Benedict Cristobal is gone

Not that recruits pay any attention to stuff like this but, the fact that Bama would interview Cristobal for a job adds to his credibility. If Bama wanted him and we keep him then we have the sort of coach that is good enough to be on the "best" staff in the country.

I truly think we have the best staff in the country.
Before you start with the vitriol and lambasting, I know the results do not prove it in the won/loss column, but think of what this staff has overcome or is still in the process of overcoming.

How many coaches do you think would have stayed after getting this big stinking Shapiro **** dropped on their laps out of nowhere?
For a year all we heard was "the death penalty," and yet we still pulled in a stellar class last year and a really good class this year.
We finished well above any so called expert's projection last year and are the odds on favorite to win our division and make it to the ACCCG this coming year.
Golden has completely changed a septic environment and created out of absolutely nothing, in the face of the worst obstacles imaginable, a team with championship potential.

You tell me what other Coach could or would have done that?

Saban? Shiit no! How long did he last with the Dolphins?

If he's interviewing I would immediately fire him, you don't do that to your alma mater after one month period. Pete Garcia obviously knows more about Mario than Al Golden.

If true, what it really tells me is that Mario is not the strategic mind I'd hope he could become. It's a very short-sighted move.

First off, let me preface this with saying I'd be shocked if he went elsewhere. By all accounts, he turned down both Schiano and Chud for the Miami job.

Secondly, I think it would be short-sighted for anyone NOT to check all their options. If someone came at me with a possible job offer, even if I'm comfortable and happy with where I'm at, I'd be an idiot to not listen to what they have to offer. I'd actually question his intelligence if he didn't go through with an interview if they requested one, unless Golden explicitly blocks him from doing so.

And last but not least, he wouldn't have done this without informing Golden. You don't burn your coaching bridges for a "possibility."

Wait, wait, wait.

Pete Garcia is a big ole' idiot, regardless of how Cristobal handles himself at UM.

That said, if cristobal takes a position coach spot at Alabama after a month on the job, I'm straight done with the man.

If he stays, he continues to be the man who hung the moon.

I'm not sure how Cristobal isn't a HC right now to begin with.

Losing Jedd has been the biggest disappointment thus far (a close 2nd is not losing D'onofrio)

LoL he makes more here then he did as a HC at FIU

Mario made close to half a million of dólares at FIU and I'm pretty certain he makes less than that at UM.

I find it difficult to see him leaving to Bama unless he leaves his wife (she runs a business here that I do not believe is "transportable" to tuscalossa) and kids behind, something I do not believe he'll do.

And it would make Al Golden, UM and himself look real bad if he did this in his second month back. does not jive with his character.

Mario isn't leaving Al like this. You guys ever heard of doing your "Due diligence"? NICK SABAN called him and asked him to interview. You don't say no to that I am sorry. If the CEO of Apple calls you and ask you to interview YOU GO even if you know you not accepting no matter what the offer. And **** if Nick opens the vault for Mario then you wish the guy well.

You guys better get used to this. The better we get the more assistants that are gonna bolt. Christobal and Coley will be gone within 3 years tops maybe 2. Donofrio was almost gone to temple from all reports. So within 3 years most of the staff will be gone. **** we lost two this year and we were a 7-6 team! The "Streets is Watching" and they know we have a **** good coaching staff that is VERY underpaid.

(The reason I say 3 years is because that is around the time when we stick our flag into College football again and claim it for Dade County! Lol. )

I agree with this as bad as it looks you have to take this interview and hear Saban out. That being said I believe coaches should commit to a school and stay for at least two years.

It's one thing to listen to an offer over the phone. It'd be another thing altogether to fly over to really listen to the offer for another job about a month after you took one. As an employer, it'd make me wonder about your objective.

2 years would be nice but this guy is testing the waters before even 2 months.
He was hired in winter and it's not even spring.
An employer would look askance at this in any company in America, and in many of them would fire you.

I guess I can see that with regards to the short time frame in other industries, but coaching is so fluid and jobs change so rapidly, that I don't consider this much of a red flag for assistant positions. If I had the choice between coach A who is ambitious and looking to advance his career and coach B who is happy to remain as is, I'd go with coach A every time (all things equal).

A couple more things that makes this easier to take for me is 1. This is a position coach we are talking about, not the HC, which to me would be a no-no if he's looking one month after landing a gig. 2. It's Cristobal. He loves the U too much to put them in a disadvantageous position. If he does leave (which I'd be shocked if he does), he'll do so in conjunction with Golden (meaning he wouldn't leave him up the creek with no **** paddles).

UM doesn't release contract info but the "leaked" rumor is that he makes between 550k-625k... he made 450k at fiu

Frankly, Mario needs us more than we need him, so we'll have paddles either way. If Mario's ultimate goal is to be a College coach and possible the HC of the Miami Hurricanes (cough cough), leaving one month after jumping on this gig is a red flag in my mind. If he still wasn't sure, he should have waited.

Calm the **** down ... Why isn't it possible that he got the call and discussed it with Golden? Wouldn't it be in his and the U's best interest to take that interview and then stay at the U?

If it becomes a pattern, then I think this will definitely hurt him, but he doesn't have that kind of history.

Man, that's surprising. Did we get some big new benefactor or something. We seem to be loosening the purse strings lately.

Or maybe he isn't all in with Golden. If he takes the gig, I think it would be very telling about his perception of the program under Golden.
