Blaming the good players

Or maybe Kaaya just isn't that good, maybe he is just average. There is nothing he is elite at. He could be good with elite talent around him. But without elite talent all his weaknesses get exposed big time.

Kaaya has been between average and terrible every game this year but FSU.

He was "between average and terrible" against Virginia last week? Virginia Tech? Nebraska?

He played crappy against UNC but has generally looked like I expected. He is going to match or exceed last year's strong numbers despite a non-existent running game and struggling OL.

Kaaya is not a great QB right now, he may eventually develop into that with the help of the right coach. But at this moment, he deserves criticism for his play as does every other underachiever on this roster.

I think those guys are pretty good players but butch put out hall of famers to the league and guys that made the pro bowl consistently. We got some pretty good ballwrs but too many sfla misses

The safety he committed in the UVA game was one of the worse football plays I've ever seen in my life and the pick before the half wasn't much better. Again, I'm not burying the kid, but there is also no reason to crown him as he hasn't accomplished anything.

What are all his problems besides he doesn't run like vick and throw like rodgers?

Dmoney, I am a canes fan. What the guys in your OP went on to do in the pros is great, but that is hardly relevant, or information that renders criticism wrong. None of those guys were all americans or national award winners, and none of those guys ever won 10 games here. Don't let your own standard of excellence deteriorate along with the athletic department and board of trustees.

Kaaya >>>>>Rosier all day ...come on guys... Some of you are just overreacting to the ****** season we have had.

Kaaya is suffering from the same fate that Kyle Wright did. It is hard to be transcendent when you are being punched in the mouth every other dropback. You show me a great QB and I guarantee he is the product of great line play.

Improve the OL play next season and you will see the difference.

Kayaa is definitely not the problem. I'll add people killing Stacey Coley for the last year and half too, when he's by far our most talented skill position player.

The run game has been giving us nothing, yet when we're down 30 and in obvious 3rd and long passing situations, we're still calling play action passes. That, and not at least giving Choc some carries to see if he can give a spark is beyond me. I'm all for keep Coley on staff somehow for recruiting reasons, but I can't wait for a new OC.

Well there is a lot of players on the team that have not lived up to expectations.

Losing for a decade sucks.

In the midst of this pain, Miami fans have picked up a dumb habit. When things go wrong, we blame our good players for "not being as good as we hyped them to be." Then, when these same guys get to the NFL, they turn out to be even better than we ever hoped.

Calais Campbell- Low-motor, plays too high, slow, glorified cheerleader.
Greg Olsen- Soft, chokes in big games, average hands.
Travis Benjamin- Soft, can't run routes.
Allen Bailey- JAG, stiff.
Orlando Franklin- Dumb, belongs in the CFL.

Last year, Duke Johnson was the target. Now he's making TD catches on Thursday Night Football. This year, people are choosing to dump on Brad Kaaya.

Hopefully, the new coach turns this around fast. It would be nice to appreciate Kaaya while he's still in a Canes uniform.

They were all very good players at Miami. So much of this has to do with coaching. Go look at Campbell's production when John Palermo was the DL position coach. He did a **** of a job with Kareem Brown. Greg Olsen suffered under Rich Olson. Dan Werner was scapegoated and should have never been fired. What Werner did with Berlin in 2004 and Wright in 2005 are great illustrations. Wright was lost under Olson and Nix. Bailey was all-conference. Benjamin had a very good career. Franklin was wrongly criticized.

the safety was a terrible call. the play consisted of only one passing option (Scott). mind you this is with our terrible offensive line, being in our own endzone, and our coaches knowing that kaaya isn't mobile. this is an example of not putting players in position to succeed

I'm with you on a lot of what you're saying, but not the numbers. This offense produces a ton of empty stats. As just one example, he produced close to half his yards and the TD drives after the game was already 45-0. More importantly, the offense struggles mightily in meaningful situations. Kaaya is a part of that. I place more of the blame on his coordinator than on him, but he needs some work, too, of course.

I've never said Kaaya was bad but he isn't the 1st round QB half the board says he is. Kaaya at this point is very average. His OL isn't perfect but no ones is. I hope with a new OC Kaaya tak s the next step. I know he is working hard and a good kid but the data doesn't suggest he is great or elite.

Kaaya is leading the ACC in passing with a swiss cheese O line. He is the real deal. Now one can argue systems and a running read option qb but a well executed prostyle system can work but it requires a top flight O line. The read option allows you to have a less talented O line and achieve success.Thats why its better in college football.

he may be a good pro for the very fact he is tall and has a reasonable IQ. but let's no kid ourselves here 1 to 2 guys per year, if that, become serviceable pro quarterbacks. it isn't the easiest transition.
