Coaching search update

He has publicly announced his desire to coach for Miami. If other names are actually leaked as being likely hires and his name is not among them, you can bet your *** that he will be considered for a number of jobs. I'm just saying that I can see him go for another position if it looks like the school is not serious about him any longer. Then we get out bid for other coaches and since Mario has no other school interested in him (I wonder why), he'll be our last resort.

Once again couple things
You keep saying that he will for sure he will be considered for other jobs, but there is actually no proof of that. Show any proof of that, **** show me any proof he was a serious candidate for any job the last few years. Second other names leaking, even other names being ahead of him on the totem pole doesn't mean he isn't being taken seriously. Butch is being taken seriously from all accounts and reports we have gotten, but being taken seriously and being the first choice are not mutually exclusive things. You say he has identified Miami as the job he wants, so much so that you claim he turned down other jobs and waited for a couple of years, but if all of the sudden the job comes available, which its has, and we don't jump on him right away as the #1 choice, he will bounce? You aren't making sense here.
Absence of evidence, is not evidence of absence. Prove to me that no boards ever talked about butch.

You got a lot of phone calls to make.
Im on both national boards with Rivals and 247, and I don't remember Butch's name ever coming up. I remember Al's specifically and the other team's fans being ****ed off. Regardless, even if I am wrong there, I don't care either way, the point still remains, that Butch wants the Miami job badly, and will not spurn us if we go through a whole coaching search before we decide.
why would a board of trustees talk about potential coaching candidates on forums.

Care to talk about the rest of my post and the main point Im making?

You guys needs to stop saying Charlie had no connections to high schools in Texas. You don't think he didn't get the lay of land and introduced to the power brokers when he got there?

Here is an article on how Charlie makes impressions to high school coaches
College Football - Charlie Strong's poor performance, Texas Takeaways - Travis Haney Blog - ESPN

I read another article where the coach talked about how Charlie went straight to the kid on social media and didn't involve the high school coach. I don't have the link, but it goes to show Charlie doesn't impress Texas high school coaches and that is why he does not get players. He may be able to recruit south Florida well but he will need to get out of state kids to win anywhere and yes even Miami.
After reading that ill have to say maybe strong isnt a great option.

He doesn't impress them b/c he was a big fish in the little pond coach, and his first season taking over an 8 win squad was an absolute **** show. It proves the point that recruiting ability ain't **** compared to winning.

If you were a HS player in Texas right now, would you want to play for the undefeated teams in your area, or the team whose coach in year 2 is so miserably bad that he may get fired already?

Agree, and Strong trashed the current team and kicked a bunch of them off the team. Charlie absolutely shows no respect to those coaches and he won't get their players. He doesn't take the clinic seriously, kicks off players, bad mouths the talent, sets his priority on recruiting the "Florida five" and he doesn't try and build relationships with the coaches.

Which means Strong isnt with the Texas club house bs.... You say all this **** about who's *** he won't kiss in Texas like that means his entire career as a successful Coach as a DC and HC should be completely thrown out bc of it??

It means Charlie can't build relationship which is needed to recruit some players, get boosters to donate and sell the program. Charlie would make a great DC, but 3 years at UL where Charlie Strong and Clint Hurt used the firing of Randy Shannon and hiring of a white coach as their recruitment pitch to south Florida talent.

Glad you have seen the light. The guy is a corch.

I'm on the fence about Charlie but I fail to realize how people state opinions as fact. Just because Mack won 8 and 9 the two years before doesn't have anything to do with strongs two. How do you know what Macks record would have been the last two? Maybe he would have performed worse.

His failure at Texas should be a huge warning sign. Let's see if any other program show interest in him. Only in Miami where he will be warmly embraced after failing miserably at a marquee place like Texas (as far as this year goes).

You may be right and Butch Davis may have lost the 01 and 02 National Championship.

Also a lot of his mistakes that have cost him games have nothing to do with talent.

It's always easier than people make it out to be.

If a coach on your program's level is doing a bad job, you shouldn't hire him. Forget anything else, the excuses, etc. Don't hire a coach that is losing tons of games at a Power-5 program.

At Miami he wouldnt have to worry about any of thay being issue... Strong already has strong connections in Miami and throughout the state. Also him having Clint Hurt is over blown at Louisville. Strong was the best recruiter in the state of Florida when he was the DC at UFlorida.

Why don't you break down how many starters on our National Championship team were from the state of Florida. I will hang up and listen.

Butch was conservative ( I doubt we even make it NC ) C O N S E V A T I V E

I want Butch badly, but if UM is going to slow play him AGAIN, then I hope he takes another competing gig where he can do his thing.

UM has a decade and a half record of shooting itself in the head.

He already did that once before and couldn't even win the Coastal.

I will take Charlie strong as a DC. As a head coach? NO. I defended him but some on here have made great points that you just can't ignore. Bottom line, of his 6 years as a head coach, he's had 2 good years and 4 mediocre years. I can't brush that aside and think somehow his results will be different here. Hopefully he wins enough where Texas doesn't fire him.

But I would hire Herman, Pagano, and obviously Chip Kelly ahead of Butch right now.

Let me get this straight. Charlie Strong's success at Louisville "doesn't mean ****" because he had a great quarterback in a bad conference. But Herman is your top guy for winning with a great quarterback in a bad conference. Got it.

That's not a knock on Herman. He is one of my top choices. But it's becoming clear to me that your dislike for Strong goes beyond football.

That's a bull**** post. Just because you get all hot and bothered over Charlie Strong, doesn't imply everyone who thinks he's a **** coach (which there is plenty of evidence to confirm) doesn't mean they're racist. Pretty low of you imo.

It's pretty obvious race is the real issue with Strong for a few posters on here, Goldenshowrs is one of them.

Stop bringing up the **** race card. It's annoying. No one cares what the guys race is. Strong is not a good coach. If Sumlin or Shaw were options I'm sure most on here would be ecstatic.

Such a simple concept, yet people make it so complicated. I don't know if anyone has pointed out a single HC who failed horribly at a marquee program who then went on to have great success at another P5 program.
