Canes to pattern game after Cowboys and Seahawks

This constant changing crap is just another in a long line of attempts AG and staff do to create buzz every off season. He aint changing ****, he aint winning ****, and for **** sure...in terms of scheme or play, this team will NOT look anything like any NFL team.

This fraud we call a HC will never win anything here or anywhere else. He has no sense of who he is, most losers dont either.

The main issues at UM involve a "global" level of incompetence amongst the coaching staff and a "culture" of mediocrity.

**** off Al Golden!!!

Pure Horse Sh*t.

Mediocre coaches visiting a Mediocre Pro Team. Wait, wait......never mind NE, Denver or Green Bay.

Regarding Seattle: You can't run Seattle's Defense WHEN YOU DON'T RUN SEATTLE'S DEFENSE.

Fly The F*cking Banner......

This. Anyone else remember this excerpt from Golden's letter to the team that was sent after the season and subsequently got leaked to the WEZ/CIS?

Those same TCU Horned Frogs. Same Weight Room, Same Playbook, Same Uniforms….Yet a Much DIFFERENT TEAM!

The part where he incorrectly claimed that TCU didn't change a thing but achieved much different results the following year, even though they hired new co-offensive coordinators to install an entirely new offensive attack? He's dead set on doing things his way and that will never change.

Dude trying to fool everyone with these changes since he doesn't have the guts to fire his best friends :durantunimpressed:

Not that any of you are wrong in your assessment of the staff. I think they need to go. I think they have missed the boat on really connecting with the local scene down there. At this point the locals are calling out the staff and that is never good. The staff lost this team two years in a row. However, IF they can get use some of the techniques from those staffs that would be huge. The Seahawks have a great thing going with Carroll, he is a players coach that they LOVE to play for. Right now, with the lack of results, the players like playing for AL but the results are not there so they begin to question it. I don't hate the idea of playing defense like the Seahawks, I do hate the idea of AG going back to his bs two gap, read and react, let them get 4 yards a play garbage he tends to call in big moments of games. We have had moments where we look like a legit team, somehow he always finds a way to lose that momentum. If he can find a way to keep it, I think you would see the complete buy in and then you would see the recruits follow… But it will probably require a new HC because of the damage already done….

if he is learning from the seahawks how to make the 3-4 more effective then that is a good thing... He understands it has to attack. I can see Artie stepping up and locking down one side of the field (In the mold of a Sherman in college). We need to worry a little bit about Safety play in that scheme. We have a player that could do the Cam Chancelor role and blow people up if he would just be more discipline, but I do think Deon will be able to take on what Earl's role is in that defense.

Linebackers - We have athletic guys that can go downhill.. Tyriq will accel if attacking from the Sam, and giving different looks. Most NFL people that talk about the Seahawks D, say it is really simple, they don't change much they just become match up nightmares and exploit weaknesses.

D line is improving and Muhammad is back. I hope Golden does learn from that style of D and not be discouraged from it.

And I hope I grow wings out of my back tomorrow so I can fly. Cool ******* story.

Why even use the cowboys and Seahawks? If you're going to tell tales, go all out, "next year we're going to run the '99 rams offense, and the 2000 Ravens defense... Only better"

I get all of the complaints here about the lack of success. I'm as disappointed and frustrated as anyone (and agree with the sentiments). But really, is it that bad of a thing for the coaches to try and learn some things from the Cowboys and Seahawks? At this point, any little improvement would be worthwhile.
I just don't understand how people can be mad that these coaches are trying to fix this thing. I get being mad at the board of trustees, Shalala, and Blake James (especially). But it seems like a lot of you guys are mad at the coaches no matter what they do. If that's the case, why not save yourselves the anguish and stop reading these articles?

It is a bad thing that they're still employed because they're failures. This isn't changing because they watched some other coaches. You can either coach or you can't. These guys can't coach and this is evidenced from the last 4 years.

Alums and Fans will be "mad" until we have success. They should be mad as well. At Miami we've chosen to go with the self-inflicted cancer strategy. So explain why we shouldn't be mad? So "don't tell me about the pain. Show me the baby."

