Coley to Kentucky?

If Al loses Coley, first guy I'd call is Eddie Gran. Monster recruiter, calling plays for a big time offense, etc.

Golden is going to be like Coker in 2006 when he hired a pilot to coach the WR's because nobody wanted to work for his sorry lame duck ***.

****er was cycling through offensive coaches like a crack head - Olson, Berry, Werner...

What a disaster.

I opened this thread to reply that this thing is just falling apart. Then I realized there would have to be something left for it to fall apart at all.

I'd rather the program be ended than continue like this.

Throughout the day, KSR is profiling who we’re hearing are the top candidate for UK’s offensive coordinator position. So far, we profiled ECU OC Lincoln Riley, Murray State’s Chris Hatcher, and Cincinnati OC Eddie Gran. Next up: Miami offensive coordinator James Coley.
JAMES COLEY

Current position: Offensive coordinator/QB coach, Miami
Age: 41
Twitter: @CoachColey
Alma Mater: Florida State
Current salary: $500,000

Coaching history:

2013 – present: Offensive Coordinator, Miami
2013 – present: Quarterbacks Coach, Miami
2010 – 2012: Offensive Coordinator, Florida State
2010 – 2012: Tight Ends Coach, Florida State
2008 – 2009: Tight Ends Coach, Florida State
2008 – 2009: Recruiting Coordinator, Florida State
2007 – 2007: Offensive Coordinator, FIU
2007 – 2007: Quarterbacks Coach, FIU

Offensive philosophy: Pro-style

Coley’s offense is pro-style with no-huddle that he’s dubbed the “tempro” offense (pro-style + up tempo). The offense has a strong focus on tight ends, which should make incoming freshman CJ Conrad pretty happy; however, Coley is not a fan of the “dink and dunk” Air Raid style throws, so it would be an adjustment for the current players. Coley is one of the best recruiters in the country, ranking 17th in 247 Sports’ Recruiter Rankings (for comparison, Eddie Gran is 310th, Tim Beck 430th, Lincoln Riley 410th). He’s got four 4-star commitments in the 2015 class so far: S Jaquan Johnson, RB Jordan Scarlett, QB Dwayne Lawson and RB Mark Walton.

Current offensive statistics:

Total offense: 48th, 431 yards per game, 5,172 total (2,159 rushing, 3,013 passing), 6.77 yards per play
Passing offense: 47th, 251.1 yards per game, 208-358 (58.1%) for 3,013 yards total, 25 touchdowns and 11 interceptions
Rushing offense: 50th, 179.92 yards per game, 406 carries for 2,159 yards total and 18 touchdowns, 5.32 yards per carry

Through his own eyes:

Coley wore Google Glass during Miami’s spring game. See the plays from this awkward perspective:

Mark Stoops ties:

Coley was one of the favorites for the offensive coordinator job when Mark Stoops was hired. Stoops was reportedly encouraged to hire Neal Brown because of the Air Raid and Brown’s ties to the program, so Coley went to Miami instead. Could this be their chance to reconnect?

Is Coley the favorite?

247 Sports’ Chris Fisher is reporting that he’s hearing some pretty strong rumblings that Coley is the frontrunner: “Source was told last night that it was a definite possibility that Coley could have already been offered the job and that the hire would make a ton of sense for both parties involved.

James Coley may be a candidate for the job but reports of his hiring or even an offer are way premature

Source tells KSR that rumors of UK offering James Coley the Offensive Coordinator job are NOT true

James Coley, a former coaching associate of UK head coach Mark Stoops during their time together on the Florida State staff, has been offered the position, according to sources close to AllWildcats. Staff writer Patrick Loney first reported the news Monday afternoon.

The source could not confirm whether or not Coley had decided to accept the position.

Coley was thought to be a top candidate for the job when Stoops was originally hired by UK in December of 2012, but the position was eventually filled by Texas Tech's Neal Brown. The latter was introduced Monday morning as Troy University's new head coach after spending the last two seasons in Lexington.

Coley, 41, has been the offensive coordinator for the Miami Hurricanes the last two years. He was with Florida State from 2008-12 and has previous college experience at LSU (2003-04) and Florida International (2007). He spent 2005-06 with the NFL's Miami Dolphins.

Coley's offense at Miami averaged 29.9 points per game and ranked 48th nationally at 431 total yards per game, 251.1 through the air and 179.9 on the ground. Stoops has long maintained he desires a balanced offensive attack with the ability to run the ball when the game dictated it.

The operative word is premature . Perhaps they have to actually go through official channels before such can be mature.

This would be a epic loss, everyone kills coley but his future is bright. People love stoops on here and if he wants to hire a guy it's because he sees that also.

Justin Vogel replaces Dorsett?
