Are we too confident or entitled about the FSU game?

The Florida State game always comes down to which team can run the ball better. FSU is not very good in the aspect of the offense. For example, before today's game Louisville was giving up an average of 192 yards per game, and 4.4 per carry. Today, FSU rushed for 76 yards on 2.5 per carry. Before today's game, FSU ranked 120 in the nation rushing for an average of 103 yards per game and 2.83 per carry. In contrast, before our last game, we rank 37th in rushing at 209.5 yards per game and 4.84 yards per carry. So I think we have a better shot running on them than they do running on us. So Perry doesn't have to play lights out for us to win.

I also don't put any concern on the UNC quarterback ran all over us schtick. First, FSU won't risk Francois after losing him last year by doing that. Second, basing your offense entirely on trick QB plays like UNC did is high school stuff that leads to losing records and coaches getting fired. It is not a winning recipe. Third, even during the greatest defenses we ever had, that was the common beef even when we were winning by 25-30 points each game. A QB runs because nothing else is working. If that is your biggest beef as a fan then you got issues.

Watching FSU today, they look like a very average team. Louisville gave the game away when, inexplicably, the QB misread the play call from the sideline and threw the ball in FSU red zone with 1:24 to play when FSU had only 2 timeouts and if Louisville ran it three times, kicked a field goal to go up by 6, FSU would have got the ball back with like 30 seconds left at its own 25. But the QB stared down the out route, and the QB threw it right to the FSU player for the pick. Stupid. Then when Louisville got the ball back, the QB was so inaccurate on 4 straight throws that it made one wonder whose team he was on.

I am extremely confident for this game because of all of the above and mostly because Hard Rock is a real home field advantage for us nowadays. I don't think FSU will be ready for the new atmosphere. Plus Willie Taggart is a terrible coach and Richt is not. So we win big.

I keep reading how we should blow them out. What validates that rationale? We haven’t proved anything. I think it will be a close game but I hope I’m wrong.
I was recently reminded here, “We” are not playing Half-A$$-Who. The team does. Therefore, respectfully, “We” can sound as confident or as scared as “We” want to.

Very few blowouts in this rivalry for either school.
However I would be disappointed if we don’t blow them out or at least a very lopsided win considering the circus that team is right now. If we’re really close to being back a team like that shouldn’t be competition regardless if it’s a rivalry or not.

This fan base is soft. Have y’all WATCHED FSU play???? This will be and needs to be an absolute beat down.

The players need to take this **** seriously and practice and prepare hard all week. That’s what they came to Miami for. As fans, we should be showing up to The Rock turnt up and ready for blood.

This is going to be fun, and ugly.

Francois was injured trying to throw behind the line of scrimmage, IIRC.

But yeah, aside from the notion that FSU will be limiting the nose piercing, I basically agree with you.

We’re gonna smoke these fools.

Yes he was. But would you devise an offensive scheme of him running the ball like UNC did and take that risk? No.

The only reason some of y’all freaking out is because of fenchie. He’s a good player but the rest of that team is ***. Bandy will handle Murray and if jj is back out secondary will be rock solid against them. Our d line will eat. Garvin Willis and joe will have a sack each at the minimum and tfls for days

Anyone taking this game lightly is in for a rude awakening this game will be a tough hard fought game

Y'all right we da fanbase, soft or otherwise - don't actually play. Some believe in jinxes and (not) offending the Football gods or trash talk, some don't... it's all in fun. We can all manage our expectations as we feel like, hopefully no one should get bent out of shape or bully what they disagree with. Coaches/players will prepare and execute regardless. What does matter, like an election where ya stay home cause u think the result is a done deal, is if folks don't show up and cheer and jeer as needed to help the team do it's best... so I just hope no one takes these "gonna be an easy ugly blowout" opinions as a reason not to come do your share.

FSU is Goldenized don't you all get it? They are stuck with Taggart like we were stuck with Golden. An inferior coach going against the nations best teams. The question is not when he will be fired but when. For us, it took too many years. For them, we will see.

F$u is bad. True. But, it’s not because they don’t have talent. They are poorly coached and some of their 4 and 5 star players have not developed.

My concern is that when your special teams are horrendous and your offensive line is inconsistent and you are starting a RS freshman in his first rivalry game, you should never be too confident. I expect a tough game but we should win.

Should be a major dog fight. My reasoning is they have Frenchie, our punting game is atrocious, and Nkosi will be starting his second game. Our fans hatred FSU blinds them to the fact that we have glaring defiencies that the rest of the country sees but they don’t. We win in a real close game.
And there is a reason you have more negative reactions than positive. You just typing to type ish.

I think we get them by 14-17 especially if we get on top early.

Yes and no.

We are a little overconfident considering the rivalry, but FSU doesn't run the ball well and their offense is lateral finesse. I think we have too much team speed and physicality on defense for them this season. I'd expect more than a 3 score difference because we're at home and should run the ball well. Plus, I can't see them scoring too much on our D.

I, for one, would be thrilled to find us late in the third quarter and up 3 scores. Somehow I think Coach R would then go conservative and/or put in the reserves team... don't think he's at all interested in running up the score versus Taggart if he can safely exit with a simple solid win.

As long as we don't have stupid penalties or Richt decides out of the blue to start Rosier, we should be fine.

Blow outs can definitely happen in this series.

We have lost 45-17 in 2010 at home, 33-10 in 2012 at home , 41-14 in 2013 at Tally.

Revenge time mother****ers.

I want to jump in and say it’s a rivalry game And they will give us their best shot ... but watching that Louisville, I’m going to be brutally honest they looked like **** and that oline looks garbage .. if Shaq and Smith is healthy and we approach this game like it’s businesss and not play down to their level we really whoop that ***.
