An evaluation the staff may have hit on..

It’s not an excuse. DB recruiting is better but it’s not at the sec and big 10 level. 10 of the top 20 CB are committed to the sec or big 10. Miami has 2 and they are #15 waters and #19 wyman. Don’t have a safety in the class yet but so far 7 of the top 20 are committed to the big 10 or sec. It’s a lot of uncommitted safeties but 5 of the top uncommitted are being projected to the sec or big ten.

look at the draft. You lying to yourself if you think the conference doesn’t matter when it’s being pushed all the time
Well, luckily, we won’t be in this conference much longer.

Both sides of the ball should fall back to the mean. Better defense, worse offense. Should be pretty close to last year.
The schedule is significantly harder. I expect the D to be better even though LB and DT makes me very nervous. Safety does as well after Poyser. The Tennessee kid is solid. Wr is a big question for me. I’d felt much better with a proven dude to go with the younger guys and CJ.

Skeptical Cribby makes me sad. I trust your assessments. I am basing some of my personal optimism on the fact I don’t think anyone in the acc is roster building any better than we have been the last few years. If we lose more than one in conference that would be a major disappointment. Who knows with the ND and UF games.

Guess portal doesn't exist and those players on this roster are in purgatory. My bad didn't know portal additions don't count as recruiting lol. Y'all ridiculous

Imagine saying CB recruiting is bad right now because we have to ignore Lucas, OConnor, Brantley, Scott, and then not give full credit for a Frosh AA, and a very good HS 25 class, and 26 class is looking like it'll be good again so far.... Like if y'all can't admit CB recruiting went very ******* well and the room is looking very nice, what is even the point of discussing recruiting with y'all? Can y'all even admit EDGE recruiting has been great to elite? Smfh

If you're talking strictly about 2025, I will agree with you. The CB position group looks like a strength now.

But it was a dumpster fire for 3 years straight under Mario, almost certainly cost us a playoff spot last season, and over that time took 3 DCs and 3 DB coaches to get right. I also expect fixing the problem had to be at least a little distracting and contributed to us not upping our talent at WR and DT during the winter portal. But that last part is pure speculation on my part.

I look at it like Mario trying to find his rhythm with what he needs to be successful in Miami with the personnel he has and also wnats to build/develop.

Round 1 strong/steele was tenured coaches with huge resumes and track records of succes both on the field and in recruiting. Our talent was subpar and we couldn't recruit fast enough to make those guys work and they didn't wa t to stick around and try to build it up.

Round 2 he went and got Guidry and dude who was known for doing more with less. Turns out you can't do that in a higher level league and also guys with a boat load of talent may not be the most cerebral players so complex schemes don't suit them well.

Round 3 he is going back to his roots. If he could get Schiano that is who would be on our sideline. He can't though so he went after what he sees is the next closest thing in Hetherman.

Well I'm talking about current day because that is out current roster.

Whoa there cowpoke.

Being "Top 15" is friendzone territory.

PSU faithful are pretty meh towards Franklin, not a small number want him gone. This past season's CFPO was really their only "success" in terms of win big(ger).

Other than that, he's fallen short over and over.
Shiiiii if 11 wins a year and being top 15 is friendzone territory (which it is) then we haven't even been able to sniff the chair she sat on.

I actually think the ACC is down this year. We should be favored against every ACC team we play... AGAIN. Maybe this year we can actually beat the teams we're supposed to beat?

So even though I'm 100% in agreement with Cribby we should have gotten more at WR, DT, even S, and our LBs should be better than they are by now, I still expect us to get to double digit wins and make the playoffs. We need bowl-game Jojo, Lofton and Fletcher (sans fumbles) to show up, and we need to stay healthy at DT. But there's a clear path to getting there.

I said I was worried about DT and LB. 🤷

LB i'm hopeful. Worst case is the the two transfers and Wiley starting by the end of the year, which imo shoud be what happens regardless. Some on this board still think Chase Smith can contribute now that is year 5 for him. Lets be hopefully the Dline can keep some of these guys clean this year to let them make plays.

DT will just depend on if they can stay healthy. If one of Moten,Scott, Bray go down its going to get ugly.

I’m not even high on Bray or Moten. Looking to see if Scott is legit and Simpson and Jones

If that is your takeaway from last season, I have nothing to offer you.
Cool man. You're a good poster but the narrative does get exhausting in the face of objective evidence don't it?

Spin away.

Plenty of things to critique that ain't one of them unfortunately.

Not gonna waste anymore time on this one. Jesus lol.
