Charlier Strong and Texas

He played a lower division schedule. Now that he's with the big boys, he's exposed. It happens. It happened to Rich Rod

The same Rich Rod that took Arizona to the Fiesta Bowl last year and beat Oregon?

Yes, that Rich Rod. You know the one who got fired from the Big Time program to coach at a basketball school that is never expected to win titles.

Not every program is a fit. He built WVU into a program that shredded powerhouse teams and won BCS bowls. He built up a dead Arizona team in a good conference and went to the Fiesta Bowl.

He was a bad fit at Michigan and did a bad job. He's still a good coach, and to argue otherwise is insanity.

It also doesn't mean that this will happen to Strong.

It already has. Dude is in year 2 and that texas team is ATROCIOUS.

Why do you need to defend Strong?

Because I watched him coach before Texas.

Then you watched this kid Bridgewater too.

No disrespect, and you said it too, he is toxic. He stepped up to a bigger progran and is coaching against better talent. He is also regressing at Texas from year 1 to 2. Move on because he doesn't have what Miami needs.

And what was so impressive about playing a joke schedule with a bunch of Clint Hurtt recruits?

Clint Hurtt didn't land **** under Shannon. His recruiting efforts in 2010 were the worst I've ever seen at Miami.

Strong is the reason that roster was loaded with NFL players. As for the schedule, they beat every Power 5 team they played those last two years, including a Top 10 Florida team.

It's funny how he doesn't credit for Bridgewater. He recruited him to a program like Louisville. And I wish I could pull the old threads arguing with Miami fans about how "soft" Teddy would do at the college level.

I still need an explanation how Mack Brown was able to have a .653 winning percentage his last 2 years with those soft talent less Texas kids but Strong is .388 through 18 games.

Hurt and Strong convinced south Florida kids to come play for a "black" coach and he got lucky. Petrino is struggling with the crap Strong l ft him. Wait until Texas loses to Texas Tech, Baylor, OU and k state

if Shannon didnt get fired. Strong doesnt clean up south florida and have the success he had. his whole career there was based on that class.

Same thing that happened at Michigan with Rich Rod and Lloyd Carr.

It was a combination of bad recruiting by the outgoing coach, a rotten culture and a tough transition for the players.

didnt strong get rid of like half the rosters at UT also?

Strong is not a fit for texas kids. different kind of football they play.

How did he trick anyone? Golden was tricked by Kirby Hocutt. Had Kirby been honest, Golden would never have taken the job.

when things start to go downhill they just snowball. But i think he's better than Golden. Golden tricked a lot of people.

Plus there was little improvement from Year 1 to 2 for Rich Rod. Strong is actually regressing.

People like lauderdaleballer are why we hired Randy Shannon instead of Gary Patterson.

Patterson was never seriously interested in Miami. He has always said he was happy building his program at TCU. It is amusing to see all the badgering back and forth with no facts. Texas the year before Strong came had NO PLAYERS drafted so the talent was not there. He walked into disciplinary problems and had to dismiss many starters and then his QB had to retire because of health issues. I don't know how good he is but Texas boosters never wanted him for the same reason Bull gators didn't and that was because of his interracial marriage. I do think with right assistants he would be a big upgrade over what we have now. Please badmouth me as I have to laugh at all the supposed fans here who weren't even born when I started going to Canes games in 1963 and don't know anything about Canes football existence before 1980.

So wrong as Shannon wasn't recruiting much of S Fla. when Golden visited Miami Central after taking job he was told Miami hadn't had a coach on campus in 2 years. Randy recruited NW and Booker T and little else. Kids that grew up Canes fans ended up at FSU and others because they offered so any argument defending Randy's recruiting is moot

if butch came here it would take time imo, this roster isnt that great especially up front where it matters

You dont hasve to i FULLY remember from GRASSY...

And a lot of guys are on CIS right now who were going to war with me and you over TEDDY B. Calling the kid Jacory, he was "soft"..had a fluke arm...I was telling preople about Teddy B when he was a SOPH at NW.

Strong is a good coach...He would do well here with a good oc running his offense....Im quite sure our defense would really be up to par with him with these SAME kids golden cant do sh*t with. He pretty much knows the teams were playing over here in the acc.

I dont know if he were to get fired he would be on my top 5 -10 list..
