Avery Huff Commits!!

I like the balance of this LB class.

Two athletic, rangy OLBs in Huff and Brooks that will have NFL traits with some strength and conditioning. A big, explosive middle linebacker in Pierre. And (likely) two smart, fast backers in Solomon and Brown who can play in space.

Huff is an elite pickup.

D$, who would you say are the Elite CBs in this years class that the staff is after?

You think Pierre sticks? Most seem to think he is a flip candidate to UF at this point.

Nice. I love this pick up. He is a great fit for where we are trying to go defensively.

However, Mr. Samuel Brooks is definitely my favorite linebacker in this class. Nevertheless, they both are going to kill it at The U.
I hope MNW uses him at LB this year to prepare him for college instead of having him just rush the passer as a glorified DE.

There will be a learning curve for him, but playing the position this year would really help his development IMO.

We have not seen a single guy who was strictly a pass rush specialist in HS playing WDE to develop into a quality LB here.

Really hope that Patrick Joyner and Sam Brooks can do what MRob, McCord, Mike Smith, McCray etc.. couldn't do.

I think we get brown and call it a day. Not saying I wouldn't want Davis but last spot is gonna go quick. I expect brown commit real soon.
If that happens, then you still recruit Rian Davis who will outgrow LB in a year or so and be a full time WDE.

On the CB front, I don't see the need for signing anymore than 2. We'd basically be replacing Mike Jackson and Dean.
B/c we wanted to bring in like 4-5 last cycle and only got 3.

We still need depth.

So just replacing Jackson and Dean isn't good enough IMO.

But as Liberty City El pointed out, 2020 CB class is loaded (same with WR in 2020), so taking an extra CB this year just to take a CB if he isn't Cane caliber wouldn't be a good idea, but we need to load up with at least 4 CBs in 2020 if that is the case and we only take 2 this cycle.

I feel the same way about taking an extra WR this cycle.

IMO we should only take a second WR this year if his name is Ladson or Hazelwood (not happening).

Dunmore is not good enough IMO and won't see the field here over the guys we already have and Payton.

He is great without pads in a camp setting, but isn't fast enough for his incredibly slender build.

No need to take another WR just to take 2 this cycle when our roster is loaded with young talent and the 2020 WR class is loaded.

The big difference is that the current roster at WR is loaded, and CB is pretty bare.

So we definitely need to get our numbers right (with quality CBs) at CB, but I never agree with bringing in a kid who will never play here just to have our numbers right at a position.

So Rumph needs to step the **** up already.

Dunmore may surprise you. We have plenty of speedsters and by all accounts he has a knack for getting open bc of route running. Some guys just know how to get open it is not all about speed. Plus he has the Miami attitude and looks like he really wants to be here.

Welcome to The U!

The pure violence of having Huff & Brooks in one LB corp is just plain scary for opposing ACC Offenses.

Our future Defense will be loaded with Freaks of nature like Rousseau, Frierson, Carter, Hall, Ivey, Bogle, Nesta, Ford, Brooks & Huff is downright Biblical lol

Also quick reminder, remember when people were bhitchin about Diaz only taking 1 LB in the 2018 class?... Yeah, well here's why.

Huff and Brooks are like heat seeking missiles on defense. I love guys like that. Pinkney is similar...but those two guys are hate to say it are like that Telvin Smith kid who i hated playing against at FSU. Guys that whomever has the ball they do whatever to track down. All thats left is for that guy in the middle (Rian Davis) or to hold on to Pierre.

Problem with Dunmore is that many people in the know are saying hes just a workout/camp warrior right now and hasn't proven it on the field or game film.

That said, we couldn't have asked for a better LB group. Huff knew he was the missing piece. Why wait?

And to the poster that said Pierre was going to flip to UF, I think he shut that down a few weeks ago and solidified his commitment to Diaz IIRC. That's why UF took Hoppers commitment.

