Barry Jackson Al Blades

I took some journalism classes last semester before I switched my major and Barry is a wimp to hide behind the title of journalist. One of the main pillars of the society of professional journalist is to minimize harm. They say "Show compassion for those who may be affected adversely by news coverage. Use special sensitivity when dealing with children and inexperienced sources or subjects." He needs to be better. Let Al announce on his own terms. It’s not worth it. And this isn’t the first time either. He did the same thing to Richards if I remember correctly.

You guys need to stop thinking that media guys have a code. Thats their job... to break stories. And to be the first one to break it. There is no honor among thieves in the media business. Get over it.

Now I agree that Barry shouldnt be going back and forth with Al Jr on social media. Be the grown up.

And Al Jr better get use to the life because when he gets to the NFL folks like Adam Schefter will be all in his business as well. Its all apart of the game.

I think the latter is what more people are upset with. Everyone here gets he has a job to do. Now I do think Miami media does NO favors as opposed to a reporter in say Bama or Clemson. Just as barry has a right to break stories, blades has a right to be upset at anything written about him.

The bigger issue is the as$hole way he handled it after Blades chirped him. Barry is a grown *** man, obviously Blades was upset. If Barry felt compelled to respond (argument could be made he should not have responded at all), he should have said "I received authorization to release the story from the UM Sports Director, I apologize if this was not relayed to you and I will look into it to see where the communication apparently broke down"

That could be an entirely empty gesture but it puts it to bed. Barry should have more PR sense than what he did. Of course we as fans are going to have a player's back when they are upset. What he expect to happen?

I'm not claiming Barry was the one committing the violation, I only said someone did. Barry is guilty of being low lying pond scum, violating Blade's trust. There used to be something called "off the record" which Blades had requested until he processed it. I guess journalistic integrity died along with Walter Cronkite.

That's the main point of emphasis - it was totally unnecessary for him to release this info. Releasing the info was nothing more than a headline grab. I get it. He's got a job to do and many would argue he's not very good at it. Then to get into a social media squabble with the player in question was totally unprofessional.

I'm absolutely no fan of how the media covers this team but this is a joke. Al is obviously emotional and rightfully so but the adults bent out of shape about the dissemination of info on this front are just caping.

Yeah. It seems to me, that the MAJORITY of peeps in this forum DON'T have anything else better to do, but CAPE and what not. huh?

Chit, the infamous Watergate Affaire may have not come out of the dungeon, if it weren't for the fine outstanding Washington Post. YES!!!

Yeah, yeah, yeah. U'all HATE both the WPost and the NY Times because their socialist news papers and all that. SO WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!

Barry shows up to every presser, Phins, Heat, Canes, etc. and asks whoever is there (radio guys mainly) or TV guys what they're hearing and then goes and prints himself. Then just a few weeks ago he said Ira stole a story from him lol. Ira has about 3000000 more sources inside the Heat than @Spotlight

Is this the critical thinking they're teaching these days? The inability to differentiate between a massive government cover up (such as Watergate or the Pentagon Papers) from disclosure of an individual's protected personal information? :youre-nuts:

Comparing journalism during watergate to the last ten years is like comparing a ribeye steak to diarrhea. There’s been studies done to show how inaccurate and just wrong main stream media is now. It’s actually something both sides agree on.

Journalism is now opinionism, a bunch of scum bags that doesn’t speak on facts but more hot takes, hot takes that’ll eventually get you a high paying show on a big network.

Sports media followed the trend, Skip Baseless started it with sports. Reporting factual news is dead. It’s more reality tv.

At one point ethics mattered.

I speak to journalists on regular in politics. I tell
Them they are printing wrong info and they don’t care because it gets
Hits. It’s gossip

thats my take on it. looks like the SID ****ed up and barry took the hit. Barrys mistake was continuing the back and forth with the **** player lol. let it go and bring it up privately with the SID for the miscommunication
