I doubt the rugby guy would even be able to do the set up.
“Bain is hurting himself. What a dumbass”This post on X by Rugby Guy just confirms that he’s a legit ******, and doesn’t know the first thing about training or football.
Context and social media don’t mixThe problem is context. we have no idea what the practise was like for Bain. Maybe it was an easy fundamentals day.. more mental than physical and he decided to apply it with heavier reps? Bad mouthing work ethic is for fools.
Players have gotten extra work after practice since the beginning of time..Overworking is a real thing but idk how it fits here, and he can still hit recovery. I don’t think the bucs practice every dayI mean honestly it's not training much of anything for an elite player like Bain, so over working when you should be in recovery after practiSe.
He sure does seem to have a hard on for Miami. Well, that and dudes.I'm a CSCS, and I am far from a know-it-all, but Rugby Strength Coach is a pompous ******* who is full of ****. Dude has tweets criticizing positional coaches- great ones, too (I think Jason Taylor is in one) because he thinks he knows the best and only approach. Dude is an idiot. He just hasn't gotten called out enough.
He has a few with UM coaches. One in particular was our players scooping a dummy, driving through, and tackling it on the mat. He went off on that one, like the dumbass he is.

Hope Kenneth is well.
… and you know this how, from a three second clip?I mean honestly it's not training much of anything ….
I had some conversations with "these people" aka skill acquisition coaches. They reject the idea of muscle memory and current training principles and they stoically believe that skill acquisition solely happens if we up the training difficulty. And they go about that in the most douchey, clout-chasing way possible - which is the training bubble in a nutshell. Obviously, they believe that no one wants to work with them because everyone is wrong and they "just don't get it".I'm a CSCS, and I am far from a know-it-all, but Rugby Strength Coach is a pompous ******* who is full of ****. Do they have a point? Somewhat. It's 1. never wrong to challenge the establishment and try to improve but 2. obviously they're right in certain degrees. You can't progress in training if you don't push the boundary.
Here's the fundamental problem: It's not a debunking of muscle memory. It's not even a debunking of current ways of training. They believe that without addressing key aspects of biology. So if someone purely does technique work just to further translate movement into a habit, or to ensure that the right technique is applied consistently under a fatigued setting, that's also muscle memory.
Being a douche on the internet only takes you so far...
I've been on here.Have you seen the internet mein freund?
