Can we talk about what’s ACC/Refs beef with Miami

They lost the last bit of credibility they had when the said the guy on the sidelines catch at the end had control and that losing control before going out of bounds didn't matter. They lied to the nation and made it be true. The guy on the booth was so impressed they ****ed up right in front of the viewers he just went right along with it.
He said he had control before it moved in hands. wtf is that? 🤣🤣🤣

Our players don’t sell it. It’s a game IQ thing. Yesterday I saw a OL 2 hand shove C Smith around a pile up. Smith just points to the official who moves in between and gives the OL a talking to. Compare that to the Mauigoa shove against LVille where the player went flying like he was shot out of a cannon. Francis is strong but not that strong.

Point being until Bain and the others start selling it they’re not gonna get the call. You have to make it look obvious.
That's coaching

I've said this several times: we're dealing with people who have inherent bias.
It's quite likely that several, if not all, of the refs went to a school that, in our heyday, Miami humiliated.
So now they're in a position to exact some form of revenge.
If I were a ref and had the chance to ***** FSU, I would absolutly 100% do it!

No one will be able to convince me otherwise.

The first play should’ve been off setting penalties, giving us another crack, but this specific play was the correct call. It’s the same call we got last yr vs. UL w Ward that their fans complained about. As long the QB has control of the ball & his arm is going forward, even if the reason his arm is going forward due to the momentum hit from behind, they r going to get the benefit call.

This call is the new “gather step” that the NBA allows to justify traveling.
A DL falling down at the OLs feet isn't holding. The first play shouldn't have been flagged for a hold on us and clearly should have been flagged a hold on them. And then on top of that they pulled the flag. Those three things happening on the same critical play is just too many coincidences for me to think there isn't something going on.

I always ask myself what would have happened if it was the other way around. Bain can't buy a hold and prob is held more than any other player in college. If Miami pulls a receivers arm like that every ref on the field is calling it. There is no way they are pulling it at a crucial moment. On the final int if one of our DBs drags a WR to ground like that they are calling it every single time.

There is clear bias and with what's going on in the NBA and with Miami's betting lines something is off. If the refs were being honest and they know they've called one team for a ton of critical penalties they're not going to just let them play on the other side of the ball and pull flags. I honestly think it deserves an investigation.

We know we’re an undisciplined team and are going to be prone to committing more penalties than others just about every year.

But given that It’s beyond any measure of doubt that we are officiated differently from other teams, and a major reason why it continues is that we aren’t making enough of an effort to put a stop to it.

-Mario could work the officials hard during games like some coaches do, but he doesn’t. He largely just stands there.

-Mario and Rad could go off about it in pressers and in front of media (yes, you take the fine) and cite the glaring differential in opponent penalties.

-And along with that, they can push media to report it and pressure the ACC offices directly behind the scenes as well.

Some combo of those things likely closes the opponent penalty gap “tomorrow “ and results in a slight reduction on penalties incurred by us as well.

But we aren’t doing any of that.

I commented strictly on the plays posted in the OP. Everything else u’re saying is correct.

That line of thought is the same as the tuck rule.In no universe was he throwing the ball.

Agreed, but that’s the new era we’re in. The QB is given way too much leeway. I’ve had these convos w my boys who r former CIF refs. As soon as I saw the replay I pounded the table & said “these mutha fckas r going to overturn this.”

"Hey, his legs are falling off, we need to sew them back on!" Hey, what is this? Oh, its gangrene, not sure about that"

You all keep treating symptoms. What needs to happen is you file suit against the ACC contending it is disproportionally affecting Miami's ability to compete (aka financially) by not providing level officiating and in fact is hurting the program and conference by doing so...Someone mentioned an investigation. Who would do it? The ACC? LOL! A similar tact to what FSU and Clemson are doing, but a different area where the ACC's corruption is hurting programs, while keeping the GOR over their heads like the Sword of Damocles. This way you get discovery, this way you get Phillips and Riveron and predecessors on the stand and you get the current and past refs on the same stands...Heck, add them as principles in the suit. When some part-time guy is worried about their business, they will sing.

The time to fart around is over; the ACC "Officiating Transparency" gambit is them popping an M714 smoke, there needs to be action taken now.

@Rellyrell

Remember our convo on the board about this very subject... i think it was in the superbowl thread... one of em. do you think they're ready for the truth?

Fans views r very myopic. The fact is we have a referee problem, & even a former NFL O-Linemen went on wax saying refs can be very biased. He said he would get preferential treatment on holding calls just b/c he was nice to the crew before games. He said the staff would literally get info on who was ref’ing games, & use that intel to butter them up, & it would work on borderline calls.

Y do u think they pander to Mahomes & Reid?

Appreciate this. It's that third column that interests me. Penalties called against, in and of itself, could be explained away by pointing out we are an undisciplined football team under Mario. Mario's teams at Oregon also suffered from tons of penalties, so there's plenty of support for that theory.

But it's much harder to explain away the infrequency of calls against our opponenets relative to their average. Like, SMU average 6 penalties against per game. They had 4 penalties for 40 yards against us. That seems to be a common them. If teams get fewer calls against playing us compared to those teams' own average, that seems like stronger evidence of bias against us.
Yes.

So you don't have the integrity to rise above such things? Honest people don't take out petty biases and grievances on kids and coaches who have nothing to do with the perceived crimes of their ancestors. It is analogous to certain political actors who wish to blame/shame modern persons for things their remote ancestors did to other people's remote ancestors.

Too sick to watch this game back but friend at the game told me they picked up a flag on the Marion PI? Why? Uncatchable? Isn’t it a hold regardless. Pulled at his jersey. What in the world is the explanation? I didn’t even think one was thrown.
Not following that sequence. And not sure Francis was much of a hold. Guy kinda just folded right in front of him.

The lightfoot penalty could’ve went either way. He held him up - kinda BS to call that in that situation. We’ve had a lot worse not called against us this season.

There was one official in particular who seemed to go against us on everything but I don’t want to sound like some conspiracy theorist.

Everything that could have went wrong today did.
Far from uncatchable.

Can someone do a deep statistical dive on this? If we could get data going back many years, the evidence would be overwhelming. I wish Miami would do its homework and take the ACC to task in court over this blatant cheating.
