Braxton Berrios

Exactly. Nobody hates him. By all accounts he's an awesome kid. Some of us are just counteracting, which apparently you can't do around here without being labeled a hater.

A lot of narrative switching in this thread, can't say that I'm surprised. Now it's about whether someone "likes", "loves", or "hates" him. Notice that no one who is in opposition to his 3 years and running unearned offseason hype machine (it's quiet during the actual seasons) are not using these type of deflection s or making this personal. Rather they are reference is stats and lackluster performance thus far, compared to the type of attention and exaggerated impact many claim he has.

It shouldn't be about a fans emotional ties to a player. His play speaks for itself. Now a poster is advocating that it's cool to like him just because he is white lol. At least he is honest.

So now his lack of production is due to. His former roommate Kaaya who admitted Berrios is his favorite target in the past, didn't target him enough. It couldn't be that Berrios wasn't open and struggled to get separation even though film shows this. Then dudes say that they trust Richt completely, but to save Berrios' face, say Richt didn't play him in his proper and most effective position (the slot) lol! Berrios' success has obviously been attached to some fan's self-esteem.

or he was a highly recruited, hyped national recruit, who went to the opening finals & set the record for best shuttle time among a group of athletically elite kids. regardless of his skin color, a kid who comes in with that kind of athletic talent & hype surrounding him, will generally get the benefit of the doubt among fans. even more so from those that vouched for him during recruiting and early on his career. their validation as a person who "knows talent" depends on it. people see his pure athletic potential(he's also one of the fastest 40 times on the team), and get excited about how it could translate if only the right opportunity presented itself.

but, maybe im wrong. lets look at some examples of similarly hyped, athletic players that came to miami, under performed their first few years, and fans reactions/expectations each off season. choc gray is a recent one that comes to mind. he wasnt a national recruit, but he was extremely hyped by locals and their "rep" as a talent evaluator depends on his ultimate success. this is why you see so many people blaming not him, but the fact that the coaches play him in the wrong position. it's not their prediction for gray's talent that was wrong, but the coaches application of it. tracey howard is another, very hyped, under performed, and yet people still kept expecting greatness. im sure there are plenty more. but, im open to some counter examples.

Braxton Berrios: the most highly discussed wide receiver in Canes history to average one catch per game.

Say what you will about the guy but he's one of just four players on offense who has done anything.

Richards, Walton, Herndon, Berrios.

Nobody else has done chit.

Nice list. Hard to argue with.

I didn't totally agree with the horizontal format however.

List wasn't long enough to go vertical.

Here's a list of skill players that have yet to accomplish a single thing here:

Shirreffs
Allison
Weldon
Perry
Homer
Gray
Burns
Irving
Haskins
Polendey
Harris
Cager
Thomas
Harley
Mullins
Dallas
Langham
Njoku

The scary part is that we'll be counting on several of them.

At least 6 will have to score a TD maybe 8. Non-QB of course.

exactly this

Its like u cant say anything bad **** is ridiculous...............got the SJW on here too

I'll keep saying it until I'm blue in the face, he needs to get his weight down. He was more effective as a freshman before putting on about 20 lbs of stupid muscle he doesn't need.

Having less than 300 yards is effective? Lol

Broke,

No. But he was more effective as a freshman imo, which is what I said originally.

His freshman season was his most productive. Last year he had 12 catches and 4 of them were in the bowl game.

People are STILL expecting a breakout season because of a shuttle time he posted four years ago.

Go watch that FSU tape and look at his returns should have housed that one in the fourth quarter

Tommy Streeter's junior season might outproduce Braxton's entire UM career.

Tommy Streeter's junior season outproduced a lot of UM wrs entire UM career... he was the #1 target, 6'5" with speed, and had a QB with much better touch than Kaaya throwing it to him.
