A few things

and @Ernie & Tpo.... Ernie is talking about how missing on lane, Sony, and cook is the reason we won't win national championships. In 2002, we signed 7/10 top kids in south Florida. How many rings did that class win? Now look at contributors from 1998-2001 from south Florida, look where they were ranked, and ask yourself how many rings did they win.

You guys are putting too much stock into the 'top ten' from south Florida nonsense. No matter what site it comes from. At the end of the day the sites aren't infallible and you can see this. In 2008, I don't think you could ask for a better south Florida class. Looked what happened. Evaluations > Stars. This past summer when Jackson committed everyone was mad at golden, now people are fearful to lose him.

It's December, just relax.

LMAO

What are you saying, that Cook, Sony, Lane aren't legit Miami caliber players? That we're better off losing them? Delusional.

No I'm not. I'm saying what I posted.

In 1998-2001 did we land 6 or 7 kids out of the 'top ten' kids in south Florida every year? No. Did we still go on to win a nc in 2001. Yes. More to recruiting than star rankings is what I'm trying to get through your head. I never said those guys aren't a big loss, but to act like we can't recover from it is just ignorant.

Last year was a disappointment, no matter how you twist it. But to say this class is a failure....because we only have 5 out of the top ten kids is a joke.

FSU had an average class ranking of 5, per 247 sports, over the last three years. Auburn had a ranking of around 10. Now they're on their way to a NC. Right now our ranking is 5th. Depending on our finish, if we recruit at this level over the next three years we will be in a good position.

You guys are melting down before these kids even make a decision. Just relax.

Aren't you 16? Can you even name five players from the 1998 team?

No I'm 5.

But mike rumph, Santana moss, marquis Johnson, Morgan, and V.C.

One thing in all this bull**** is perfectly clear: the same group of ******** that made the main board unreadable are having the same impact here.

Fact. Not a rumor. No need for an insider.

Yeah it sucks. This board was great in its infancy. Now that it got big, its a competition who can say the most outlandish stuff, who can have the best schtick, etc.

If we keep losing the top player in South Florida year after year it is a failure. There's 2 elite running backs down here--we probably won't get one. We're about to lose a WR we've been recruiting harder than any other WR all year. That's a failure and the coaches would tell you the same **** thing, that it's a failure when you don't get your top targets.

Have all of those kids signed their LOIs? My point isn't that losing those kids aren't a failure, because it is, I'm referring to the class as a whole. I do not believe this class is a failure with all the talent we have in it.

And yearby isn't an elite running back in your eyes? Honest question

This isn't 1998. It's much harder for a kid to hide or slip through the cracks if he's an elite level of talent.

I used that point just to start my post tho. Only because he wants to talk about recruiting and championships. The main focus of my post is it's going to take 3 more classes like the one we have in 2014 for us to have the same talent level as FSU and the same depth as FSU.

And that's apparent by the projected front 7 for next year.

This^

The Ed Reed, Reggie Wayne, Santana Moss argument is irrelevant now because of social media and the level of exposure these kids now get

Dixon didn't commit. Maybe he surpirses everyone and comes to Miami, but it's not looking that way is it?

Doesn't matter if we offered Treon at QB, he's still a top 5 kid and him not coming here but going to FSU is a miss.

Those other kids you mentioned are good prospects but not the top 10 kids in South Florida. I'm going by rivals and not Miami fanboy bent logic.

Lol ok so you go by rivals fine. Lets take another angle.

247 top ten prospects in south Florida

1. Cook - Gator
2. Lane - Gator
3. Kc - Cane
4. Valentine - Cane
5. Sony - UGA
6. Rudolph
7. Darling - Cane
8. Yearby - Cane
9. Thomas - Cane
10. Dixon

Then, if you look at Florida's top 100 prospects, we have 7 more prospects from South Florida alone committed to us. 12 south Florida kids in the top 100 is pretty good to me. Then add other Florida kids like Owens, Harris, Gibbons, etc. Then mix it in with OOS kids like Young, Jenkins, Berrios, etc.

