DAILY DEBATE: Who is the best running back in Miami history?

Duke! If he had a chance to play on the early 2000’s teams omg, but honestly this is tough one. At first glance I wanna say Mcgahee, Edge bought the swag back to the running back room after probation, you can make a case for Portis, im too young to have seen Melvin Bratton and Otis Anderson but I’ve heard stories. Frank Gore probably easily number 1 I’m college hadn’t he got hurt.

My personal favorite was Mel Bratton he had all the tools and was fun to watch. Other than that this is a pretty tough one to answer. Gore Cleveland Gary Leonard Conley Edge Portis etc. we’ve had some great backs who were all fun to watch.
Good call, he would have had a great NFL career, except for knee injury. great hands
kinda like Marcus Allen HOF.......

tough call, seem to forget both Bratton as well as MCGahee....... i was at Rose Bowl when he blew out his knee what a crushing blow for him even though his NFL career was above average that explosion he had was gone....... personal favorite was Edge but so many right answers

There was just something about the way Edge improved the RB room. He would gain several extra yards on every play compared to the guys before him. That’s why I put him on the pedestal. McGahee, Portis, and Gore were impressive, but less so because they followed Edge. The “eye test” on Edge was great. Never forget the UCLA game.

Of all the error in running the school, Donna moving from the OB was the worst
great clip but my initial reaction was man do we miss the OB

Edge brought the swag back to the RB room "After" probation???....No....Edge was there for the entire probation.

He didn't blow out his knee at the Rose Bowl....he blew it out at the Fiesta Bowl.

correct i was "lucky " enough to be at Nebraska Rose Bowl as well Fiesta bowl.
Stadium was one of worst way to tight knees always in your back. sat next to some Buckeye fans and it gave me an enduring "haterd " of OSU period.

Yep, even with the interference call I say Mcgahee injury is why we lost that game

McGahee followed closely by Gore and Edge. I've never seen anyone run with the heart Portis did against VT the year Dorsey got introduced to CFB. Davenport very well could have been right there with them had he not blown out his knee before getting a chance to be the guy.

Iirc, Bratton was being projected as a first/second round pick during that 87 season. He was that dynamic and in an era where backs didn’t really catch the ball out of the backfield, he was a unique guy that way.

If I were to rank seasons of guys that I watched play….

1. Mcgahee 2002 - he was unreal
2. Gore 2001 - he’d be in the #1 spot had he played more his freshman year. He was a video game.
3. Edge 1999
4. Duke 2014
5. Portis 2001
6. Bratton 1987
7. Zo 1984
8. Najeh 1998 - had he been healthy, his 99 season would have been incredible. Unstoppable on those Coker T toss sweeps.
9. JJ 2000
10. Lamar 2011

Honorable mention: talented guys that were a notch below:

- danyell
- James Stewart - pound for pound our most physically gifted RB ever, I’d argue
- conley
- Warren williams
- mcguire

what i will always remember was the play ended with delayed PI but whole Miami team was already at mid field..... when you watch the game or anyone in media speaks to game it always starts with controversial call in preamble.
officials blew it......
