Watch the Notre Dame game again and see if you still think that. Their entire offensive gameplan was centered around exploiting Shayon Green... and it resulted in 350 rushing yards. If we had a tougher DE the game would have looked different. The DT's didn't have nearly as much to do with the loss.

I wasn't really thinking too much about an example of a player - but you get what my point is.

I've always been of a mindset that your defense starts with your DTs. You have strong DTs, and you can have average DEs. Not necessarily the other way around.

I'm super thrilled about Bryant and Bostwick. Need one more stud in there and it's an A+ class, especially to complement Ivery and Moore. With DE, however, you have a bunch of JAGS on the roster, even though I'm hoping Ricky Williams can be a surprise for us.

Love the positive momentum on Thomas, man we need him and Kirkland. Agree that they must have their eyes on some JUCO DE's if we are only recruiting Tim Williams. How big is Toby Johnson?

We have to go all in on Muhammad too. Have to give ND a battle here for him He is the type of player that can be a program changer from the DE position. Best looking highlights and his full game against STA was dynamite. Have to get into NJ again and Al has deep roots there. Imagine he and 6 in this class. One edge setter and one monster pass rusher. He IMO is the top out of state kid we need to be on along with Toby Johnson. Muhammad>Tim Williams at DE.

Exactly why Muhammad is the better prospect. Also physically bigger and very quick first step and lateral movement. He is a kid we cannot give up on.

I like the thought of Bush, Carter, Burns, Jenkins at S. At the very least that some athleticism that we haven't had back there in a long time.

Still think we need a few more DE, DT, OL but not sure there is much room. I trust Al though.

I really hope they put Burns at Corner. I think he'll be the most complete guy out of all the guys we've recruited in the last 2 years.

- Long
- Fluid Hips
- Strong
- Good long speed
- short area burst

He's got everything you would like from a corner in this defense. I think he is grossly undervalued and it's not an accident that Saban was recruiting him. After some weight room time, I think he will compare favorably to a guy like Dee Milliner.

Agreed about the not giving up.

I have mentioned it a few times but I feel strongly we will see some big names emerge. Guys are out there looking at us seeing the freshmen play. Maybe they are committed to other schools and keeping quiet but we are definitely not done with just the familiar names. I would bet my fandom on it.

So far, Golden has shown a knack for getting kids to flip at the last minute. Thomas Finnie, Antonio Crawford, and Jawan Blue.

Blue was my favorite just because of the VT coach's reaction. "But...but, all your homeboys are here? We play clean football here."

****... I'm about to be "that guy"..... but in recruiting really nothing is 100%. 99% lets you save some face later when one of the 100s bails. Just sayin'.

I wouldn't mind a future Defensive backfeild looking something like

CB Burns
FS Bush
SS Carter
CB Howard

with a linebacker crew looking something like

Hybrid LB/DE Thomas
Will - Kirby
Mike - Perryman
Sam - Johnson

But it's all about that D line obviously we need Bryant to be the goods along with maybe Bostwick and some of the young guys to step up at D end.

Kirby is a Mike and Denzel outside would be ideal. Bryant, Bostwick, and Muhammad are key this year. Must get all 3 and Muhammad I know is a long shot but have to work hard on him. Problem is if these 3 come expectations for them won't be fulfilled until 2015.

That is the problem. Linemen are not meant to play full time roles as freshman as our guys are now like Moore, McCord, etc. Look at Clowney last year. Top recruit in years and basically guaranteed 3 and out kid was situational 20 snap a game player. 6'3" 300 at 18 is not the same 6'3" 300 at 20. A lot of the baby fat is replaced by muscle and explosion especially in the hips, ***, and thighs. That is where strength comes from regarding line play.

This is where Al just has to get numbers right and create the depth. DL is 2nd most important group on a team right behind QB. Just like to MUST recruit 1 QB a year, you MUST recruit at lease 3 DL a year.
