CFP Selection Committee to incorporate "new data point"

Its a P2 invitational. This shouldn't be new to anyone and it will only get worse as things evolve. Even once they announce the 24 team format in next few months. This is why Miami getting out of the ACC is so paramount. Hopefully this puts to bed all the brain dead "we should stay in the ACC because we have such an easy path to playoffs" argument. The ACC's seat at the table is not guaranteed in the future and as the format continues to evolve. They will always technically have a way to make it to avoid antitrust but not equal access.

Indiana literally beat 6 of the 7 worst teams in the Big 10 in 2025.

That, right there, is one of the worst INTERNAL Big 10 SOS's of the Big 10 teams that were legitimately considered for the CFP field.

And yet...Indiana won the national championship.

So my point is, if you USED this "data point" prior to Indiana winning the Big 10 championship over Ohio Taint, it would have been very unfavorable to Indiana. Who is to say that Michigan or USC couldn't have been ranked higher (at some point), particularly since Indiana played neither team?

We just need to get out of the ACC. I would love if we went to the Big10 since I live in Indianapolis.

I’m not shelling out stupid money to go to the ND game though. I could go to any game in Miami for cheaper and that includes flight and stay.
 
However, it's unclear whether the new metric will have much real-world impact, given that strength of schedule was already a meaningful data point considered in the process. The only 2025 at-large team ranked outside of the top 30 in strength of schedule was Ole Miss

The new metric, along with a revised strength-of-schedule, is likely designed to assuage their concerns. Four of the seven at-large selections were given to SEC schools last season. The group failed to win a single College Football Playoff game against an opponent from another Power Four league.

I made this point ad nauseam last year in the run in to playoff selection. This conference does not advocate for itself or protect its assets.