Great way to go into the Summer. Lets hope Paradise Camp in a month can yield some more great results.

Dunmore has better hands than any kid we have brought in awhile not named Hightower. It makes no sense to call Dunmore slight and praise Ladson when he weighs the same at 2 inches taller. He's more slight than Dunmore. Dunmore is the best wr in Broward..if he wants in you take him and close up shop. Bringing in kids likes him fuels competition as he's not a guy that will come in to sit. We took Harley and he has been a major effect on Lauderdale kids we have recruited..Dunmore is the same thing. A class of Payton and Dunmore is A1. We may shirt Wiggins..and have restocked the wr cupboard if we draw that group.

I know its not all about speed, but for someone with his slender build to be so slow is ridiculous.

His film doesn't pop, and I personally like my possession receivers (what Dunmore would be here) to have a little more size if they aren't going to be fast.

Who would Dunmore play over here?

Pope - Nope
Hightower - Nope
Thomas - Nope
Ezzard - Nope
Payton - Nope
Harley - Maybe but doubt it
Wiggins - Maybe but doubt it
NJoku - Maybe

2020 WR commits
Burton - Nope
Britt - Nope

Dunmore has claimed F$U as his "dream school" and was mainly embarrassed that all his friends had Cane offers and he didn't.

That is why he has wanted an offer so bad, just to say he has it.

Dunmore wants no part of our loaded depth chart at WR and I expect him in F$U's class.

Davis is more of an OLB/WDE (who will outgrow LB in a year or two).

We just need to hold onto Pierre as he is the best pure MLB in the state.

Don't get me wrong, I want Rian Davis in this class, but he projects better to Sam or WDE than MLB IMO.

Tavares Gooden was a good lb here. I wish MNW uses him more in space though foreal.

Yes but Ladson has elite speed at that height with a slender build.

Ladson will be able to keep his speed while adding weight.

Dunmore is already too slow for his build and as he adds weight might get slower.

Sorry, but Dunmore is not elite, Ladson and Payton are.

Watch the film, its not all about speed, Payton and Ladson look elite in their film, Dunmore not so much.

And I would much rather take an extra quality DL, OT, DB or LB than a WR who will most likely never see the field here b/c we are stacked and 2020 WR class will be epic.

He was solid, but the light never really turned on till his last season.

I would say that he was the only HS rush end to develop into a solid starting LB here (that I can remember), but nothing close to the great LBs we have had here.

The next closest would be Mike Smith who is a serviceable back up, and playing better at OLB than MLB (moved to OLB with Jennings taking over 2nd team MLB).

Hate to tell you...but Dunmore ran faster than Payton this year. I personally think he is a UM caliber wr easily. I dont know all about the not seeing the field stuff with him when he has outplayed alot of proven college guys since he was a sophmore. His film is legit as well not sure which one you watched. We need 2 wr's in this class...they obviously offered him so Dugans knows what time it is.

I don’t really like the local CBs this year. Small and not athletic enough to make up for it. Sanguinetti can play both DB positions. I think he’s a CB. He is the one guy with length and athleticism.

The other guys they are targeting are outside of South Florida like Blades, Porter and Dixon. Stevenson likely a safety or big nickel.

Yes we offered him super late mainly b/c he is friends with a lot of our top targets like Bogle and Smith, and they have been hounding our coaches to offer their boy for months.

Him being faster than Payton who is about 20 lbs heavier than him means nothing.

Payton is a monster and truly elite.

How can you watch tape from all 3 and say that Dunmore is right there with Ladson and Payton?

Dunmore is really good, but definitely not elite.

If he was elite like you claim, then it wouldn't have taken our coaches so long to offer him.

If our situation at WR was different, he would definitely be a take, but I don't see who he will play over here for the next 3 years.

We are stacked with guys better than him IMO.

Richards said in a interview the other day that if he comes here he would probably play corner. What you think about him at cb?
