DAILY DEBATE: Who will be Miami’s quarterback in 2026?

Backup for this season if it's to come in for 1-2 games? Emory. If it's to come in 3+ games? Nickel.

So I don't see any way Emory could be our starter next yr. Most likely it'll be another portal QB. But definitely 2027 should be Nickel or Coleman If think

It would be the worst offseason we've ever had if they decide to pass on the portal to ride with Emory (or Judd) in 26.

There would be 8 months of civil war on the boards. Longtime posters would get banned. No amount of sunshine pumping would be enough to change anyone's mind. And when Emory ***** the bed against SC in Sept, fans would turn on Mario.

I don't buy that Mario would make that mistake. And I also don't think Nickel or Coleman is going to be ready. So.. it's gotta be a portal.

Why are our young QB’s too young to play but young QB’s are not too young to play at:
Michigan
Florida
Notre Dame

Just to name 3 programs off the top of my head that will start 1st or 2nd year QB’s.. I hope our coaches don’t live in their fears as so many of you seem to.

For me, I onl;y have a preference in that we know with 100 percent certainty weeks/months before portal opens if its Nickel or have a transfer lined up. I don’t want to wait 6-9 weeks waiting for a QB to decide if he wants to come here or go pro or go somewhere else. Tamper the f^ck out and have your guy lined up day 1 of portal so that way we can sell our QB to any other skill position player that we are after in the portal.

The QB timetable has cost us WRs in both the last two main portal cycles. That can’t happen. We got lucky both years that the QB decided to come here, but their supporting cast could have been even better in both years too.

Because our young guys are 3 stars while those schools are starting high 4 and 5 stars. Also, they’ve recruited better than we have, except for Florida.

If you sign a 5star QB you 100% expect them to start by their 2nd year no matter what. Otherwise you just wasted a **** ton on money. Our strategy is far less risk of going for sure thing portal guys. The negative is you have to get a new guy every year. There are positives and negatives with each plan. But unless a guy is a straight stud and proves it on the field the 3star to low/mid 4 star types are never expected to start before they actually prove themselves in camp and earn it. If Nickel isn’t unquestionably the backup to the coaches why should he be assumed he would win the job next yr?

I’ve said the entire time the only good strategy is going all in for the top 5star qb out of HS and just saying **** it and starting him all 3 yrs (just eat the first yr negatives), or just portal shop yearly and get good prospects with starting potential out of HS that you don’t NEED/Expect to hit but could.

We will see though if NIL Moves toward 2 yr contracts I think the 5star qb strategy is going to be best. But getting the top Portal QB is almost always the best choice for specifically that 1 season…

My only question regarding Coleman is his height affecting his ability to throw over taller college offensive lineman
