And for every 5’7” dB that makes it there are 75 that don’t. Let’s not act like every small kid is going to pan out. Heck even in the case of bandy, we haven’t seen enough yet to say he’s not gonna get abused by bigger guys at some point. It doesn’t mean he’s not a take but if it’s between him and a similar guys who’s 3-4” taller for one spot. Your probably taking the bigger body.
I hear you BUT with all due respect, for every 6'-2" guy that makes it there are also 75 that don't. There are more 6'2" college corners than you & I can count, that get abused by bigger guys
& smaller ones at some point.
I do hear what you're saying... but I think that anyone who focuses on someone's size VERSUS someone's actual ability to handle his position and do his job, does his team a grave disservice.
IF Couch consistently gets the job done and mind you he was at an UA event featuring some of the best receivers in the nation, holding them to one catch and we're gonna hold up our nose like that doesn't signify major talent!!?? Then there is something wrong with us NOT him. Btw he received an invite to the UA game and was named one of the outstanding players.
Good to see that there is NOTHING WRONG with our staff. Because we're after him with a hard-on, just like Michigan and Tennessee et al.......
all of whom play several teams with big-bodied WR's.
Yes I'll admit in some circumstances size can size can be an advantage or disadvantage especially on goal line situations. But the same disadvantage can be said for that 6'2" guy because he'll have a similar problem guarding a smaller shiftier WR.s in the open field. So what does it really boil down to? Its always about your talent. As for being abused, I've seen innumerable taller DB's getting abused and owned on the field by receivers of all sizes..
Size never kept the Redskins Daryl Green from consistently being an ALL-Pro DB in a league full of bigger WR's. Seriously doubt they ever viewed him as a liability throughout his star-studded HOF career. As usual, it boils down to who has the best talent. DG is NOT alone, there have been numerous short DB's that have excelled in College and in the Pro's, it s not an anomaly, its all about can you do the job.
So if its between two guys with different sizes One bigger One smaller?.....I'll always go with the One ( regardless of his size) who more consistently gets the job done i.e. has more talent. So let the BEST MAN win...not just the one who is bigger
