CJ Bailey needs to come home

If we make big portal adds at edge we're GOING to lose big high school recruits we already have in house. The portal can't be an answer for everything each and every year when you're recruiting high school at a high level. It's not about sit and wait your turn anymore. You bring in big additions all you're doing is telling kids on the roster we don't believe in them... Same with nickel
D$ has mentioned Blount wants to move inside. Permanently.

IF that’s the case, that leaves us:

Lightfoot/Lowe/Pickett
Scroggins/TF/TF

I don’t see how adding a starting level Edge on Scroggins’ side scares away true freshmen or other impact level guys, but if they do leave, so be it?

It would be like saying don’t add Marion or CJ Daniels in 2025 because we’re scared of losing by Trader or some of the others. I disagree with the strategy, but hey, that’s what discussion is about.

Mind you, I like Lightfoot, Lowe, Scroggins, and love some of the incoming true Frosh as prospects.

He does have leadership concerns and that’s a big problem for me, especially from the QB potions.

He’s also a statue and takes a lot of sacks (yes, the O-Line, etc) but there are ways to try and mitigate the sacks and not take those hits. Hes now having health issues.

He was sacked 26 times last year and 27 times this year. So he didn’t help improve in that area himself (obviously coaches and o-line have responsibilities) but the overall point, the QB can take steps to lower the number (throwing the ball away, checks at the line, etc).

Now, he is a high completion guy (72+%) and low INTs (6), of which 3 came in the Maryland game.

He played a **** of a game vs Michigan. He’s uber talented.

I have concerns about the Raiola team (remember last year there were rumors of a transfer and he had to announce he was staying).

I am not sure how mentally focused he is compared to what I see with a Mendoza, Beck, Reed or Maiava (whom to me he took the biggest leap from last year at USC).

Yea, I agree with you 100% think he needs to grow up a little for sure. But if you get a grown up Raiola you’re getting a dude who can win the heisman. I think the risk is worth the reward, he doesn’t have very many chances left. With the talent around him I think he can produce.

Yes, I can see what the potential.

I also don’t see Mario wanting to deal with the circus around a QB and Raiola in Miami, who knows how that would affect his immature ***.

Mario learned a lot from the Rashada experience. I don’t see the venture down this road but we shall see. Raiola needs to end up somewhere.

Levitt has struggled vs good teams too and his accuracy is a concern. Dude barely completes 60% of his passes. He wasn’t good vs texas in the playoffs. He completed 52% of his passes no tds and a pick
The point is, he led his team to the playoffs. And they almost won that game. There’s nothing in Bailey’s game that I see that makes me say wow. When Levitt takes off from the pocket and runs, some of those runs will make you say wow. Dude is a big-time athlete.

right now the data and tape I’ve seen shows that Bailey is a can crusher that runs more and becomes less dynamic when the defense gets tougher. Thats what I’ve seen so far looking at game replays. Is that fixable? Here is his production against top 50 defenses vs. baseline. What’s your take @DMoney

Trying to tell em. Raiola at UM is a top 15 draft pick. They don’t wanna hear it

Just not a fan of drama from players & families. The HS transfer, college de-commit, brother commit & de-commit, uncle or whoever coaching Nebraska OL & fired after nephews bail. The Mahomes **** is beyond bizarre. Also had a chance to see him play in HS. Obviously has talent, but vibe & interaction with teammates was horrible. Again, maybe he’ll be a stud at next stop & retire Mahomes in KC, but not one of my top choices.
agree. Just don't see any of that playing in the lockerroom here....

mario finally has the culture on the come up. Not the time to take a step back

This team needs a strong leader; someone who can lead by experience.

We need to bring in 1 portal DB - preferably a Safety. Our depth is straight trash there. Also I bet we lose at least 1 CB in portal probably Damari.

There is no way with all the DB talent we have we shouldn’t be able to find a guy who wants to go and win the nickel job. These guys should be begging to get a crack at that job first. waters, Dunnigan, **** any of last years CB class, etc. that’s a **** load of snaps available. I’m less worried about Starting safety with Fitzgerald (could be nickel tho) and Poyser (could also be nickel)… but we def need a portal safety.

I think we need a depth DT (if Moten returns). Nothing crazy cause I really like Scott and Moten and Simpson as DT3 and maybe Jones/Russell contributing too. I can def see us going for 1 Edge player. Maybe not a top edge in portal guy but we need more of SDE edge in case Blount ends up being used a lot inside. WDE I think we are set. But SDE we have a lot riding on Blount and Lowe being ready with no PT, and Scroggins…

Lb… man idgaf we need Wiley, Bobby to step the **** up and to get 2 portal LBs. I have little faith this staff is suddenly gunna start playing Pruitt even though I like him

I think it’s more like:
WDE: Lightfoot / Pickett / Frosh
DT: Scott / Simpson
DT: Moten / Portal
SDE: Blount / Lowe / Scroggins / McConathy

But yes if Lowe is playing both sides more and Blount does play more DT like he has this year especially on pass downs, I def think we need like a 265lb type Edge

With Blount being at DT we don’t have enough DEs with the size to start with lowe. So they supposed to just start these undersized DEs out of fear of losing them?

Dmoney already said Blount wants to play DT

I bet we will make a move sometime in January after we see what the freshman does on greentree.
not for nothing man, but first- the portal isn't til January so yeah but...

When exactly are you going to see the freshman on Greentree between now and January? Colemen won't be here before the portal or have any practices til March, and nickel sure as **** isn't getting any meaningful snaps in practice/game in the playoffs...

Bailey is the top guy for me and he'd crush it here if he can handle the pressure of being the guy in his hometown. I expected him to play better against Miami and it felt like he let the moment get to him.

Give me Bailey. I think he goes 1st round in 2027.
He can very clearly throw the football. Very accurate at 70% size and mobility. Been saying it all season. Only concern is the INT's but that's why Dawson gets paid, coach him up.

For the record, I’d prefer Blount play a hybrid role and gives us snaps at SSDE, but just going by what’s been said by D$. Big IF, but if it’s case, I see an open spot at DE.

I was never a big Beck fan but I was ok with him because I knew it’s a very qb friendly offense and it would help him. I trust Dawson with most of the names mentioned and believe we’d win with most of them. I just want accuracy. Also I’d like somebody who can move the chains with his legs when things break down. Not Michael Vick.
Is Bailey the most accurate of the bunch then? Or is Sorsby/Leavitt more accurate?

Well maybe brother you guys and I have a big difference in what we consider big portal additions. All four of those names you mentioned have a legit expectation to start. Blount has been told since last off-season we wanted to start transitioning him inside. Lowe and Lightfoot in particular have a legit expectation to start. Adding someone like Marion who was essentially just a legit return man at byu and CJ daniels who was hurt and did next to nothing at LSU is nowhere near a big portal addition in the offseason. What I would consider a big portal addition is ryan Williams, is Jeremiah smith. It's a LEGIT starter from another program. Someone who won't come here without gaurentees. One of those level additions gaurentees we lose from that room. No need to go back and forth on it though brother. I just strongly disagree that we take any big additions from the portal if at all at edge.
