DAILY DEBATE: Who will be Miami’s quarterback in 2026?

I think our staff likes our guys as well but our staff is realistic. Judd is nowhere close and Emory is just not that guy. Nickel is too young, imo, so the obvious answer is a portal. Portal QBs will be banging down our door assuming Beck has a really good season. It would be dumb to pass on that kind of oppty. After that, 2027 is an open comp and whoever on the roster wins it, that's our guy for a couple years. But for 2026, it's gotta be a portal, imo.
This would be the best option if we want to keep winning and giving the young qb time to get both their minds and body ready.

From a recruiting standpoint it would be beneficial if Miami developed an in-house QB, ie Nickel, to show elite prospects that Miami is a place you can commit to, get developed, and play. For that to happen Nickel will have to get significant PT in 4 games if he is taking a RS, or roll with him as #2 this season .... which by all reports is not happening. The kid has the tools and NEEDS live fire reps to grow. Really believe his ceiling in much higher than Emory. If he doesn't get the chance for reps, then it will be a Portal QB, with Nickel as backup, and then competing with Coleman in 27.

Hot take: Lanoris Sellers takes a step down this year. Come to Miami so he can position himself back into the first round

Regardless, if Beck has the season we expect him to have, I don’t see why we wouldn’t get another portal QB. They’ll be lining up to come play here

That might depend on who the OC is because Dawson is likely gone if the offense has another big year.

If Beck has a great season-I would not be surprised if Mario dips into the portal again.

We need to develop our guys but, you just don’t know what will transpire.

Emory, Judd, Nickel, Coleman or other?
Transfer and it’s not even close and that’s how it should be. We’re about to have back to back first round quarterbacks drafted that were transfers and we’re going to be looked at as the place to go for top transfer quarterbacks. Anyone who says different, I question their ability to evaluate and knowledge of the game.

I think the staff likes our guys. I could see a full blown competition next spring and I think the staff goes with Emory. But if I was in charge, the answer would be other.
The staff Going with Emery isn’t gonna happen in a million years! Get real with your take man, you think the staff is so stupid that after coming off Cam and Beck that they’re going to go with a guy that can’t complete a forward pass without getting batted down by the defensive line? Lol Emory will never start here and anyone who thinks otherwise, I questioned their knowledge of this game or ability to evaluate anything as far as quarterbacks go. Smh

And when do high school qbs start to lose interest in Miami?

Who gives a f🙌ck! In case you’ve been living under a rock, almost every quarterback playing in the playoff last year was a transfer. That’s how college football is now, so either get with the program or go the way of the dinosaur.
