The recent posts are 20/20 hindsight. Back when he was a high-schooler, we had no NIL program and no bag game. Manny and Lashlee couldn't afford great HS QB recruits or transfers. We all knew Brown was a high-beta unpolished athlete playing QB. Given our budget issues and total lack of recruiters among the staff, he was worth the bet.

The real crime was the QB room -- TVD, Brown, Garcia, Matocha. Holy **** was that bad.

I genuinely don’t understand.

I totally get kids want to be who they think they are. No doubt. I’m certain tons of people told this kid to try another position coming out of HS, and he said **** you, I’m betting on me.

Well, he was showing a 6 against a face-card, and he stayed. Bet crashed and burned. Spectacularly.

We’re 3 years in. You have 5 career TDs and 8 picks. You’re a 50% passer. Nobody in the history of the sport has been this bad through 3 years of college ball and been an NFL QB. I know you want it to happen, but my guy, it’s not going to. Use the god given ability you have and try another avenue. This is shocking insanity at this point.

On paper it wasn’t. TVD and Brown were both composite four stars, and Garcia was a high end four star.
