$10M per year to Mario - make the offer now

We can do better than Mario.

People say that every year, yet Miami continues winding up with a Shannon, Golden, over-the-hill Richt, or Diaz.

This ain't the desirable gig our fans think it is. Hasn't been in decades. Private school with off-campus stadium, 11K undergrads, minimal fan support in an "event" town / non-sports town.

Most college football coaches what a college football coaching experience for them and their families; the pageantry, the alum, the packed stadiums and events—biggest show in town and undying support.

Coming to Miami and playing second fiddle to the entertainment, beaches, nightlife and pro sports element—this isn't a job for the masses.

Mario is a Miamian and knows what he's getting into and he's literally the most-qualified guy who would take the job. One of the hottest up-and-coming coaches out there, won some big games at Oregon on the gate and is delivering.

Pass on him for who—where are these "better than Mario" candidates kicking down UM's door to take over. Please.

They're all the same guy but just in different racial iterations. Shannon, Golden & Diaz. Our next corch will obviously be an Asian bum.
I don't think they're anywhere near the same guy. They're all fails. They were all bad hires. Very different people, though. Race isn't part of this to me.

Not only that, but over the last 2 years of the pandemic, the rich have gotten richer. The Trustees are swimming in cash.

Here's what you do. There are nearly 100 Trustees. Tell every single one of them to write a check for a million dollars. That will cover all their past fvck-ups and guarantee their continued tenure as a Trustee.

Now you have $100M to hire Mario and a staff (and an AD), and the Trustees have clean consciences after years of misguided loyalty to Coker and his horrible (late-stage) hirees, Shannon and his paranoia, Golden and his stubbornness, Richt and his declining health, Manny's "bet on himself", and Beta Blake's "bet on Manny". Not to mention Hocvnt and the Shermanator.

Clear the decks. All old Corleone family business will be settled. Fire Beta Blake and Manny and give Mario a clear runway to come in for his landing.
You were preaching.

Amen, brother. I've tried to tell people that the money is there and we just need to WANT to spend it.

And that we have to invest in someone (or ones) who can restore the culture that our Athletic Department and sports teams need.

And that we can't get cute on buyouts or payouts or annual salary. The price of poker is going up. ****, Michigan State just set a benchmark. The same school that lost Saban to LSU.

I'm tired of people talking about what we've done for the past 20 years. We have to make the changes to survive, otherwise we die.

Serious question do you think Mario will even consider coming here? This is the hardest head coaching gig in college football. Irrational fan base who will only give you a handful of years to win a championship before the banners start flying over the stadium, horrible administration who are content with being mediocre and could give dos mierdas about championships as long as we keep them ACC checks rolling in, we don’t spend the necessary money to pay for the elite recruits and to also keep up with the jonses, horrible coaching salaries to lure elite recruiters and coaches, local kids with zero community pride that would rather go elsewhere to make other programs elite, soft loser mentality culture that can’t even do the basics like tackling or catching the football on money downs, half filled stadium (if we’re lucky) that’s 15 miles away from campus, and we have become a laughing stock of college football who teams don’t even respect or fear who choke in big games. Not only that but most importantly why on Gods green Earth would he EVER leave Oregon ESPECIALLY to come here when he can dominate the PAC 12 year in and year out without any serious competition in that conference creating a chance for an easy path to the playoffs every year in a water downed conference similar to Clemson in the ACC. Plus having unlimited support and funds because of Phil Knights ridiculous wealth. I just personally don’t see how he would even consider that move unless he is insane or loves UM so much he’s willing to risk an opportunity to have an epic run with the Ducks. I guess if he does make that insane decision when he gets fired in 2-3 years for not winning a championship he can always go back to Sabans rehabilitation college farm team coaching program to become a winner and hot commodity again so he can get another shot at another winning program. I will have my fingers crossed and pray he makes that mistake because I can’t deal with Manny and his soft *** loser mentality culture that he’s instilled with players that can’t even tackle a pee wee football runt and also a team full of stone hands from the movie “Unnecessary Roughness”. I really do love Manny and wished so bad he could have been the guy because I truly believe he is a perfect coach for Miami personally and swag wise but it’s obviously not going to work out with how poorly the team prepares and executes each and every game. As always GO CANES till I DIE!!!!!

😐😒

this video here.... this is why I want Cristobal. It says it all for me. He's a guy who will bring the grit and character back to this program. Something that Manny simply can't do, and was never truly about. He is smoke, mirrors and gimmicks. Cristobal is about substance. He will frustrate us at times with his game/clock management, but over time if you keep doing the right thing over and over again, and be consistent -- great things can happen.

But he's a real coach. As far as Im concerned, at this point, him being a former Hurricane is basically secondary for me. The guy has worked his way up the ladder, had success and has also failed, learned from legends, run his own programs, is just entering his coaching prime

To me, he checks all the boxes.
