I don’t think it’s an average unit. I think most teams in America would take our guys, save a handful like Texas A&M and Utah.

But they are definitely underperforming. The penalties are killing us every game.
I’ll give you above average. But they are far from elite. They are only elite at 1 out of 3 phases, and they’re flat out awful (discipline) to mediocre (run blocking) elsewhere. That’s not acceptable for a supposed OL savant.

It’s the best pass protecting unit in America. Bar none.

It’s struggling in run push. Notably on short yardage. Maybe give them a little help by not running on 26 consecutive 3rd/4th and shorts, as we have over the past 4 weeks? But what do I know?

that was the biggest lie told. no shot beck gets picked in the mid rounds. hes slow, cant read a defense, and weak arm
Right after... Miami being self-aware... not 10+ years into Mario's head coaching life... they cannot be both self aware and think no changes can be made for the last 4 games... Coaches make adjustments mid-game -- including Mario dialing it back.

Agreed. OP says 3 of 5 blanks in the Wall of Mirabal are broken --- therefore NOT elite.

How do you have a coach who is supposedly a huge hard *** disciplinarian and you’re last in the nation in penalties. I just found out from this article that there’s 134 teams.

If we kick the penalties we’d have beat smu. Probably not loserville cause Beck was becking that day
We killed 3-4 drives with penalties

Had we hired Lane Kiffin, and gave him the same resources we would not be having these issues
LOL - I'll never get this Lane infatuation. He's had 2 losses once and 3+ every other year and literally had the 2nd most talented roster last year, and didn't make the playoffs.

You should switch your *****ing to wanting Cignetti since he's actually accomplished something

3) Lastly, you know, I know, we all know that "let it rip" is coachspeak for "we'll sprinkle a few new plays here and there". At the end of the day, Mario ain't a "let it rip" coach. His 10+ years as HC tell us as much.
agree with everything you wrote especially this.

The other possibility is they’ll “open up” the offense with some new plays and tempo (snapping the ball with 11 seconds left instead of 1) against Cuse but the 1st second of any adversity and it’s back to the turtle shell never to be seen again.

Despite the obvious roster flaws (and that’s on Mario, obviously), this team is still far and away the most talented in the lowly ACC. The gap continues to grow as FSU and Clemson are in the dumps. Yet we coach these games like we have no discernible advantage. Make it make sense.

what should/can Dawson do to help him?
Nothing.

He already simplified & stripped down the Offense to its bare bones.

Beckson just needs to make better decisions.

Every Offense that he's played in has been designed to protect his poor decision making. When he was under Mike Bobo, it was an extremely simplistic West Coast Pro-style, that was predicated on half field one read progressions, and he still threw 12 picks.

What a lot of you guys just aren't understanding is that Beck is not the QB he was presented to you all to be. He's been carried for his whole college career & as soon as he lost the NFL caliber talent surrounding him, he got exposed.

This is who Beck is.

It is not even Lofton, our TEs whiff on every run block. Bauman is horrible at run blocking. Lofton is horrible at run blocking. How is our coach Cristobal and Mirabal and we have there great offensive lines and our TEs are dog **** about hitting the guy in front of them? Do you think they could branch out and work with the TEs some?

Are they self-aware though? My takeaway from that excerpt is that cleaning up the penalties will allow them to keep doing what they’ve been doing, which would be the wrong answer.

**** they are so stuck in their ways that they won’t even attempt to change snap counts or cadence despite every team very clearly and purposefully doing DL shifts to draw our OL offsides. It’s worked every game. How do you not help your guys out when it happens. Every. *******. Game?

Short yardage how do you not try to draw them offsides occasionally and use the defenses aggression against them? JFC Blay leads the nation in offsides and he’ll do it on 2nd and 40.

I’d take Cignetti as well, but Lane did not have the 2nd most talented roster last year.
