A little intel from an ACC President

The only thing we agree on is we love Canes football, good night!
Even 150k is double what the average professor should make for 7 months work. I have told you over and over, the professors I know inh Boca Raton do not work in the summer, they have loads of time off. Stop making like they all work 40 hours per week like in the private sector. Most Surgeons in the private sector don't work 60 hours per week unless they are on call for a weekend. Most don't work weekends unless they are on call. You dumb *** I have been around this field for over 25 years. 80 hours, lol those cases are very rare. I'm sure they have many surgeons on staff in hospitals for weekends but the will have days off during the week.

fast, you keep repeating the same crap but you're skipping over the obvious:

YOU'RE BLAMING THE WRONG PEOPLE.

Look, I agree college costs are too high. I agree the student loan bubble is ******** kids.

But high teacher pay is not the reason for this. Professors aren't to blame--they're not getting paid gaudy salaries for their work. In fact, in most instances, it could be argued that they are UNDERpaid.

You keep showing the data of the top-paid professors--and I've repeatedly tried to show you that they are NOT overpaid...these are people who are the tops in their field in medicine, who are working 60-80 hrs a week as surgeons and teachers and heads of their medical units.

Those salaries are not indicative of the average. I don't know why you keep acting like they are.

You're so full of ****.

Good night, dumbass.

''It would be one thing if students and their parents had to scrimp and save and borrow and compromise to pay the necessary costs of college. But the plain fact is that they are doing so in order to let faculty members teach five classes a year, spending only 18-20 hours in the classroom per week!''

''College costs are as high as they are because the institutions coddle their faculty letting them off with work weeks that we would find laughable while they increase their administrative costs and debt out of all proportion to reality.''

''If colleges required their faculty to work harder (approximating the work week the rest of us find normal), held down administrative spending, and reined in borrowing for capital improvements, that these institutions could charge half of what they now do in tuition and fees. That’s right…half!''

http://thechoice.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/09/16/morris/

Stop with that over worked garbage.....

Fast:

Can you read? Seriously?

I've looked at the data on the link you posted several times now. I understand that there are several professors making better than 500k.

Do they not deserve to make 500K?

What would you say is the appropriate pay for this guy, Kakarla Chalam, who is the chair of the department of Opthalmology and the director of residencies in opthalmology at Shands Hospital at UF. On top of his MD, he's also got an MBA. He's published 116 scholarly articles, many in top academic journals in the field. He's a world-renowned scholar, researcher, doctor, and professor.

How much should a guy like that make?

Look at the list of salaries you posted--now look up what each of those people does. They're all basically working for med schools at UF or USF.

**** Morris is an idiot who clearly does not know what professors do, just like you clearly do not know.

"Spending only 18-20 hours in the classroom." He clearly does no account for the time prepping for classes, grading assignments, talking to students outside of class, researching new teaching methods to reach students, etc...which easily accounts for another 18-20 hours outside of the classroom.

Nor does he account for the professor's own research and writing, which accounts for another 10-12 hours per week at a minimum.

Nor does he account for the professor's time spent on advisory and search committees, and in university and departmental meetings, which accounts for another 10-12 hours a week.

And again, keep in mind that this imagined high pay only exists for tenure-track professors, who account for ONLY 24% OF COLLEGE INSTRUCTORS, as I've repeatedly said and you've repeatedly ignored.

You've contributed nothing to this thread but poorly-though-out opinions and a poorly thought-out opinion piece by **** Morris. Again, you have no clue what you're talking about.

I'm still waiting for you to tell me how many professors have these mega-bucks pension programs, and have all of this sick time worth hundreds of thousands of dollars.

I thought this thread was pretty ****ed the last 2 1/2 pages, but now that I think about it, you ******** are getting precisely what you deserve for banishing the FLML board and the WEZ.

Be careful what you ask for if you don't have a clue in **** what you are talking about. Florida's is exactly the same, lost my site when my comp crashed last year, I'll find it though. You think these scumbags making 200k plus are not going to get a 100k per year pension for life? Criminals!

Every single state has BS corrupt **** just like this. These pensions are worth millions. It's not only the pensions, drop scams, sick time scams that are killing the tax payers and kids who want to go to college. It's also the top of the line HC that they get at a huge discount.

None of those has anything to do with professors at all, let alone professors in FLA.

Be careful what I wish for? LMAO.

I've asked you to provide me with concrete data about how many professors in FL have these lavish packages you're whining about; how many of them are retiring early through Drop and living easy?

So far, you've linked to 8 or 9 fluff pieces that have little to do with professors at all, and none in FL.

Not only that, you don't even know what those people are getting those pensions for. You're just whining.

Yeah, you really showed me, LOL.

Problem for me is I think we should take it to court no matter what.

I understand the sentiment but if we get time served. I am fine with it lets just play ball and recruit without this BS hovering over us

That would be unfortunate. I'm with 420. We played the game with unusual integrity and cooperation unlike USC, OSU and others. We admitted to problems and self imposed severe penalties. What we didn't know was that the NCAA wasn't interested in anything other then permanently wrecking our University. They got their marching orders from Emmert himself at their Fall retreat. I am convinced that if there was any way they could have imposed the death penalty they would have. They need to pay a price for that and the only way that can happen is to sue them for damages. For what it's worth I heard from a prominant trustee that the NCAA is also afraid that Donna may call in some chips from her Washington connections which are substantial.

Most of them are professors who moved up, or should i say criminals. And yes many are professors now, you chose not to read the truth. I've showed you out of whack pay, drop scams, sick time scams, and pensions scams, you choose to turn a blind eye. I can see you don't care about anyone but yourself, what a wonderful person you have become.

lol at this! ''Florida has a number of state college and university employees in its legislature.''

Now it all makes sense how the criminals get to steal so much. They put monkeys in charge of the zoo's.

At least someone can see putting the prisoners in charge of the jail does not work... lol

''Florida State Senator John Thrasher has introduced a bill into the Florida legislature that would ban state college and university employees from being state legislators.

http://blog.independent.org/2012/01...versity-employees-from-the-state-legislature/

Imagine, Many people worry about the petty thief more than they do the thieves stealing the most money, how sada. Petty thief steals a 50 dollar bike, the college professor and his gang of thieves steal, 500k to a million in one year. Wake up people.
