Barry Jackson on U team at present

I said it a million times before - I think that an Air Raid offense suits our talent far better than the RPO. RPO means the line is run blocking almost every time and they are just too physically weak to push anyone off the ball (it looked like they even struggled against non P5 teams). With pass blocking they can mask the weakness with technique. RBs will feast with the huge run lanes. Combine that with a mobile, accurate qb and fast wrs and you average 50 ppg. With our weak OL any run game has to be manufactured by the RB himself, which isn't going to cut it against the more physical teams.

I agree that right now, we'd be better served by not depending on our OL to push anyone around, but that isn't what Richt ultimately wants. I don't think it's feasible to install one offense, then recruit for and change to another offense in a few years. We're just going to have to wait it out and hope he's able to recruit guys who can do what he wants. It may not be as flashy as people like, but if we have the right OL/QB I think Richt's play calling will look just fine.

1. Rosier is likely to start against LSU.
2. Rosier will have a short leash.
3. The OLine is far from where it needs to be and a serious concern.
4. Jarren Williams is the most accurate (I'd say best) passer.
5. Starting Jarren ahead of N'Kosi may disillusion N'Kosi.
6. We need our frosh TE's here badly.

It's not always the case you have a journalist accurately diagnose the team's strengths and weaknesses. Good article.

Disillusion N'Kosi? What does that say about Weldon? Like he's already gone.

If you rank the necessary compontents for this offense it begins and ends with the mobile, accurate quarterback.

Where is there one of those with knowledge of the playbook on this roster?

Like we had to have a perfect game to beat #3 Notre Dame and top15 ranked va tech?....(mind you malik had 3 ints in that game). FSU game malik was 25% passing at half time and we gave up 2 late tds on defense.... none of those games had little margin of error and we definitely did not play a near perfect game to get any of those wins....

So, let's keep Williams at #3 so we don't have Perry transfer. Meanwhile, let's start the weak link because he knows what to do, even though he can't execute it come game time. ****, I'd be more concerned with Williams leaving if he's stuck at #3 behind those two. What kind of message does that send? "Hey, I know you're the best QB, and have done everything to win the job, but Rosier is our starter, even though he can't complete easy passes. Also, you can't get the #2 spot because the guy in front of you that you outperformed might leave if you jump him."

Problem is, some of those close games we won can just as easily turn into losses this year. UNC and GT come to mind. Every team we face from this point on will try to make Rosier beat them, and I am not confident he can get as lucky next year as he did last year.
 
I think people forget that Weldon has the fastest 40 of the QBs. He came in with a 4.5. With that said, a DT QB on an air raid team is impossible to stop. Check out Pat White's career with West Virginia. That should be the Canes as we get on with the next few years. JW is picking up steam and the OL recruiting is looking unreal. There is a bright future ahead.

Don't jump ship yet. Last yr this time if anyone would have told this board we would have been undefeated and the #2 team in the country going into our last game you would have been banned and called an idiot.

We have work to do. But that article told some positive things. Our D will be elite if certain guys step up this summer and work hard to raise their level of play (Ford and the LB corp to a greater degree and JDean to a lesser degree) and we have skill players all over the field. Just need Rosier to work on his game as well this summer. Perry and Williams being out there will get you an 8-4 season.

I'm optimistic due to our Defense that fact that we have guys that can make game changing plays at WR and RB and help is on the way at TE.

The OL has been an issue it seems for years. Just find 5 guys, keep them healthy and hope for the best. Clearly we need a grade of "A" in this next OL recruiting class.

Rosier's luck will run out, and we very well could be an 8-4 team with him starting. Lord knows we were almost that last year. Don't let the 10-0 start fool you. We didn't start 10-0 because of Rosier, but in spite of him.

Also, national title aspirations? May want to pump the brakes on that.

Richt really didn't even use the rpo last year.
