An evaluation the staff may have hit on..

I literally said your last sentence to a friend yesterday. If all the question marks and players needing to bounce back all hit then 10-11 is possible. If not god have mercy.

The kicker alone is an enormous question mark and we lost Mr automatic. Kickers can be head cases and Auburn has been all over the place the last two years . Two extremes. Just like the season could be. Nothing with this roster would surprise me . Which is new , I usually have a pretty decent idea where a team is headed. So many uncertainties with this squad.

The OL is the one big positive for me.
So this sounds like a strong run game and defense. I hate that in modern CFB. We need a prolific offense and capable defense.

Cool man. You're a good poster but the narrative does get exhausting in the face of objective evidence don't it?

Spin away.

Plenty of things to critique that ain't one of them unfortunately.

Not gonna waste anymore time on this one. Jesus lol.
I don't know that their is a narrative that exists about running. The real fact was teams didn’t have to run because they were so successful passing. If we are being serious looking at the YPC in games vs competent opponents is not indicative of a team stopping the run. Louisville Vtech Florida GT all averaged 5+ YPC. Yes if you factor in all the train wrecks and the easy as **** schedule it skews the numbers. I don't care how great the run D is vs Ball State and fsu and USF.

We all know what great Miami defenses look like-

It better start this year-

I’m tired of getting our **** pushed in against the likes of Syracuse last year and going back to the UNC game several years ago-

The program has made great strides-

Not nearly enough on the defensive side-

Hope Simpson can continue to ascend.

Simpson needs a year as he’s on the same route as Blount coming in as a 17 year old.

Scott and Jones need to be showing some flashes this year at minimum

They need to be more than flashing. As @Dwinstitles says Blay and Moten both have ceilings. We really need these two true second year guys to bust out. It’s a lot to ask but needs to happen.

Questions on O, Beck and JoJo staying healthy. I am simply not counting on a 17 year old kid. Whatever Toney gives is a bonus for me. If Beck goes down, it's over.
D is simple, run defense. I will continue to say, I am counting on getting a UM DT. Otherwise, it's a serious problem. Toure at MLB and staying healthy. SS! So, the whole middle run D is a question. The good, I simply love the new D staff across the board. If we can hold this staff together for a few years, the future is big, bright.
Like a lot, this can go really well, but it can also fall apart really quickly. What's new?

I thought Toney was 18? I know he graduated a year early, but a lot of boys are an extra year older these days, and I remember reading that he was older than Blount. Maybe I'm misremembering. Regardless, I think he's that exception that provers the rule, will be money for us even this year. If not, the transfer Johnson and Ray Ray will be good enough for Beck to get the ball out to them.

At DT, I am praying for at least one and honestly two GTs. Even JAGs like Clark or Cook would help to some degree.

While I’m a big Heatherman fan you’re also not wrong. Not a lot to go on and add to the fact Mario has made a lot of bad hires so far, it’s difficult to say much at this point
Yes. Coordinators can be crap shoots in many cases. A number of name DCs and OCs fall on their face at new programs.

I like the Heatherman hire. A young up-an-comer with at least some P2 experience. Minnesota greatly improved in one season with Heatherman, and doesn't have the talent of OSU, PSU, or Michigan in the same conference.

Not a large sample size, correct, but better than hiring a G5 coach away from his second to third G5 job.

I actually think the ACC is down this year. We should be favored against every ACC team we play... AGAIN. Maybe this year we can actually beat the teams we're supposed to beat?

So even though I'm 100% in agreement with Cribby we should have gotten more at WR, DT, even S, and our LBs should be better than they are by now, I still expect us to get to double digit wins and make the playoffs. We need bowl-game Jojo, Lofton and Fletcher (sans fumbles) to show up, and we need to stay healthy at DT. But there's a clear path to getting there.
