David Feeley & S&C: Miami is much Smaller, far less physical, slower and less intimidating than Bama

OG Javion Cohen 6'4 320
C Chris Owens 6'2 310
OG Emil Ekiyor 6'3 324
RT Kendall Randol 6'3 298

UM
  • LT: Zion Nelson 6'5 320
  • LG: Jalen Rivers 6'5 325
  • C: Corey Gaynor 6'4 308
  • RG: Navaughn Donaldson 6'5 350
  • RT: Delone Scaife 6'3 306 or Jarrid Williams 6'6 310

Well our OL was as big or bigger except for Neal.

Tyrique is bigger than any corner they have.

They are better coached and better players. That's why they won. Not because Feely isn't good enough.

Oh boy CIS at it's finest.
Does size matter? Only the ladies can really attest to that. Lol

We’re not that far off size-wise. The difference in “talent”, coaching, and scheme is what separates Baga from others. They’re loaded with high 4 and 5* players and have an ingrained culture established for years - even pre-Sabag, No CFB team in the country can match what they have.

Height and weight from the media guide doesn't tell the whole story. The only Miami OL with any mass is Donaldson. Bama's OL were shoving our DL to the ground and down-blocking them through the ground. They lift different weights.

Bigger players & we would still get the same results…it all starts with Manny..we play fake tough man football…Manny can’t motivate the kids…who running through a brick wall for him…practice probably ain’t as hard as it should be & he (Manny) don’t strike fear in no one…it’s all about that mental toughness..what does it take to break you..we used to have that in this program now we are a mentally weak program….

Muscle weighs more than fat. players were bigger, faaar stronger, more defined.

Just Look at Mallory, Donaldson…Harley…Scaife.

Bama made us look like a MEAC

Our DLmen were small. Our WRs were small lining up vs Bama DBs.

If you don’t believe me, go find Tyreke’s quote. He said something like the only difference between Georgia and Miami is Georgia guys were way bigger. It’s true.
Somewhat tru and some not -
- Our D line is mixed, as Ford and miller and Leonard taylor are large for 4-3 D tackles, harrison hunt (weight) & nesta undersized (nesta height), but are more penetrating, first step D tackles, fitting in with Team speed, flying to the ball.

- Our D ends are a bit undersized, but again speed off the edge, and sometimes asked to drop into coverage.

- Linebacker is small both height/length and weight. Striker are not far off but a bit small

- Corners are good size with length. Ivey looks the part but doesn't have that mentality of physical mentality like Stevenson does, and Blades doesn't either, but blades is long and athletic and fits playing press man coverage. Couch has good length, tackles and is our best in coverage. he plays bigger than he is.

- Safety we are larger to average size. Bubba, James W, K washington are long and big. Gurvan good length, but under weight but plays bigger. Same with Avantae W, but I don't think either are that good in pass coverage. They come and make plays downhill and tackle as good as anyone. Kam Kitchens is perfect size, and reminds me most of Ed Reed of all the safeties they have had.

- O line has the size and length and athleticism. Our guards are above average size. Our center average to just above. Zion has good length and great athleticism. For them its about mentality. Guys that want to bang. We are soft in the run game, so I don't know why we keep forcing inside zone off the guard run pays. Can't we get off tackle run plays in this scheme?

- WR's are mixed with harley, pope undersized, but Rambo, brinson, george, Redding, restrepo (for slot), washington are average to above average with speed.

You guys are letting yourselves get all worked up by OP who seems to be here for other purposes.

donaldson & J Rivers are well above average. Our line size weight, height athleticism is fine. Look at NFL linemen, as they usually want them 305-310 range, lean, quick and powerful. It comes down to communication as a unit and having a dog mentality, which I don't think our guys have. they meet the measurables.

Shocking, that a team that has won 5 National Championships and played in 7 out of the last 10 are bigger and stronger. It also couldnt be that they have had the #1 recruiting class 2 out of 3 years (other was #2) and 14 5 stars 58 4 stars and only 7 3 stars in that time period.

While they are more physically imposing, the bigger issues are, we are a very poor tackling team which makes us look weak, and we struggle to run the ball well up the middle which makes us look weak.
If we tackled better and ran the ball better, we wouldn't be talking about this.

yeah...we don't match up physically to Bama

but its the lack of coaching that's the biggest problem

why would you ever run a 3 man front on a bigger team? AND have no containment outside.... PATHETIC

the result...a 21 yard TD run🥺😁😁😁

Ole Miss and UL players all looked fuggin jacked Monday night. Not sure how many guys we have that are legit cut from stone or does that really matter? Just seems both teams were filled with them and we have Cam Harris.
Cam Harris is built like a bodybuilder. This is a terrible example lmao.

Since we’re on the subject. Bama has a SC director guy named Dr. Matt rhea who seems to be making waves. He’s taken the hard nosed approach they had with Cochran and changed it to science. He’s in their “sport science” department. Supposedly a genius or something. Saban lost Cochran but actually came out on top. This new guy has reduced soft tissue injuries by like 30% or something. Maybe higher. They’re truly ahead in every way. This will be the new norm for the top programs. Hopefully we can compete.
Saban fired Cochran and let him leave on top to the public eye.
Rhea and Ballou are a package deal, they're the best in the b'ness, Dylan Moses knew them from IMG and rec'd them to Saban.
Rhea does the science/programming, Ballou does the technique/application. They're power and speed focused vs. strength and condo.
UGA is still doing the "4 quarter program" from Bama, Bama isn't even doing that program any more. Adapt or die.

If football is in 3 parts: acquisition, development and deployment...
Bama has almost 30% more blue chip players than Miami
Bama has the best S&C coaches in CFB, Miami has a JAG
Saban is the best coach in CFB history, Miami has Manny Diaz

Cam Harris is built like a bodybuilder. This is a terrible example lmao.
Hahah it was such a bad example he actually deleted it from this thread.

Like when guys in this thread keep mentioning how much bigger Bama was when it's just not true. Better coached he'll yeah but bigger not really.

we have lacked explosive strength since B,Davis S&C staff left. we are in the dark ages when it comes to explosive strength.
we always get man handled at LOS on both sides of ball period....
time for a deep dive into what we are doing wrong in S &C....