Seahawks run an under front we used to run an over front... Different design. Yes they flyyy around but they are asked to do different things. Front seven had different responsibilities.

Under front can line up and look almost identical to an odd front.

Your SDE is usually bigger because he is asked to 2 gap because your SAM does cover but lines up to set the edge.
So the SDE can be LIKE a 3rd DT or a true end play to play. Your SAM has to be quick to cover man or zone but strong to set edges. Regardless of 2 or 3 point stance. Hybrid types.

Because 5 are usually on the LOS it can transition to 34 with Sam and Will like 2 ILBs. That's where Golden gets too complicated trying to switch back and forth.

The seahawks base shell is 1/3 . meaning a deep safety either man (1) or zone (3) which can look identical. The Bucs used 2/4 with the same front.

I can see where he TRIED to emulate the Hawks. Al relies on zone too much which is made worse with poor pre snap alignment and slow adjustments.

The old canes in the 43 Over was your ends played outside the tackles/TEs ALWAYS. your LBS played the interior gaps EXCLUSIVELY against the run. A true 1 gap responsibility. The 3 technique played toward the strong side as opposed to weak (under front).

Coverage shells are interchangeable.

The over front is more plug and play where as the under is more fickle and requires more specialists ( for lack of a better term) or versatile players. So the under takes longer to get clicking. It took my Bucs around 4 years to get running consistently at a high level. It took the Hawks about 3 or 4 to get to this level.
It took him too long to adjust IF he even really is. That is his biggest indictment here. If he made these supposed changes 2 years ago we start landing more impact DTs...

stopped reading after "More globally, we are going to take a couple more visits in terms of a franchise or organization culturally."

Yeah, that one stumped me too. What was he saying? I still want to know.

The sad thing is that there are still people who believe Folden is a scheme tweak or an assistant scapegoating away from turning into Pete Carroll. The Seahawks are great because of Pete and his leadership and all that he brings to the table. If it was as easy as merely copying his scheme everyone would just do that and start winning Super Bowls and NCs.

The thing Folden can't copy is the thing he needs to copy--Pete's personality and leadership ability.

This guy gets more used car salesy every year. I will always cheer for the players, they are true Canes, all of them. The 2 NJ D-Bags can go fack each other. I hold out hope that every organization, college and pro are taking notes on their failures. Love my Canes...HATE the Golden and D'Oh nofrio scheme/scam. Globally and culturally??? Can any real Cane fan even imagine hearing that ever come out of Howard, Jimmy, Dennis, Butch or even Larry mouth? Sad really. Can only hope new president hates mediocrity.

Go Canes!

We're agreed, it is a bad thing that they're still employed here. The performance last season alone should have been enough. I'm not saying fans and alums should not to be mad. I just don't understand the point of being mad at the coaches for continuing to try. Should they just fire themselves from their high six and seven figure jobs (last I checked, no one has ever done that)? Should they stick their heads in the sand and not try to make any adjustments?
The point is this: the anger directed at the coaching staff seems misguided when it probably should be directed at the BOT, the President, and the AD.

Clearly we're not in agreement. Anyone who believes adjustments will seriously help Al is clueless.

This is how people vent frustration. You don't need to worry about people venting their feelings. As for your rhetorical questions, no real comment.

The anger isn't misguided because let's be honest, you can't focus our anger, energy and passion on the coaches performing well. That is not how it works. I am also pretty sure "hoping" for the best does nothing either. So I say *** all the coaches, BOT, AD and President. If Al wants to stay, enjoy dealing with this group.

Wrong. Steve Spurrier -- on his own -- walked away from the Redskins with 3 years left on a big-time guaranteed contract, because he knew he was not cut out for the NFL grind. He has what is known as integrity.

By contrast, Golden's schemes have consistently failed (if I recall correctly he's never beaten a team that finished in top 25). Yet, he keeps stealing money from UM, and refuses to make fundamental changes like firing his incompetent defensive coordinator and best man.

Paul Johnson recognized that Groh could not get it down on game day, notwithstanding his allegedly brilliant defensive mind. So Johnson made the correct executive decision -- terminated Groh and moved in a different direction. Look at the results.
