Coaching search update

I want Butch badly, but if UM is going to slow play him AGAIN, then I hope he takes another competing gig where he can do his thing.

UM has a decade and a half record of shooting itself in the head.

He already did that once before and couldn't even win the Coastal.

He was whipping UM's ***. Three out of four.

Maybe he could do it again.
Winning 8 games a year and beating Randy Shannon isn't exactly setting the world on fire.

butch butch and butch

Chip, Chip, Chip...and if he says no.....try again.

After the 47th no...then maybe Butch.

I'm sorry...but there's no comparison between those two. Butch has been unemployed for a while now...he'll wait another couple months. The administration HAS to wait this thing out and see what happens with the Eagles.

If chip comes back to the college level wouldn't USC be more likely then Miami?

'Chise, I may have missed it, but if you had your druthers, who would be your top three, ranked in order of preference. And by top three, I mean realistic candidates.

Let's address Ken Dorsey as OC because we're aware of Butch and Strong would repeat the last 10+ years at Miami.

Your suggestion is to pair a first time OC with a defensive minded coach? How does this help us on offense?

Meant to upvote, my bad.

Fair point.

If Butch were to covet an OC the caliber of Meachem who would bring that type of up-tempo, high octane offense to Miami, then it would dispel my biggest worries about him and I'd be fully on board. But that goes against Butch's highly conservative/vanilla track record offensively, so I'm not holding my breath.

Hearing Dorsey as the potential OC, even though it's the next logical progression in his young coaching career, doesn't have me excited. I want our offense to be able to capitalize on our greatest built-in advantage with a dynamic spread that can light up the scoreboard with speed/RAC on the outside/slot and power in the running game. Maximize the amount of opportunities we have to get the ball into the hands of South Florida skill talent every single game. Seeing some call all variations of the spread "gimmicks" in 2015 makes my head explode.

Maybe that's what Dorsey would plan to bring here, but that's obviously an unknown.

This guy gets it. Pretty much my thoughts.

I would love a great defensive coach who hired a great OC and let him do his thing. Unfortunately those type of guys don't come around often.

Unrelated but when did Pinkel become elite?

LMFAO we seriously have a fan who said "I think being a black coach in South Florida would be an advantage".......

Oh Really?

I mean it's actually scary how dumb our fans are.

OK show me the faces of the top 50 dade players and their coaches. Um, um, um... You FN moron.

And I didn't say being black guaranteed success you FN moron.

Your opinions are literally the stupidest shiat I have ever heard. Just like your screen name. now it just means you like being ****ed on. Big surprise douchey. You cant read and you are so used to people defecating on you that now you proud of it. But I have to give you props because I have no idea how a homeless dude has constant access to the internet.

Dorsey is a rising star. Cam Newton is the talk of the NFL and he is playing smart. Offensive coordinator at a big school is the logical next step for him. The fit with Kaaya is obvious.

I, as a Carolina panther fan and Miami hurricanes fan, love the talk about Ken Dorsey as an offensive coordinator.

however what people don’t seem to realize is the stats on cam newton, even though he’s an mvp candidate because we’re 7-0, he is playing very poorly and his stats are very similar to Kaepernick who just got benched

Newton:
1523 yards
54.2% completion pct
11 td
8 int
78.1 rating

Kaepernick
1615 yards
59.3% completion pct
6 td
5 int
78.8 rating

many see cam as the most athletically gifted player in the NFL. As a panther fan, i’ve been very disappointed in how Dorsey and Shula have utilized him this season and I do NOT think that Dorsey should be an OC

Thats cute what you did with the stats but it appears you left out his impact on the running game.

It also ignores the insane number of drops by the what's easily the worst group of receivers in the league

I'd be ok with Butch as a fall back option mainly because I'm sure he won't be a total flop. I just don't expect much out of him and haven't gotten sucked into the Butch vortex. In 14 years as a HC he's had 1 great season, and he even managed to fck that up by being too conservative.

His last run at UNC was desultory at best, and his offenses there were something out of the stone ages. ****, his defenses were flat out mediocre there despite being stacked with NFL talent. And he didn't sniff a measly Coastal title in 4 years.

I don't see all the hype, but I wouldn't hate the hire because I know he has certain documented strengths.

One of the scariest things about Dorsey is that his mentor is Stoola. Stoola is one of the dullest, blandest, low-octane OCs in the history of football. Dorsey hasn't been exposed to any high-octane offensive coaches so I doubt he'd suddenly become Meacham Jr. What you'd see from him is what he's been taught--Cud/Stoola.

Butch did ok at unc not great...his offenses were mediocre & the main reason was the Qb play...it wasn't very good Yates was very inconsistent

His defenses got better every year reaching #13 ranking & the next year is when a lot of the studs on his defense were suspended & they took a hit

But they were primed to make a run at the Acc ship & Bcs bowl.........
