Tennessee fans greeted Gibson at the airport and cheered the car that drove him into town. Our fans question his five stars and say pass. Someone made the comment about Gibson being recruited since 8th grade by UM, but visits UT once and they're his leader. Ain't hard to see why if that's the case. Look at his comments as well about what Butch was pitching him, and mix that with folks meeting him at the airport ready to polish his pole onsite, it's easy to see why they're at the top of his list.

Totally agree, I left grassy because of those fans. I don't care if a guy with four heads is the coach. I want to judge this guy we have with this class we have coming in, which should give us some help on defense. We for the first time in a long time have some play makers on both sides of the ball.

Sadly, it's always been this way.
Heck, I remember flying down to Miami during 2000 season to catch the 3 game LaTech-VT-Pitt homestand and even then fans at the game yelling
obscenities at our coaches and players because we weren't scoring enough (especially LT game).
I couldn't believe it.
Some folks would say we have spoiled fans.

I'm not advocating for Golden with my post, because there are very valid arguments against his level of coaching acumen. My post is really about the fact that positive buzz is next to impossible to be sustained around the program. It's torn down the minute it starts.

We need to do our part to uplift this program, whether we like what's happening in it or not. If you can't, step back. We NEED some positive buzz, all we can get as a matter a fact. Those complain that we don't have elite talent, but how the **** would you expect to get these kids, if the buzz is constantly negative surrounding the program?

Board and be honest? Do you get paid by UM or Diabeetus gut gulden to post? You realize this is the same guy that tried to leave for State Penn, and only came back to UM because he lost out on the job to James franklin(who btw had a rape case involving his players at Vanderbilt) and had no other options. Nah, last season they were 12-2. FSU lost 4 games 2 seasons ago but only had 4 players drafted.

Well, we've got problems, but we have a bunch of bright spots. Tough for even the mopiest of mopes to deny our talent. WR group looks strong and can be among the best if Malc and Scott can get back. Coley is such a ******* freak of nature.

Duke and Yearby being out looks to have a silver lining. Gus is getting a ton of reps and Tucker looks better than I hoped.

We should have a decent pass rush this year, outstanding compared to the last few years. We still have issues, but dammit man.....I can't help but be excited.

I'm excited about the offense....but the problems with the defense go wayyyy beyond the talent. You can inject as much talent as you want into that abomination of a scheme but when players are being asked to do things they should NEVER be doing, well you're going to get the same result every time.

You guys call those of us that call it like we see it a mope..we call you cheerleaders. At the end of the day we are all Canes fans. Burying your head in the sand and ignoring the big problem won't change the outlook when it's the same scheme being run year after year.

I want us to win just as bad as you...and when there is something to be optimistic about I say it. Right now however...the "problems" you refer to are the entire ******* defense. That goes way beyond a "problem", it's a an epidemic relatively speaking. I think we've all been watching football long enough to know you can't win with a defense THAT broken.

So yeah...Coley is a ******* stud. However unless Golden either completely changes his scheme or gets fired guess what...Coley's time here will be wasted.

I agree with you and I'm definitely not a ******* cheerleader. We are going to have a bad defense for sure. What may help us improve is the pass rush. We won games when we were getting pressure and creating turnovers and we might be able to win a close game or two because of TOs and a nice secondary/pass rush.

The offense is legit but I don't have much faith in our QBs. I predict Morris will suddenly become a hero by about week 3.
