info. Their QB coach and OL coach share that duty, and Fedora has some input. Prior to this season, Littrell called the plays there.

Petrino is on an entirely different level. He's known as one of the best playcallers in the history of the sport, and he's said to have a photographic memory. If he was our HC I'd love for him to call plays. Like I said, it's a tough racket, but it's not impossible. Petrino is on a whole different level though.

Yet his best gig is Louisville.

Let me get this straight. You don't think Petrino is elite?

Saban and Meyer are Elite. So the question is do you think Petrino is Elite?

The guy took a ******* conference USA job and parlayed it into an NFL job. Makes Arkansas a top 5-10 program, now is doing the same at Louisville.

Give him a big program like Urban and Saban and the guy could build a dynasty.

GIVE HIM a big program? No mother ****** you earn a big program.

Have all the guys responding in here sustained blunt force head trauma?

How does having a Heisman level player justify Alabama's D and STs outscoring Shaw's offense?

Mcaffrey isn't that good. He was running the holes my grandma could score on. Those holes? They arent there this year, man.

Losing Garnett and Murphy was huge for them.

You just don't easily replace hosses like that man.

Stanford isn't Wisconsin. They were never known for Lineman until Shaw and harbaugh built that rep for them.

LoL at calling them a factory.

LOL at you not acknowledging that Stanford has been an OL factory. I'm not talking about the fcking Buddy Teevins days. I'm talking Harbaugh/Shaw. They've been an absolute factory there over the last several years.

LOL at McCaffery not being that good.

Are some of these guys really this dense?I'm amazed at the lack of the knowledge of cfb and other teams.

Mccaffery is a stud , great vision that constantly makes his own hole with quick cutbacks . Also has legit 44.8 -4.5 speed . I guess that ol is why he put up 300+ yards per game . With a ton of big kick and punt returns.

McCaffery set the NCAA single season all-purpose yardage record, but he's "not that good." He broke Barry Sanders' fcking record. But he's "not that good." These dudes have been clubbed about the head repeatedly.

Barry Sanders never won a superbowl, he sucked.

Bless us with your superior football acumen and explain to us why Petrino isn't an elite coach

For a opening post that seemed pretty self-evident in its point, you guys have really gone buck wild.

So a guy who has never even won a P5 conference title is Elite? I didn't say National Title I said Conference Title.

**** he didn't even win the SEC West and hasn't won the ACC Atlantic. And please don't make excuses for what team he coaches it's embarrassing. I think you have confused Elite Coach and Very good coach.

Didn't EVEN win the best division in college football in his first 4 years? That's a poor measuring stick

The mans offenses are fabulous when he has things rolling.

His defenses are usually **** and he still has an offense good enough to carry his teams to success. He's on another level calling offenses

He's coaching Louisville because of off the field issues of you aren't aware

Rich Rod, Dana Holgerson, Hugh Freeze, Brian Kelly, Dan Mullen, Dino Babers,Mike Leach, Jeff Brohm, Kliff Kingsbury, Paul Chryst these guys have had moderate to very good results.

BTW McCaffery is a STUD.

Good list, but the list of guys currently failing at it is much longer.

And the Mumme Air Raid guy's don't count because they don't even have playbooks. They have about 5 plays with different options for the WR and QB based on the coverage they see.

He's not elite because he coaches at Louisville. Sound logic.

Hes elite.... but it took 3 years to get an offense rolling and his best qb is Ryan Mallett.

But hes a savant whose better than richt?

You seriously cant make this shid up
