I saw an interesting point made elsewhere regarding a visit by Mims…

So much chatter on the FSU boards that he may not even make it. It’s the staff’s belief right now he will make the trip. Will it be a genuine, open minded OV where he gives Mario a shot to recruit him? Or will it be a token visit to show he did his due diligence in seeing other options now that the word is he signed some NIL agreement with the Noles? If the staff perceives it’s the second case will they entertain the visit? So much was out out in public already on FSU’s end it makes u wonder. I guess we’ll see when he actually arrives and how long he stays. It IS Easter weekend.

Any consideration it's all a ploy to get Mario to cancel the visit? Don't think that's how he rolls, personally. Guy can sell and will go big if he wants a guy. Went head to head with Saban for Skinner with like 2 weeks and won. Doubt he's afraid of Prison Mike.

If you sell Coral Gables and the small country-club type of campus, you don't HAVE to venture into the city and still sell the perks of a city. You live on campus, go to class on campus, practice on campus, and are driven to the games on a bus with a police escort.

I went from a small town in NC to Miami and did just fine. I'm not a South Beach kind of guy but went about in Brickell, the Grove, etc. It's really being overplayed, IMO. People adjust. And as others have said, if this dude wants to be in the NFL, he and mom will have to adjust as all but GB are major metro cities.

Exactly. This wouldn't be our first rodeo on this front either. ****, I remember when Shockey first showed up. Dude was as Oklahoma hilljack as they come. Jort wearing and worried about where to fish. That made what he ended up becoming pop-culturally when he was in NY even more crazy but we've had plenty of country and swamp dudes do jussssst fine in Coral Gables.

I hope I’m wrong but I believe he stays in FSU. He dressed in a tshirt for what should be a job interview...you could easily just take that as this is a done deal and I’m showing up just to hang out and have fun.

I would doubt that the kid signed something binding that you couldn’t get out of ….if that was the case then that’s a dirty trick by FSU

Trying to trap a kid via something like that wouldn't be worth the risk too as the school would probably become instantly toxic to transfers.

He wasn’t behind though. He was a true freshman and in the 2 deep at RT when they played Michigan in the playoff. He didn’t play in that game but played in 8 games on loaded team as a true frosh. UGA returns their RT this year and Sayler who was the LT is getting drafted. By all accounts Mims was get some first team reps at LT with the other guy being 5 star and 2020 top 10 Broderick Jones. Now it appeared Jones was favored to start but I would not say he was behind. You could knock him for not sticking it out and expecting instant gratification but not being behind.

OK that changes things a little bit. So he left GA for other reasons and it appears he would be ok with RT. Does FSU have anyone of consequence at LT? That may push him to RT?

A job interview? Far from it. The recruit is the one in the position of power, the staff is the one trying to convince him to come to their school. That analogy doesn't work at all.

100%. It depends on the player/personality. It doesn't get much more remote than Allen Bailey. But he still picked Miami.
