2028 Brysen Wright WR Mandarin

People keep messing up this “budget” thing

It’s been confirmed and proven if we identify someone we think changes the team, there is no budget. Cantwell was a good example

I’m sure Wright fits into this category. There is no budget when it comes to landing him and his money doesn’t effect us going after other recruits
If we lost him its just a cope for those not being able to take the L that someone out recruited Mario thats all. Something for those type a fans to fall back on in case we dont get him, they cant think of someone choosing another HC over Mario. Thats all that is
Bro we literally just walked from our #1 RB strictly due to $. Money we have but didn't want to spend.

I don't know what you are using to support this fallacy, but I strongly disagree.
Not looking for a fight with you and I don't really agree with who/what you are replying to, but....this is where the support for the "fallacy" is coming from:

CBs make significantly more than WRs in the NFL. Pick it apart all you like. I'm not picking sides on this, simply providing the factual evidence.

Have a nice day.

That's ok, we don't have to agree. Just making conversation.
I try to support my opinions with 3 decades of successful coaching and 4 decades of watching. Plus, what I said the premier positions are align with Mario and what he has displayed are his top priorities, so that is what will be the blueprint regardless of what you and I want.
Hopefully we will both be satisfied next year when we lock up Wright AND Sears, along with 4-5 more top 75 players for 2028.
I'm just honored you responded to my post without too much hate or any name calling. Lol

We also have No Cut.
who can get a huge bag anywhere in CFB and I am sure anyone will offer it. Wright will get anything from us, anything. If we lose him it wont be money it will be relationships imo. Right now we have the best relationship with him but others can make up ground.

This is literally all I am saying. No Wright is NOT the most important recruit in years. Cantwell was. Jacobs is. Bryant was.

I understand what you're trying to do/say. A LOT of what you have said is true, however a LOT of what you said also is either untrue or lacks the understanding of the nuance behind it. Let's use your Myson example. What you wrote is true, by all accounts he was our #1 target and we didn't want to match Auburn. However, you're using an RB and the associated budget for him and his position to justify what you're saying about a different player playing a different position. You don't see the difference? Also, these things are not simply interchangeable and binary in nature. Each situation, each player, each deal is different. There is no "formula" or set budget. There may be guidelines. There may be some budgeting and some positions/players may have budgeted allocations. However it's been shown time and again that there isn't any real set budget by position.

I don't know if what I wrote makes sense to you or not. I am trying to be respectful (it's hard man - pause) as I reply back and forth. Pardon me if it comes out clunky.

We've already paid a premium for a position that's not premium. We've made that investment. So people saying we will go after Wright because we paid No Cut are wrong. We would be less likely to keep offering bids in the bidding war because we do already have a premium player in a not premium position.

That's why I posted it. Cway has a love affair with receivers. I don't know why, but he does. It's not even a knock on him. I'm drawn to watching line play. Most people would think I'm the dummy for watching the big uglies instead of the guys scoring acrobatic TDs. All that doesn't change the data. That's why I posted the graphic - it backed up what you were saying in terms of strategizing by position. Some of the wording of other things you've stated were ambiguous, confusing or misleading which is probably why you're getting some pushback here.

I 100% agree with this part. Wright may be worth it, I am not a scout.

I dont believe the idea that averaging out the total compensation of 6 roster spots indicates the overall value of a position. 1st round picks, starter salary and trade compensation are much more indicative of value. 5th and 6th WRs are special teams players typically making near the minimum. It dilutes the information. Leonard Moore and Jeremiah Smith have been the best at their respective positions for 2 years and their is no world a GM drafts Moore ahead of Smith. When those two players are eligible for extensions Smith will make 10-15 mil more per year on average if they both are all pro level players. Their are multiple teams with more than one receiver making excess of 30 million. How many teams have corners valued that high?

Cornerback is undoubtedly a premium position, but in the NFL they do not make more money than wide receivers.

The NFL’s highest-paid wide receiver earns $42.15 million in Average Annual Value (AAV) compared to $31 million for the highest-paid cornerback.

Wide receiver

Highest three-year APY:

1. Jaxon Smith-Njigba (SEA), $42 million

Signed: March 2026 (contract ends in 2032)

2. Ja'Marr Chase (CIN), $38 million
3. Justin Jefferson (MIN), $35 million
4. CeeDee Lamb (DAL), $34 million
5. DK Metcalf (PIT), $33 million

Cornerback
Highest three-year APY:

1. Trent McDuffie (LAR), $31 million

Signed: March 2026 (contract ends in 2030)

2. Sauce Gardner (IND), $30.1 million
3. Derek Stingley Jr. (HOU), $28.3 million
4. Jaycee Horn (CAR), $28.2 million
5. Jalen Ramsey (PIT), $24.1 million

Total guaranteed money:

1. Jaxon Smith-Njigba (SEA), $120 million

Signed: March 2026 (contract ends in 2032)

2. Ja'Marr Chase (CIN), $112 million
3. Justin Jefferson (MIN), $110 million
4. CeeDee Lamb (DAL), $100 million
5. Garrett Wilson (NYJ), $90 million

Total guaranteed money:

1. Trent McDuffie (LAR), $100 million

Signed: March 2026 (contract ends in 2030)

2. Sauce Gardner (NYJ), $85.4 million
3. Derek Stingley Jr. (HOU), $83.5 million
4. Pat Surtain II (DEN), $73.9 million
5. Jaycee Horn (CAR), $72 million

And as far as average salary by position is concerned, this is a chart from Spotrac in September 2025:

A discussion could certainly be had as to whether the gap should truly be that wide. But if we’re talking strictly about financials and which positions NFL franchises invest in the most, it’s an open and shut case.

Rather than arguing for the sake of not wanting to say you're wrong, how about doing some research and posting it to back up your point? Rather than picking apart the google searches others have done (and posted), how about you bring something to the party? If you're right, the numbers and data will support it. What I posted supports the idea that you are wrong about this. Prove it the other way if you are so sure of it.

Thank you for posting real data/info.

Why do you insist on sending messages to me. I think you are a puppet. To be clear I mean @TheOriginalCane manipulates his hand inside your *** to formulate a response. I dont care. I'm not going to care. You are wasting whatever fleeting time you have remaining. Gg.
