We can disagree on Cristobal the coach and even how to assess his time at FIU but I'll absolutely agree on this. Garcia is a massive ****. I can see why Kenny Dorsey changed career paths again.

You have no idea what his personal situation is. Perhaps he isn't as blinded by the prospect of quick NFL cash as some here think he should be. Perhaps he's loving college life - once he leaves, it's never coming back. Not everyone's all about the benjamins.

Finally opened your eyes and realized it. Congrats! Also if you don’t think guys like Herbert, the Clemson DLinemen this year, and Bama guys who are first round picks who always return to school don’t get compensated, you are naive.

Several were named earlier in this thread. The UCLA QB a few years ago. Leinhart was another. Andrew Luck. All were talked about as 1's came back, same as this guy although I don't think that talk carried through the end of the season.

Either way, my point stands.

From a potential injury perspective, definitely a risk. One insured for millions I assume. From a playing perspective he still needs improvement playing in the pocket consistently and he needs to improve his deep ball accuracy. Improve those two areas and he could be the overall top 1-3 pick.

A number of teams in today’s projected top 10 have QBs:

Arizona - drafted Rosen last season
San Fran - Jimmy G
Jets - drafted Darnold last season
Oakland - Carr, but who knows with Gruden
Detroit - Stafford
Giants - Eli Manning may or may not return
Buffalo - drafted Josh Allen last season
Tampa Bay - Winston may or may not return. Team may have new GM and HC.
Jacksonville - Bortles may or may not return
Carolina - Cam Newton

If you assume the draft order above, Herbert is not Top 5 unless Oakland picks him fourth or someone trades up. Is Herbert worth the cost of trading up? Would surrender your 2019 1st and 2nd round picks, plus your 2020 1st rounder, maybe more? Is Herbert consistently that good?

He is not as highly rated at Luck or some of the others in the recent past. He’s the best in a comparatively weak class at a position where prospects are overvalued out of necessity.
