Alabama's dominance in context: Death of CFB

In a way I agree with what you're saying. But it is a shame that there has to be new rules to stop Alabama domination.
No there doesn’t. The rules in place would stop their run in its tracks - they just aren’t enforced.

The Bama slurpers always seem to amaze me.

Saban had mediocre record at Mich St.

He was a good coach in the SEC before Emmett became president. He won 1 title and had a lot of above average seasons (but also a lot of mediocre seasons on his resume).

He went to the pros and did nothing.

Then he takes over Bama and goes 6-6 (losing to La Monroe). Then bags start to take effect in recruiting and the rest is history. Don’t act like this dude is some legendary coach. He’s a really good coach, nothing more.

The greatest? Lol ok

Well it certainly feels like it's dying. I would be a little more ok with Bama if they were an actual fun team to watch. They are boring. We need the USC's, The UT's, to get good again and of course us.

Man, it is what it is, and for you guys to come on these sites and cry like babies because #1 we run off every ******* coach and staff we have had, so there's zero chance to establish consistency and #2 you're jealous of what we don't have, which is a direct result of #1

With Golden we never had a chance, But all of this started with Coker and Shalala. The icing on the cake is our fan base. Maybe, just maybe, we'll give Diaz a chance. By year two we should see results, we absolutely will not in year one

Strawman much? Where does it say in my post about not giving Diaz a chance? Heck, it was written in 2016! Miami's administrators should be leading an ACC-wide insurrection against Swofford and inspiring school leaders in other old man led-conferences to do so also...Heck, in today's political climate, Frenk would be pretty useful leading the charge against that old guard in Greensboro.

JJ used to say if you don't like me running up the score do something about it.we were there once in 2000 but administration badgered with butch so he left.any other college would've rewarded him with great perks to keep him.those can based would've worshipped him like a god.Not ours we'd criticized his every move fly banners against him. There's an old saying he careful what you wish for you just might get it.for 18 yrs the Miami administration and fan base has gotten just that.

Since Emmert has been President of the NCAA (November 2010), the following teams have been FBS football champions: O$Uck, F$U, Auburn, AlabamaX3...If 'Bama wins again this year and you include their Pre-Emmert 2009 win, 'Bama will have FIVE championships in the past EIGHT years. In comparison, Miami dynasty stretch was FOUR titles in NINE years. The NCAA was sniffing around Miami like crazy at that time and the Pell Grant scheme was finally uncovered with the help of snitches like Alum and current E$ECPN tool Dan LeRetard. Alabama? Not a peep out of the NCAA...'Bama, as per plan, reports their dinky secondary violations and the NCAA points to them as proof of "equal enforcement." George Orwell's Animal Farm could be easily re-written with the "more equal" pig being replaced by a "More Equal" Elephant and be called The NCAA's Animal Farm.

The NFL's precipitous decline, brought on by the leadership clown who is Roger Goodell, is a harbinger of Emmert's killing of the golden goose of college football, it's just a matter of time unless a true competitive balance scheme (Athletic Department budget caps, coaching staff size limitations, mandatory booster financial transaction monitoring, mandatory player "employment" reporting, etc.) is put in place by a visionary leader, not a toadie for the big state schools.

Would not shock me at all that Emmett is on the take from Bama. If you were a bag man the first person you pay off is the head of the NCAA. He is basically a politician and that does not say much. They all are on the take.

It isn't as much about Emmett looking the other way as much as the program and university are a 100% behind the program. That was something we didnt have, all the leaks at Bama are minor and everything is air tight, that hasn't been the case with Miami, ever.
There are more **** and Holes fans in Miami than Canes’ fans, and then you have a bunch of outsiders covering the program (SMD and Navarro). On top of this, one of our own, in his ambition, ratted us out. LeBast@rd should never be allowed on the Miami campus again.

The NCAA didn’t investigate us as much as Shapiro gave them a case. Alabama’s boosters aren’t Busch league.

He’s not even the best coach of his day. That would be Bill ******* Belichick. He’s not better than Jimmy Johnson either. Jimmy won at every level and Saban couldn’t hack it in the pro’s!

Preach. He maybe the greatest CFB coach, but ****, if we’re talking sports, we got Phil Jackson rocking 11 rings, Wooden rocking 10, Joe McCarthy and Casey Stengel rocking 7 pendants, Scotty Bowman rocking 9 Stanley Cups....I mean that was a brash, brash statement

I think Alabama has top 3 programs in history. Nick saban is top 3 coach in history. Tell me I'm wrong
Bama was a dominant team in the '60's. We'd play them and they'd pummel us. Schnelly was their OC during part of that time. He brought in Namath.

Solid job OP. I said it before, I’ll say it again. College football has gone to the ****ter. Game used to be awesome, now it blows. Commercials, reviews, fluffy duster rules, the friggin’ SEC. The NFL blows and I live 12 miles from a 20 year dynasty. College Football used to be awesome. Now, good lord.

I know and understand. I'm just saying you know you are a dominant team when they want to change the rules of college football to try to "even the playing field. That would probably be a good thing. I mean a school like Miami has the money to spend but they choose not to. Why can they not spend the money and make the commitment to do anything and everything just like Bama does. But Miami does not. Is that Alabama's fault?
Very very different kind of alumni and fan bases. Their redneck fans and alumni love football, ours don't.

the only thing people will remember from alabama's dynasty is how great Saban was. just like bammer's previous dynasty when you o remember Bear Bryant. that's what they will be known for.

the casual fan can't name any of their QBs. the only player who is truly recognizable is Juiio Jones. One. player.

just a machine with no personality.

CFB will get more interesting once Saban hangs em up.

I remember some players from previous Bama dynasties: Namath, Stabler, Tony Nathan, Billy Neighbors, Lee Roy Jordan, Dave Hannah, and I didn't follow them. I hated them.

"Player Development" staff and the "non coaching analysts" is an area the NCAA should consider legislating. This is where the competitive balance shifts. Before they came on staff Bamer had Kiffin, Tosh lupoi as "football analysts." These guys can help recruit through social media i believe, but can't go on the road recruiting or on field coach. However in meeting rooms and film study the are invaluable to the staff and players. Right now Bama has 9 "FB Analysts," 2 of which are Mike Locksley and Steve Sarkinsian. Same with "Player Development" staff. This needs to be looked at. I'm willing to be that Bama pays there "football Analysts" as much as we pay our 10 on field coaches.

I think Indiana's coach went on a rant about this subject last year or the year before.

Alabama, Clemson roll into title game with $3 million football support staffs - CBSSports.com
There was a NYT article on the analysts. Actually they are paid very little. It is a halfway house for damaged coaches, guys whose career has hit a bump. They use the position to rehab and resuscitate their careers. Many have received buyouts anyway so they can live on $30 K a year which the amount cited in the article.

Saban would not be Saban without his bagmen. I will admit he is an incredible leader though. He is willing to adapt and he fills his coaching staff with people who are smarter than him. Both are signs of a good leader.

Football as a whole is becoming very boring. The college game is totally dominated by one team , and the same is true of the NFL. Really, does anyone doubt who will be holding up the hardware at the end off practically every damned season? Two persimmon-faced Croats with the personalities of a pair of pit vipers. And people thought the Yankees’ dynasty was mind-numbing. Give me a break. It’s disgusting in a time when most of what goes on in this country is disgusting.
Who's the second Croat?
