Canes Camp Report Episode 10

We're starting to look how we're supposed to again.

Owens and Figueroa instead of Cornelius and Gaines.
Jamal Carter and Artie Burns instead of Kacy and slow-mo
Kamalu and Jelani instead of Corey King and Shayon Green

And we're still getting run up and down the field by the offense.

You think that from a few highlights, while completely ignoring the equal amount of highlights showing rb's getting destroyed?

Way to be objective.

I was at the scrimmage, guy.

Yo wildcat, you gonna let us know how the coaching clinic was from your POV and also how the scrimmage went, who stood out and such? would be appreciated.

Silly to defend this years RB depth by pointing out what it was last year. It was bad last year and is still bad this year.

Gus, duke and yearby are an improvement. If you can't acknowledge that, your cannot be reasoned with.

I would assume it's reasonable to expect at least what we got of walford last year this year. Te will be improved. Qb is the huge variable. Honestly, Stephen was not very useful last year. He was hurt for most of the season and did very little to help the O. I can't imagine less production out if the position this year.

The DC and the Dts are big question marks, but DT should be improved with wyche, huerlto and moten. The DL is without a doubt more talented than last year's.

And nine wins last year was luck. We should have lost to Wake and UNC. While there was no loss we should have won. Ball bounced our way the first seven games.

Coming back from deficits in the fourth isn't lucky. Nothing that happened in those games was fluky in our favor. Our fastest WR and best offensive player get hurt in the UNC game and we pound them into submission with the run game in the 4th. How is that lucky? Wake couldn't stop us running the ball in the 4th? How is that lucky? By your logic FSU beating Auburn was luck. Auburn missed a deep throw early and FSU was down most of the game.

that's obviously false if the defense had a int on that one drive
Did feliciano say they scored on every drive?

Maybe he's referring to the 1st team offense only.

The first team offense threw the INT. He was referring to early on in the scrimmage where I assume they did plenty of goal line work. At least that is what they've done in the past. The only two TDs that weren't goal line in the clip was the bomb to Dorsett and maybe Tucker TD where he bounced to the outside. At least three others looked like they came strictly from goal line work.

LOL...9 wins. Anyone who looks at last year as a success is the same type of person that lauds Golden for winning 9 at Temple.

It doesn't mean **** if every time you play a competent team on your schedule you lose. The "9 win" mantra is a fraud when you do it by beating up on the bad teams on your schedule. Let me repeat...Homeboy is 1-11 during his time at Miami against teams with a winning record. You add to that the face we almost lost to bad Wake and NC teams and I just don't see how any Hurricane fan in their right mind can be happy with what took place last year, especially when you consider it was Al's 3rd year here.

I'll give Al credit if/when he consistently beats the better teams on the schedule...that's the only measure of success that matters in college football.

Schools with no tradition of history or winning talk about moral victories. Have we fallen that far?

Well, we've got problems, but we have a bunch of bright spots. Tough for even the mopiest of mopes to deny our talent. WR group looks strong and can be among the best if Malc and Scott can get back. Coley is such a ******* freak of nature.

Duke and Yearby being out looks to have a silver lining. Gus is getting a ton of reps and Tucker looks better than I hoped.

We should have a decent pass rush this year, outstanding compared to the last few years. We still have issues, but dammit man.....I can't help but be excited.

I thought the defense....granted it was only a few clips....looked pretty good. We have more size, experience, and skill than we have had in a while. If Wyche can come in and contribute in the fall, it will be all for the better.

I'm excited about the offense....but the problems with the defense go wayyyy beyond the talent. You can inject as much talent as you want into that abomination of a scheme but when players are being asked to do things they should NEVER be doing, well you're going to get the same result every time.

You guys call those of us that call it like we see it a mope..we call you cheerleaders. At the end of the day we are all Canes fans. Burying your head in the sand and ignoring the big problem won't change the outlook when it's the same scheme being run year after year.

I want us to win just as bad as you...and when there is something to be optimistic about I say it. Right now however...the "problems" you refer to are the entire ******* defense. That goes way beyond a "problem", it's a an epidemic relatively speaking. I think we've all been watching football long enough to know you can't win with a defense THAT broken.

So yeah...Coley is a ******* stud. However unless Golden either completely changes his scheme or gets fired guess what...Coley's time here will be wasted.

Gus, coming off injury Duke and a true freshmen coming off a major injury is no improvement of our depth over Gus, Duke and Dallas.

Yes, we DO have some sick talent on the roster and honestly it makes me more sad than anything. Sad at the fact that we have a Jiffy lube crew tuning up our Ferraris.

We call it like we see it as well! This team has more talent on both sides of the ball than we've had in years.
"realists" don't always have to be negative nancy mopes. My realism sees a team headed in the right direction and looking at a 10+ win season. I look forward to another 6 months of subjective negativity on your part and a handful of others.

I am on the record as a man that thinks the scheme is bad for what we have, but an infusion of talent might unlock the scheme and help us field a competent defense. I never like when a scheme does not make the most of the players it has, but if you can find the guys you need the scheme can work.

This absolute position that the D will never work, regardless of the talent, is retarded. You get enough studs on a team and any scheme will work. This is year two of the full install of the 3-4 scheme. I have no choice but to hope the new guys recruited for this scheme can make it work.

For the 1-11 crew, again, this is the BEST roster he has had while here. You can't bury Shannon for not building a deep roster then jump on Al when he produces ****** resulsts with the bare roster. Dude isn't an elite coach but may turn out to be a decent coach if he can get to 10 wins this year. You don't have to be an elite coach to win big at Miami.
