LOL at that bull****. Those participants in revenue sports at the 10 schools that wisely bailed on the Pac-12 will get paid more in their new conferences while also competing in one of the two premier college leagues in terms of media coverage, fan support, facilities, etc. I believe they'd gladly acccept those benefits in exchange for a handful of longer plane trips during the course of the season

The "Pac-12" commissioner is just like Jim Phillips: Her two concerns are protecting her and her staff's jobs and looking out for the potential left-behinds like a Wake Forest.

I believe that was her point. The PAC 12 did not keep the student-athletes' best interests in mind (media, facilities, etc.) so they lost those schools. The PAC 12 didn't invest in improving their conference so those schools jumped. I understand where she is coming from, but there is only so much a conference can do IMO. You either have enough brands to be the hunter or not enough so you become the hunted.

You mention the benefits to the schools that gain P2 membership, but what about the student-athletes who are not members of those schools? Depending on how many schools the P2 decides to take up, there could be many more student-athletes who get the short end of the stick.

I think there is strong evidence that the sports world (college or pro) is the world where "moving up" isn't a good thing. It's why there are salary caps in every pro sport except baseball and now that is coming up as an issue in the next CBA. Having a handful of teams with the resources to have a leg up on the rest of the league usually ends up a very boring league. During the "bag days" of the '10's, I don't know of many people who liked it being Bama, Clemson, and OSU every year more often than not.
 
There is a New CFP payout structure for this upcoming season right? Or am I misremembering. Obviously last year we got >$20M for our CFP run and the ACC directly gives 100% with the success initiative. But I can't remember if this seasons CFP payouts were changed, or if that is for a future 24 game CFP...

New structure. We wouldn’t get the same money this year for winning more games coming up not because of the ACC but because the way the entire payouts were changed Big Ten and SEC get a lot more money per team than we do now it’s all set not based on games you win.

basically miami is positioned to compete no matter how the cards fall with all the government bill stuff and ncaa lawsuits. He expects baseball to be in the CWS every year and expects realignment to follow texas/oklahoma model and for notice to be given a few years ahead of a move. I'd listen if you get down time. About as honest, on the record, as you will ever get a UM employee to address some of those topics.
