Benedict Cristobal is gone

Or maybe he isn't all in with Golden. If he takes the gig, I think it would be very telling about his perception of the program under Golden.

Jesus you're sure trying to find ways to bash Golden in an underhanded way. To me......I think it's a telling way about my perception he's a douche bag.

Not the case at all. I'm a Golden fan and think he's the right guy for the program. He's had some hiccups along the way, but I think he can fix them.

I'm just pointing out that if he leaves, it could be because of Golden whether good or bad. On the other hand, as Chise pointed out, it could just a easily be because Mario is an idiot if he takes this gig at this time.

Personally, if he leaves, I hope Miami never takes him back as a coach. That bridge would be burned.

I guess I'm the only one not worried at about him leaving. I'm cool either way. We finally have a competent coach. If Mario leaves, I'm wondering which direction Golden will go. He could add a QB coach, but I'd like to see him follow the model of some other programs and bring in a guy like Kevin Patrick to coach D-ends.

Just a thought..

Do we even know if he has actually interviewed, or will?

Or is this mini-meltdown based on a 'report'.

I am really not sure why some of you are flipping out. It is just a courtesy to the best coach in the country. If he takes the job, then rip him but for now it is nothing.

I live on Smith lake in Alabama, second cleanest in the country. There are many, many things that are much better than most states. I moved there after living in SF for over 21 years and still spend most of the winters down there, except this year I'm staying in Vegas. All of that **** you have heard about southern states is all BS and I come from the North East originally.

Mario isn't leaving Al like this. You guys ever heard of doing your "Due diligence"? NICK SABAN called him and asked him to interview. You don't say no to that I am sorry. If the CEO of Apple calls you and ask you to interview YOU GO even if you know you not accepting no matter what the offer. And **** if Nick opens the vault for Mario then you wish the guy well.

You guys better get used to this. The better we get the more assistants that are gonna bolt. Christobal and Coley will be gone within 3 years tops maybe 2. Donofrio was almost gone to temple from all reports. So within 3 years most of the staff will be gone. **** we lost two this year and we were a 7-6 team! The "Streets is Watching" and they know we have a **** good coaching staff that is VERY underpaid.

(The reason I say 3 years is because that is around the time when we stick our flag into College football again and claim it for Dade County! Lol. )

I agree with this as bad as it looks you have to take this interview and hear Saban out. That being said I believe coaches should commit to a school and stay for at least two years.

You dudes act like Saban is a deity and Alabama is the mecca. This dude doesn't walk on water. He can't part the sea. He's a f*cking football coach. You don't have to hear him out like he's the Pope, and you're some aspiring young cardinal. He's the HC of a rival program, and you just took this job with your alma mater a month ago. You don't do this.

Let me put it this way, I would never live in Alabama. I don't care if they pay me 3 times the money to do half the work, it is still Alabama and you have to spend most of your time there.

Now we have to bend over for the "courtesy" reach around from a head coach of another program? OK

Who is bending over and how does this hurt anyone at this point? Its just an interview.

That courtesy **** is horrible. Dudes are acting like Saban is to be worshiped. He's the HC of a rival program for f#ck's sake. The courteous thing to do would be treat your own employer with courtesy and to respectfully decline an interview with Saban.

Its not about worship but why burn a bridge with the best coach in the country with a strong coaching tree? Let him interview. If he wants to stay, he will. If he doesnt, would you really want him here anyways?

I am not a cane fan (Gator) but when did Bama become a rival school of the U? I dont think it was a "courtesy" interview I just think it is one of those interviews you have to take even if you have no intentions of leaving Miami. I dont think bad of Mario for taking the interview I would however if he actually left Miami so soon

Every school that is on your competitive level is your rival.....for national championships, recruits, coaches, etc......

I guess I just will never wrap my head around everyone saying "you have to take that interview".

In short......no you don't. It's really that simple.

First of all, we don't like you or anything you stand for. Secondly, Miami has always been an us against the world place. We're never gonna play 'Bama during "rivalry week" but they are a rival institution. They target the same players and have the same ultimate goal.

Bottom line is, it's a Cane thing, you and your redneck brethren just wouldn't understand.

Telling a coach at a rival program that your flattered by his interest but happy where you're at and not willing to disrespect your alma mater after only being here a month is far from burning a bridge. I'm really astonished that you guys don't see how scummy this is. The world's truly going to **** when this sort of thing is viewed as acceptable behavior.

Every D1 school is a rival, especially those who are where you want to be. You realize that Alabama and UM go up against each other for recruits right? That=rival.

I think its just a Cane thing which is cool. I don't consider Miami or Alabama as Florida's rivals. I see why you are upset with the whole Mario interview I just dont think he has done anything wrong yet.

Maybe Mario and Coley don't mix well?

Maybe, but I doubt it. Coley was Mario's O-Cord. and I would assume Mario is one of the main pushes to get Coley in or a personal reference. They at least knew each other well before Coley was hired here. I doubt Al hires Coley unless Mario gave him a glowing endorsement.

Maybe Coley turned into a complete ***** while working with Jimbo....who knows.

Good thing he turned down Rutgers and Pitt jobs because he was being not scummy.
