Blake James interview 7-23-15

And my prediction is actually for 11-3. I think most Canes fans would be pretty happy with an ACC Championship at this juncture.

Wow. The guy has never won more than 9 games in a season as a head coach in his career. He's one game under .500 lifetime and 0-3 in bowl games. 6-7 last year to 11-3? Admittedly I'm low balling in my own 4-8 prediction. But, honestly I don't see how they get to 6 wins. The head guy just has never proven he can win against a good opponent. The defense he runs is awful. You can't win 11 games with a lousy defense. It's not about talent, although we are thin in the talent department. The team consistently underperforms, that tells me it's broken at the top and I don't think Golden is going to change the way he thinks about the game. My prediction is 4-8 because I think that the team will collapse under its own weight with Golden. This is the year the wheels come off, IMO.

@11-3

This has been the consistent buzz of all of the credible insiders on this and other boards. Coastal at a minimum. There is no excuse to post or respond to anymore negative Al golden topics untill the season is over. Let's be football fans and let it play out. Unfortunately you can back into the Coastal title at 8-4 by other teams losing key games and then get toasted in the title game. That would be unfortunate but we can fight that battle when we get there.

I've never heard him say win unless it was in reference to an "off the field" win.

Now we are talking winning football games again? We back?

I'll believe it when Golden goes 8-4 and actually gets fired

"I don’t want any one of our coaches or student athletes saying we are going to lose these four or three or two games or whatever. Let’s go win every game.”

Best thing he's said in three years.

Still **** him until proven otherwise.

Talk is cheap! He didn't hire Golden and had the opportunity to fire his *** this year and bring in someone else.

Blake likes butch. thats a fact. Second, u guys attack the wrong people. he took orders from Donna the same way Coach D runs Golden's defense.

"You guys, he isn't incompetent. He's just a spineless shill solely interested in self preservation."

Because that's better.

In fairness to Blake I don't think he had the green light to fire golden last year. But therein lies the problem. He should have authority as the AD but he doesn't and he seems ok with that as long as it preserves his job.

James still lacks authority and is still an empty incompetent suit unless proven otherwise.

Best thing that ever happened was shalala bouncing that ***** was basically the ad

Yeah they've got a regular Clint Eastwood running the show now. A real man's man. Everything about him just screams alpha-male.

or just doing what his BOSS told him to do. Its clear Golden is still around because Shalala lied
to him about NCAA and she didnt want to be the one who fired him. thats it.

so he's confident Al is taking steps in improving the team but doesn't no for sure if he is or what those steps are?

"In fact, athletic director Blake James said he believes UM has enough talent to compete for the ACC's Coastal Division title this season."

This about sums up the AD's mentality.

Palmetto High School has enough talent to compete for a Coastal title.

right? why are people acting like the costal is that competitive? georgia tech and maybe Louisville are the only teams doing anything and wouldn't be surprised if tech regresses like that have been up and down year to year.

Blah blah. If Golden doesn't win and u don't can his A$$ u need to jump off a cliff, waste James

Lol don't comment on this board until you know what teams are in the Coastal. Louisville is not.

so you mean i was giving the coastal division even more credit than deserved? my apologies. the coastal is a horse sh*t division with horse sh*t competition. winning it is not a big enough accomplishment in my eyes. it's acc champ or bust.

I have zero faith in this powerless puppet. On top of the fact he's not very intelligent he strikes me as having zero balls.

This issue here is the definition of "acceptability". The fact that fat piece of **** was given a mulligan after losing SEVEN games in his FOURTH full year with a team full of talent and a relatively decent schedule tells you everything you need to know.

Root for as many losses as earthly possible given that weak *** schedule.

It's funny, we NEVER heard him sound like this when shalala was the president... Hmmmm

Once a *****, always a *****. Wake me up when he actually does something that resembles what a REAL AD would do.

We haven't won the Coastal Division since we came to the ACC. That should be our first goal over anything. You cant win anything without winning your Division first.
