Attn. All Miami Alum.

As a proud Miami grad (MDCC) I don't give a f*ck about the U's academics

This man gets it

The only thing someone with a "degree" from MDCC is coffee for someone with a degree from the U.
A bunch of dumb mudda f*ckers responding to my sarcastic post. News for you asshle, the U ain't in the top half academically in the conference. Now go get yoyr coffee you f*cking prick

True story. I barely have a high school education. I have a uf grad and um grad that work for me.

Alumnus here, and I think the Shalala hate has always been overblown.

Higher academic standards haven't been why we've struggled. Maybe we can't get a guy or two in (particularly JUCOs), but we're still able to pull plenty of talent. Hiring good coaches isn't easy. If it were, powerhouse programs would never have downturns. Schools with ADs that people on this board envy--USC, Florida, and Louisville--have bungled hires; Mike Garrett hired Lane Kiffin, Jeremy Foley hired Will Muschamp (who stinks), and Tom Jurich hired Steve Kragthorpe. How long did it take Bama to get it right? Dubose. Franchione. Price. Shula. Then they finally backed up the brinks truck for Saban, who, luckily for Bama, was dying to get back to the $EC after failing with the Dolphins.

After we fire Golden (and we will), we just need to find the right guy. The rest will take care of itself.

This is true, I'm sure that if we hired a coach who won a lot, we'd all immediately stop caring about Shalala..but until we do its easy to blame her

Those pesky facts getting in the way of a Farc Archer rant, again ...

Outside the 305, the University of Miami is really not widely known across the nation. Yes, it's a good school, but no, not anything like other schools. When folks decide to study a particular discipline across the other 49 states, and half the state of Florida, Miami is, well, just not at the top of everyone's list.

This is so stupid that I didn't bother reading anything else. 54% of UM's student body is from outside of Florida.

Archer loves his long rants, but they are always full of nonsense and BS. The man spews crap and expects people to accept it as fact.

The rest of us don't give a fvck about the U's academics.

We only care about the football team. If you want to tout academics go to canesnerds.com

That is all.

The 'Canes are a college team. Don't like it, find an NFL team to root for, or whatever JC you went to.

that's dumb.

if so, then why is the school motto changed to "it's all about the U"

\side bar. i was a group of 20 randomly chosen undergrads in 2009 that voted for this slogan.

The U isn't a term created by academics; it was made by our football team.

take a look around the medical campus. there are posters of doctors, patients, staff all flashing the U.

Not a miami alumn (obviously). An education and degree value is ONLY determined by the individual and how that person applies both. Even a Harvard degree is worthless if you don't take advantage of what the school and eventually degree offers.

For example this is from a Harvard grad.
Matt Yglesias ‏@mattyglesias Feb 19 I think deficits sometimes matter, but past accumulated debt basically never does.
His harvard education and degree is worthless.

Lmcane claims to have like 10 ivy league degrees. He is barely literate.

Granted I went for grad school, but it seems to me that the type of kid that goes to UM has drastically changed the last 10 years. These ****ing kids think Shalala is some sort of rock star. When I was in college you wouldn't be caught dead supporting the admin for WHATEVER reason, let alone one that hand cuffs the athletic department. Undergrad is the same where ever you go, you go to ranked grad schools for networking, not because they teach some magical formula for success. I hate Shalala and what she turned the U into.

How does overseeing by 10x the largest capital expansion of football facilities qualify as "handcuffing" the AD? She got the BUC built, the new A-Rod park, Cobb, Schwartz Center, Greentree, and more. If you want to cover your ears and ignore all of it, fine, but you want a top coach? No one real is coming here, ever, without those improvements in place. Whether you think AG is the right coach now or not is your right, but if you don't think he did an exceptional job of seeing us through a period where the press and opposing recruiters were telling the world we were going to get the death penalty then I don't know what else to say. Lost cause.

If you think she has "handcuffed" the AD, I ask you to imagine where we would be right now with any of our previous presidents who didn't do **** compared to her. Tad Foote? Floated the idea of killing the program... just like basketball.

Context is everything. She was President during a time of the rise of the SEC and publicly funded state schools raising hundreds of millions of dollars... a time when facilities expansion in CFB exploded, and she did it without the support of a decent fan base who would rather **** on the internet with a fake screen name then write a check with their real name on it. Unlike places like UF where fans kick in $2k for the right to MAYBE get the chance to buy season tickets, here we fly banners to fire every coach we have, even the ones that bring us National Championships. - yeah, the internet brigade flied a "from champs to chumps" banner to try to run off Butch. The same ******** who are now saying how badly they want him to be our coach. SMH. ****, the angel she found to actually kick in $ for football, the Schwartz Family, HAVE ****ING NOTHING TO DO WITH MIAMI! She had to tap her own outside network to make that happen.

I thank her for her commitment to supporting UM athletics, especially football. Go ask the players what they think of her.

Well done, bomb. No meme needed.

All kidding aside, this thread may be the worst and scariest thread I have ever read. I am dumbfounded by the level of stupidity in this site.

Lol @ OP. I dont know if I dont care about academics AT ALL..But I will say that 99% of the players on our roster are here on a football scholarhip..not an academic scholarship..So im sure those UM alum can figure out where im going with this.

(FAMU alum..btw. The band did me proud.)

FAMU Alum myself... It was funny seeing the fans in my section look at me crazy calling all the players on UM's team then know all the Band stuff for FAMU. Played for FAMU 06-08. Love my school but when it comes to football I'm die hard Cane. Grew up with Sean T's little brother. Knew Jonathon (Joey as we called him) Vilma as a youth so the Canes are very important to me.

No, actually I just tell it like it is, and it ****es you and a few others off.

Get outside the 305, and you'll see. Ask 100 folks from other parts of the country about the "U," and they'll have zero idea of the degree programs at the "U," but if pressed to share why they are aware of the University of Miami, and how they first came to know about Miami, it will be from the football program.

If you don't like it, choke on it.

It's the truth!

You ever look around the Boston area for schools? Now THEY got some schools known strictly for their academics.

You think that may - just MAY have something to do with its geological location, near central/south American proximity? Lots of South and Central American countries do a lot of business with the US, and the center of a lot of these business connections are right in Miami. So where do you think a lot of them consider when their children want to attend a University?

Or are the non-Floridians all coming from Europe? Or the Middle East?

Back to the original premise on US-based citizens in other states - I guarantee - they all initially or currently know of UM directly or indirectly because of the football program.

And sorry you couldn't get into a real Ivy League school. You sound disappointed.

I didn't apply to any Ivy League school and am more than happy with my degree from UM. The only people around here who are disappointed with anything at UM are the cavemen whose lives have been ruined for 13 years with no football titles. The sooner we get you people with gold teefs out of our fan base, the better.

As for UM's enrollment, you continue to show how ignorant and ****ed off you really are. A major portion of UM's student body is from the Northeast. I didn't know that there were still people out there who didn't know that.

International students? Miami's international student population is 13%. By comparison, Brown University has an international student population of 12%. That probably has a lot to do with Brown's proximity to.......nothing. So another well thought out point on your part.

How about this...just admit that you have no idea what you're talking about. None of it is going to change what happens on the football field anyway, so why go through the process of embarrassing yourself over nothing?

Last point...the people YOU hang out with only think about UM and football because you and your friends aren't exactly rolling in upper echelon academic circles. UM has an outstanding reputation across the country. I'm shocked that ESPN doesn't mention that more often. LMAO.

Because none of the people like me know ANYTHING about academic programs at ANY college.

Edited for accuracy's sake.