Also I forgot Rudolph was committed as well since we already missed on him.

While its not looking good for Rudolph or Dixon at the moment, it wasnt looking good for coley or Howard at the time either. Reserve judgement till the LOI's are in. Dixon is a 50/50 shot between us and OSU. I bet Dixon will flip flop between the two schools a couple times before he makes his final decision this weekend.

OK fine, say we have 4 or 5 out of the top 10 committed. That's still not good enough. Maybe that bums everyone out but then they need to get thicker skin.

LMAO at that dude asking for fake news as long as it's good. Grow some thicker skin ppl.

It is what it is.

We're not recruiting well enough right now to win a national title, and that's what we all want. The talent is down here this year but if we want a championship team that means closing on guys like Sony and Cook and Rudolph and Lane and Dixon etc.

Championships are won and lost right now. Recruiting season.

You're just new to recruiting. Go back to the classes from 1998-2001, and tell me if we got all 10 of south Florida's best players.

The earliest Rivals goes back to is 2002.

1. Nate Harris - Miami
2. Nate Salley - Ohio State
3. Max Jean Gilles - Georgia
4. Terrell Walden - Miami
5. Baraka Atkins - Miami
6. Terrell McGill - LSU
7. Kareem Brown - Miami
8. Darnell Jenkins - Miami
9. Glenn Sharpe - Miami
10. Alex Pou - Miami

That's 7/10.

Where did you get your numbers 1-10 from?

The other thing is that that was hardly a stellar group. Not one of those seven players that became Canes was listed among the top ten players at his position on Scout (I agree that rivals is better, but scout has all the info in one place, so it was easy for me to find). I don't remember any of them being a high draft pick. As much as anything, the list recalls the fact that Coach Coker seemed to be a catalog shopper.

Santana today wouldnt be hidden by a predominantly run based team, he would transfer out and go to a spread power house. Even if he stayed he would get exposure from the million camps, school camps, rivals, 7 on 7 circuits, etc.

The system is wayyy different and guys get out way more now. Plus ALOT more coaches down here looking, we got guys from Wisky, Arky, Syracuse, Mich St, Hawaii, etc (these are the other guys not even big boys) trying to make a name for themselves.

You guys are losing it with this circa 98 shtick, cmon. You not fooling anybody who really follows this stuff.

Al Golden is building a Championship football program here.... its a Process.

/ no worries from me

// Golden's the next Butch Davis or Jimmy Johnson or a super clone of both...... Butch Johnson = AL GOLDEN

Could be...but it took Butch 6 years to fix the mess Erickson left him, and this fanbase flew a banner calling for him to be fired.

Not enough info for a new Work, but here are a few things I thought I'd pass along.

**Dalvin Cook is telling people that FSU is his pick right now. The longer his recruitment goes, the better for Miami's chances. Miami is aware that they still trail and will not give up.

**The Ohio State talk with Johnnie Dixon continues getting stronger and stronger. Miami is not giving up, but they do not feel confident.

**I started a thread on this, but take Claude Pelon off your lists.

**Names are re-emerging daily on the board from earlier in the process, so keep your eyes open for that

Andrew Beck now that Mack is out of the picture?

YAY!!! GOLDEN'S THE BEST

The first day on the practice field, all the stars go away, and they start from scratch and earn it. For every hit on the top ten list, there generally is 6-7 failures (complete), and 2 that end up being a bit above average.

The problem on here is some people just can't accept the fact that certain kids from So. Fla do not want to play for a program that is no longer perceived as a National Power. Back in 2002 we landed all of those recruits because we were a powerhouse program coming off of a MNC. Now we are a team who hasn't won a bowl game since 06. A lot of these guys would rather play in the prestigious SEC, which has won 8 championships in a row.

Of that list of top 10 players that were posted everyone of them is committed to the SEC or a cane except for Harris, whom we chose not to offer at QB.
