Benedict Cristobal is gone

Now back to the original intent of what my post was for, if a person leaves for a pay increase to do the same job, I believe it would be hypocritical for anyone to criticize that person for doing it, as if you were offered a job in the same capacity for much more, you probably would take it.

Not after 1 month on the job at your alma-mater no less.
Geez, some of you folks....total lack of ethics.

LULZ at the dudes who think this kind of disgusting **** can be explained away by a pay raise. Sometimes, you just have to do what's right even if someone is waving a few extra dollars in your face. CrystalBall is being paid very handsomely BY HIS ALMA MATER, and let's not lose track of this other point either--WE JUST HIRED THE MOTHERF#CKER A MONTH AGO!!!! There's a time and a place for this social climbing bullshyt that everyone seems to be so enamored with, and this is not the time or place for it.

I think you got me wrong. I am not in the least bit happy about it. All I said is we as fans loose perspective of the business side of these things. This is a business to coaches, they come and they go. Randy stayed loyal to this place till he was fired, then sued us. Butch up and left, and Jimmy up and left for.............MORE MONEY, but for the most parts are regarded as saints. Cogley left FSU for the U for what, to call plays and be closer to his home. We had Gators for position coaches Aubrey Hill, that left us for their alma matter just to up and left there shortly after?

People have come and people have left the program. It's going to happen. Sure, after 2 weeks, I think the really friggin sucks. To the best of my knowledge, he hasn't officially left yet. Either way, the business side of most everything is what is important for these guys, it is their profession as much as we want it to be something other. Do I like it, no. Am I grown up enough to deal with it, I believe so. Are others, we will see.

So for those who say loyalty is a two-way street and employers arent always loyal to their employees, I get that

But when has UM ever been disloyal to Cristobal?

First off, we're so far out of the loop as to what's going on, that it's ridiculous to even speculate.

Here's an extensive list of things we don't know:

--Why was Mario brought on at UM? Was it for recruiting purposes only? Was he ****ed by the hiring of Coley?
--What was the nature of his contract with UM? How much is he getting paid? We have "rumors" about this, but no one knows for sure.
--Most importantly, is he even interviewing with Bama at all? There has been no confirmation of the original "report" as far as I know. So thus far, most folks on this board are crucifying Mario on the word of some internet chump without any corroboration.

How about let's allow this thing to play about before we go accusing anyone of being disloyal.

My original point was simply that, in general, employers are not all that loyal to their employees at present, therefore it makes sense to keep your options open.

If he publicly removed his name from consideration it would look good for the program.
C'mon, Mario.

Butch and Jimmy didn't leave 6 weeks after taking a job from their alma maters. Mario in a couple of interviews stated that he had other offers but going back to coach at his alma mater and staying in his home town was too good to pass up. Now he's entertaining thoughts of moving to Alabama? Wtf

Mario is not just "an employee."
It's not like he is 1 of 1000 outside sales reps or something like that. His official title is Assistant Head Coach and in his short tenure Golden has made it pretty clear that Mario, Coley and D'nofrio are the lieutenants he values the most.
You are correct most employers are not married to their employees. A lot of us have found that out first hand, but this is different.
Blake is the CEO, Golden is the President and Mario is the newly hired Sr. VP.
Guys in his position don't start job shopping after a month. Just doesn't happen unless there's some serious rancor being felt.
If it is just a courtesy call ok, but I can't imagine Golden happily giving Mario permission. There's nothing in it for Golden or the program. Nothing at all. No matter how the P.R. people spin it, the interview looks bad for us as a program.

I guess im in the minority but didnt he interview with rutgers when he was at fiu? And he decided to stay. There is nothing wrong with exploring your options. It sucks but I cant knock a man for hearing what someone has to offer.

If he leaves I would agree on him selling miami out and being a traitor but until then I will take a wait and see approach.

"Exploring your options" is the new euphemism for engaging in scumbaggery. Go f#ck a new chick and just tell your wife you were exploring your options because you thought the new chick's pu$$y might be tighter.

At this point he only ordered a drink and asked the waitress if she is single. If he asks her to go to the bathroom (2nd interview) and destroys her, then I will be upset.

Considering that there is no confirmation that he's actually interviewed for anything, you're making a mountain out of a molehill at this point.

Could be true but I thought someone confirmed he was at the restaurant?

Doesn't mean he got a drink or talked to a waitress.

Coaches visit other schools all the time. Even if it's confirmed that he's at Bama, he could be checking out their strength program, or getting pointers on their nutrition program, or any host of other things that coaches do as part of their jobs.

I've seen no one confirm that he was there specifically to interview for a position, or that he has even talked to anyone about the possibility of a position.

I agree with that but being raised in South Florida and having lived there for many, many years I also know that a molehill is a mountain in South Florida both literally and figuratively.

So when spring practice starts and Mario is out coaching the kids up on Greentree instead of getting a bigger and more prestigious NFL paycheck are you all going to be saying the same ****?

I agree 100% with this. Aside fr a single report yesterday, that really was not confirmed by ANY other sources, we have heard nothing further on this matter. Has there been any type of update today, because I have searched around and found nothing.

I was under the impression it was confirmed. Lulz if it hasn't.

My guess at this point would be if it was false something would have been sent out by someone?
As the saying goes "the silence is deafening".

Well it depends on what "confirmed" is.

247 Bama, 247 Canes, Canes Insider and the Miami Herald have all said to have "confirmed" the original report through their sources. TFWIW

Do a basic google search and you'll find that out.

As far as I can tell, it's all based on the 247Sports.com rumor and has not been independently confirmed. E.g, Sporting News is reporting that "According to 247Sports.com...", and the Herald is reporting that "according to a source".
