Coaching search update

Even more unsettling, the defensive guru is getting shredded. Which Strong would we be getting?

He had elite defenses at South Carolina, Florida and Louisville. I think Texas is the anomaly, not the other way around. And he would be inheriting a defense with a ton of talent that fits his system.

Randy Shannon ran elite defenses as a coordinator as well. Charlie Strong is a terrrrrrible choice.

I don't really have a question D$, I just gotta say I love when you post. I can actually believe it. This gives me a reason to believe in Miami again. We can now embrace the hate again(and are with the T Shirts) and look forward to use getting a real coach and staff is money isn't the issue.

Thank you baby Jesus.

Chip was winning 10+ games a year with 2&3 star players.

No national championships to show for it... coaching in a soft finesse conference. Chip would be getting blown out at Texas worse than Strong bc he doesn't know how to field a defense.
Because the B12 and ACC are full of tough defenses?
You sound like a comment section

No because his offense would suck at Texas this year, who does he have to run the Oregon offense at a 100 mph at Texas? We have to start thinking ppl, do you see Mariota on the team? While his offense would be awful at Texas the defense would get embarrassed left and right. Chip would probably quit on his own.

He only had Mariota for one season, yet somehow he made BCS games the other years without him.

You can't be serious with this statement

Let's address Ken Dorsey as OC because we're aware of Butch and Strong would repeat the last 10+ years at Miami.

Your suggestion is to pair a first time OC with a defensive minded coach? How does this help us on offense?[/QUOT

Dorsey will be a great OC one day, but I'm done with having coordinators learning on the job. If Dorsey wants to come back as QB coach, I'd be all for that...or even as co-OC with someone more experienced.

I don't get the "Learn on the job" thing with Dorsey. Most people would take Fisch back and he sucked ***. I mean Dorsey is way more qualified and has coached to a better track record of success than Fisch, but you'd take that loser back? I don't get it.

Has anyone on this board actually seen Dorsey coach in person? Sat in a meeting with him? See how he coaches and tutors on the field and how he teaches his QB to attack certain defenses? I have. He is VERY IMPRESSIVE! There is a reason why Cam Newton is as successful as he is when most poeple thought he wouldn't make it in the NFL. Ken Dorsey is the reason. Fisch was an OC at Minn for one year under Brewster (DUMPSTER FIRE) then QB coach for one year at Seattle before he was our OC. That is learning on the job and that's why he sucked. Dorsey is ready and will be a STEAL if we can get him on staff. Here's the thing....i bet Cam would lobby, beg, pleaad, and do anything he can to keep Dorsey. he is that impressive as a coach. Most of you on this board can't see the **** forrest through the trees

When did I say I'd take Fisch back?

I see that Belloti built that program for Chip to have the success he had. Strong had to build up Louisville from scratch and has to do the same at Texas.... completely different circumstances.

And plz don't say anything about Texas having 8 wins when Mack was fired. It was clear to everyone that Texas was no longer a program that can compete in their own division let along nationally, which is why he was fired.

You need to read more thoroughly.

Oregon was averaging 8.3 wins per season under Bellotti. That jumped to 11.5 wins under Kelly. This is a DRAMATIC increase and the results are obvious.
Kelly brought Oregon to another level, something Bellotti could never scratch.

Of course don't say that (about Mack Brown) because he was easily exceeding Strong's win total by a lot. Mack's winning percentage in his final 2 seasons (.653%) and Strong's winning percentage in his first 21 games (.429%). Mack was fired because he didn't have success anymore at UT. Strong is currently doing worse, by a lot.

Shannon did it at one place. Strong did it at three places. And Strong has had success as a head coach, whereas Shannon had no head coaching experience.

There is only one reason people would compare Strong to Shannon and we all know what it is.

apologize. I didn't mean to make it seem like you wanted him back, but there have been plenty of posts that would support his sorry *** back here

Excellent news about Butch.....And the more I think about it, the more I think that Dorsey will be the OC....he's viciously competitive and needs to be on staff - and hopefully he can push Butch to be a bit more aggressive on offense....good luck with a DC trying to out-think Dorsey...

It'd be nice to see Reed on the staff in some capacity....He and Dorsey ran both sides of the ball - it'd be great to have those two back in particular....

Spoke to someone with direct link to decisionmakers. Butch has strong support with key members of Board. There are still some people against him, but the tide is turning. I become more optimistic by the day.

Money will not be an issue. The school knows how important this decision is. I expect Blake to be given the opportunity to conduct a true search and come up with the best candidate. This will not be a lazy process.

It's extremely early, but the two names with momentum are Butch Davis and Charlie Strong. And the obvious choice for offensive coordinator (in my opinion- not info) would be Ken Dorsey, QB coach for MVP candidate Cam Newton.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Corch Macho in this search. Have you read what he's done with his players?

He is too expensive for the U. That's the kind of hire you dream about but know is impossible. It's like these ****ers pining for Chip Kelly.

Look, I love Dorsey, and I'd love to have him back here in some capacity. I just don't think he's ready to be OC. Co-OC or QB coach with some established, experienced OC? Bring him on!

Just bring Butch back and be done. Everybody happy except a few punk *** BOT members who think that UNC soap scandal is a hig moral reason to not consider Butch. F them! That man was never implicated in that "institutional" issue

You have to make a run at him. You never know what someone will say until you ask. He already has a UM Green Escalade.

That's true. Make him say no.

He had success at a low level program in a joke conference with zero pressure.

Clearly, he CANNOT cut it at a major program.

If Charlie Strong was white, nobody would give him a single ounce of attention. He is a miserable HC. Lots of coaches look amazing playing in joke conferences with no pressure. Charlie is the black Rich Rod.

Two year contract, if they suck fire them no matter who it is. No more 6 year contracts until we start kicking *** again.
