Cam Davis Update - FWIW

Bruh the kid isn't that good fam.

He had the chance to be the man and wet the bed at CC.

**** that Charlie Jones thing was a bit much huh? LOLOLOLOL

Charlie Jones is a saint. Dude single handily got me recruited after I tackled him about 6 times in ‘03.

Charlie if you’re reading they know not what they speak of.

#1 - How do you know what his stats were?

#2 - If he indeed only had 300 yards rushing, was it because of his ability or something else?

Obviously he doesn't suck. Obviously he's a kid who can gain much more than 300 yards in a high school season. (see: his junior tape)

What I'm saying makes plenty of sense cause I'm basing it off what I've seen from his high school career. Not only does he play much better competition than Lingard but he's already accustomed to running within a similar scheme. That's what I'm betting on.

Here's the 2017 Carol City rushing stats from the Miami Herald. I think it didn't include the last 2 or 3 games, but it's most of the season.

Cam's poor stats are a red flag, but the bigger red flag is he's averaging 3.5 ypc when everyone else is averaging around 6+. That's a big concern.

I think Cam is getting too much credit for one game (Mainland), kind of how Charlie Jones and Kylan Robinson also got too much credit for having 1 huge game.

As a South Florida coach I can tell you with 100% certainty that Miami's Herald's stats are wrong. (they always are)
The only way Herald receives stats is if (A) they have a staff member at the game or (B) a coach calls the stats in to the paper. (which isn't guaranteed to be accurate either cause coaches lie about their player's stats all the time) Most coaches don't even call in the stats.

If this is what people are looking at then SMH.

How can anybody watch this kid's tape and actually think that he's a 3.5 YPC player in high school?

A kid who's tape is full of long runs against athletic high schools only averages 3.5 yards per carry?

Stats mean nothing in high school anyway. Never met a recruiter/coach who asked me what a kid's stats were.

Is it me, or does Wilder have a miserable and a disinterested look on his face in pretty much every picture/video. Something tells me this kid wanted to go to Auburn, but his offer was not a committable offer...and ended up staying home based on our needs at the position.

Yep, I agree Plantcity3...Wilder looks bored all the time with anything UM...spot on

He probably acts like that because Aubrey Hill is a ****.

A little too much sunshine in that pic for my liking. I need to see more scowls, some gold teeth and a few kids being put in sleeper holds. Maybe a gun handle peeking from under someone's jersey.

You know more than me, but I would think they're pretty accurate. They have a database going back to 2004 and there's rarely any games missing for any player.

I totally agree they may include some bias, but it's not like if a RB runs goes 10 for 50 yds 1 TD it's getting reported as 10 for 100 yds 2 TD's. But they may be adding on a couple yards here and there.

The main thing for me is in the 9 or 10 games they had stats for, Cam is doing considerably worse than everyone else in the same backfield. Cam's at a 3.5 ypc when the other RB's are around a 6.0 ypc.

If the person reporting it is inflating stats for all players, then maybe Cam is actually averaging 2.5 and everyone else 5.0. The other players are still doing twice as good - and that's the red flag.

I don't see a realistic scenario where everyone is actually averaging 5.0 ypc, but the person reporting the stats is inflating Volaskis Watkins to 6.8 and deflating Cam to 3.5

He was just 3.5 yards his Senior season. If you go to his Hudl page you can see just his 2017 highlights. Camron Davis on Hudl

It starts with a nice 70-80 yd TD catch and two 35 yard TD runs. But then that's it for big plays. It turns into runs from his spring game, more catches, some blocks, and 10-20 yd runs (you can see flags flying on some of these runs so they might not have even counted)

His Junior tape was much better, when he averaged 6.7 ypc. But even then, it's still below the 8.0 ypc you'd expect a really good RB to be around. Again, I think the Mainland game where he went 9 for 156, 17.3 ypc, and 3 TD's is being weighed too heavily.

I think Cam has really good speed and can hit a huge play when he has space. But he needs space, and the big runs he hits probably aren't coming every 5 - 10 carries, they're coming every 15 - 20 carries. It's feast or famine, with too much famine.

My take is Cam can hit a big play when the hole is there, but he looks very tightly built where lateral movement & changing Direction is a real struggle for him. He's pretty much a straight line guy.

Did he just agree with himself hours later or am I missing something???

Is this serious? This isn't a serious post, right? This can't be serious.

Charlie if you’re reading they know not what they speak of.

When I was a freshman (or sophomore, I cant remember, it was a drunken blur) , went to AJ Trumps house for a party, and in a drunken haze went up to Charlie Jones asking him how Chicago was... mistaking him for Devin Hester. He actually was nice about it hahaha. I was expecting to die.

Fūck all y’all about Charlie Jones.

Like you bltches forgot that one game against VagTech, like it doesn’t count. It counts gdamit.

Bunch of fūcking ingrates.
