Everyone keeps throwing out the word "talent".... "this team is talented"

Am I missing something?

One of the worst OL in the nation last season
Subpar receiving core with more key drops than key plays
Secondary that made more mistakes than positive plays last season
replacing two 4 year starters at backer with kids who have played less than 100 snaps
horrendous special teams (until proven otherwise with the fiu kid)
As mediocre of a coaching staff on the defensive side of the ball as you will find in power 5
Manny Diaz as your head coach (first team to lose 3 times as 14 point favorite, FIU, LA Tech, Lost every game after a bye week or multiple weeks before games)

Talented players:
Rosseau
Roche
King
Jordan (can't stay healthy)
Hall
FIU Kicker?
Phillips and Bubba

So either have our best season in 15 years or it's a failure?? Anything less then 8-4 is a failure honestly. That's the over under I would put for this team. If we win 8 then Manny did his job. If we win less then Manny is likely fired. Anything 9 wins or better is big success
If we Win 8...Manny has done his job??...Lol...you cannot be serious.....4 losses with that Schedule is acceptable??.....Jesus H Christ...

Another fan who still thinks it's the 80s... Let's look at the schedule...

Michigan State who has a new coach and a very good defense. They have a mauling offensive line and great running game which we struggle with.

Florida State- They have a new offensive minded HC In Mike Norvell whose ran one of the best Offenses in college football the last couple years. They are going to have a improved Oline and blackmon is now a senior with a ton of experience. FSU also has a ton of NFL caliber WRs. There defense is expected to improve as well

North Carolina- They have a top 5 QB in all of college football in Sam Howell who can pick our secondary apart. Those players will give there absolute all to play for coach mack brown. They also have one of the top 20 play callers in the country in Phil Longo.

Virginia Tech-Is returning 10 starters on a defense that gave us fits last year. They are also getting back Hayden Hooker with another year of development and running back Desawn Mcklease. Very tough game.

Pittsburgh-Returning 17 starters from last year on a team that came very close to beating us. Kenny Pickett will be a senior that year.

Virginia- is returning there entire starting Offensive line and will look to have a very strong run game next season which we struggle with. They also return several starters on there DLine which was Among the best in the ACC last year. Bronco mendenhall is also one of the best coaches in the ACC.

Wake Forest-- loses Jamie Newman but Sam Hartman is a very solid replacement who gets WR Sage Surgatt returning whose among the best WRs in college footbal. On defense they have DE Carlos Basham whose a projected 1st or 2nd round pick next year whose coming off a 57 Tackle 18TFL 10 Sack season and is only going to get better...

Now for us- We lost our entire starting LB unit and our best playmaker in Deejay Dallas on top of that Garvin,Ford,Hill,Patchan,Bandy, Osborn,Thomas and Romeo Finley who was a huge part of our defense. We have huge questions in our LB unit and Secondary. Our O-Line and WR core are both major question marks. We are expecting King to be some kind of football savior but he couldn't even win much at Houston against inferior talent, so he's a big question mark as well and will need a solid surrounding cast. The only thing for certain is we will have great TE play and one of the top pass rushes in college football. We got to stop thinking were some powerhouse football team and can't lose to teams like north Carolina, Virginia and etc just because they are not huge names. We have been on par with these teams the last 15 years.

People can have expectations but have to realize when they're outlandish. I wouldn't attempt to predict a thing with this team. Unfortunately the opening game the last two years have killed the predictability...

I got Temple beating Miami
I don't, but they have chip on their shoulder. First, Manny decides to leave them at the altar, so they want to prove he made the wrong decision. Granted, they got to keep the $4 million dowry out of it, but still. Then their star defensive end transfers here.

We had better plan on them playing well above their ability.

We're not going 9-3. 7-6 at best. Diaz is still HC. We will remain a .500 team until we stumble over a decent coach. That won’t happen until Blake James is fired. That clown couldn’t hire a decent coach if Knute Rockne arose from the dead and offered us his services for peanuts.

I disagree with some of your argument points but agree with your overall assessment. Large sections of our fanbase live in this fantasy world. As tho the last 16 years, let alone last two haven’t happened...now we should just roll out of bed and go 12-0..last 10 win season a couple years ago we could’ve easily lost 3 of those games..we are not at the level to just dominate UNC...anything less then 9 wins is terrible tho

Disagree.. 8-4 seems about right with how many questions we have on this team. Michigan State,FSU, North Carolina,VT,Wake Forest and Virginia all have very solid teams this year

Using last year as an example, i don't have any doubt we'll get up for the big games. It's the gimme games that have me wondering...

Blake James and Manny Diaz should be fired if they lose more than 2 regular season games...really, no more than one but I’ll let it slide given both are major question marks in leadership. Will be more about the players and Lashlee.

yes, best season in 15 years is the floor. We have a TOP 5 OC in the country for the first time in 15 years and we have a TOP 5 QB in the country for the first time in forever... anything less than 10 is total failure... the schedule also is in our favor

I see as a transcendental situation us getting King and Lashlee... along witt OL/WR coaches... It is now or never with 1 year King.

Fair enough. I don’t think we have a overwhelming advantage in talent compared to the teams u listed either

Lol we don't know that at all... Lashlee has had one year of big success. He's still very young as a OC and hasn't been a play caller for long. We have no idea if king is a Top 5 QB. He had one big year at Houston and he's 2-7 as a starter in his last 9 starts and that's in a G5 conference.

Lmao your crazy....our fan base is absolutely insane.... We do this **** every off season. Oh we shouldn't lose more then one or two games at the most... We say **** like this every off-season and then we end up going 7-5 or 8-4... You do realize this 9-3 season that you think is a fire able Offense would be the 2nd best season for us in the last 15 years?

Another fan living in the 80s??...Wtf does that have to do with anything??...Are you seriously comparing the 80s schedules (When we played ND...FSU...UF and Penn St every yr??...and OU and Neb in Bowl games??..) to the Laughable schedules we've had for umpteen yrs???....Just stop it....We have Absolutely NO business Not winning 10 games this yr...especially with Lashlee and King....No more F-ing Excuses...
Every F-ing yr we come up with excuses...instead of evaluating...recruiting and Coaching correctly...

Why do you call them laughable schedule's? We have these same type of schedules every year and only win 6-8 games year in and out. My point about the 80s, is your still thinking were some major powerhouse college football team. We're not... Or anything close. We have been a middle of the pack ACC team for the last 15 year's.
