Coaching search update

Thanks for the info D$, is Strong in Miami has the potential for something great, Butch back in Miami has long term greatness written all over it

What if Strong continues to flame out at Texas? I think that would take him out of HC consideration here. BUT, if he gets fired from UT and we hire Butch, I'd welcome Strong as a DC.

DMoney its no secret that Chris Petersen is one of my favorites for the job. Rumor had it when Randy was fired they approached him and at that time he was somewhat intrigued but wasn't interested in leaving Boise. Now that he has left Boise, is he on their radar? Washington is a dead end job and he could win big here.

If Strong's receiving stronger consideration from our admin than Tom Herman, then...well, f***

The search just started. They already know Strong. If Blake becomes sold on Herman, I expect that he will get major consideration.

Also, we have no idea if Herman wants the job. People always ignore that part.

Well if we hold our d!ck in our hand and don't attempt to sell the position, then why should Herman just want the job.

Make no mistake the bot member coming and saying Miami is willing to pay 4 million for a coach is not by accident. It's to entice potential coaches and absolutely obliterates the notion that Miami isn't going to make a well enough financial commitment to them

Butch as HC, Dorsey as OC, Strong as DC.

wont happen

People said the same thing about Butch coming back, but 'the tide is turning'. Also about Golden begin fired mid-season. And #TheReturn .

Muschamp and Chizik got fired from major programs to be DCs elsewhere. Maybe Strong would consider that if he really wants back into Florida and its recruiting base.

While I'm a fan of Dorsey getting in on the offensive staff (Obvious choice for QB coach), I'm not sure I would hand him the reigns as an O-Coordinator. He's only been Cam's position coach for a little less than two seasons and it's not like he's learning from an offensive guru as an O-Coordinator.

What I do know is that Dorsey knows how to dissect film and learn quickly (He's known as a film room warrior in his days at Miami), so I would definitely bring him in as an assistant OC under the tutelage of an established coordinator. He should be ready to take the reigns in no time.

The only argument I can see people making the case for Dorsey as an OC is that Fisch had minimal OC experience (One year with Minny 2009, albeit a very bad year) and three years of QB coaching before taking the reigns as Miami's coordinator. However, Fisch's offenses were just average in two years so that should be considered if Miami decides to make Dorsey the exclusive play caller.

The potential Butch hire? I'm loving it!

So D$, no mention of Mario at all? If true, that pleases me but can you confirm? Is he not being considered at all or is he at best a "plan D" at this point?

Not sure why he wouldn't if we're finally willing to open the checkbook considering the strength of this recruiting base and how Herman shows players The U 30 for 30s at Houston as the model for what he wants to accomplish there, but point taken. Maybe he doesn't.

Appreciate the info about the coaching search, as always.

Not for nothing but that is based on bullchit (an unnamed source). That isn't how you go out and get someone.

You assemble a list of coaches you want. You then send out feelers to their agents. You attempt to sell them on the position at Miami.

You don't just say (which they didn't) we will pay $4MM to the next HC and hope for the best, like fishing.

He will be considered.

But I'm much more optimistic about the scope and quality of the coaching search than I was before. And if it's a true search, I expect that he will be beaten out by stronger candidates.

Butch Davis - HC
Lane Kiffin - OC
Ken Dorsey - QB, A-OC
Charlie Strong - DC

Laughably unrealistic. But would be funny and erection worthy.
