The CIS myths are wild man. This team is mid and was hyped up as one of the best teams in America. maybe Mario’s teams wear down because of how they practice. You can do that **** in Alabama when you have 5 stars as backups. Everywhere else that **** takes a toll.

I think part of it is also the style we play keeps games so close that starters don’t get a chance to rest which also means back ups miss out on valuable game time experience

I think its either two things, Beck is not fully healthy to throw the deep ball, or they dont trust him to throw deep.

The comments on the run game are spot on. There is more variety than the average fan notices but the predictability in short yardage would be hilarious if I wasn’t a fan of this team. I mean we ran into an 11 man box on fourth and short against SMU. Unless you’re running with the quarterback, you’re blocking 11 with 9.

The idea that you can just overpower better coached teams has been proven wrong.

Yea the let it rip quote isn't moving the needle.

Cristobal stop with this endless time loop of cheddar bob moments with penalties.it might have happen but i Never really seen him when it's actually needed call a timeout, refocus the team when one too many penalties happen at the wrong time.shi, use the time out cuss these refs out too , after all UM is his Alma mater and he should fight for it against these refs.

That's cool they acknowledge that the fans are correct when it comes to criticism of the team.ranging from all phases from O,D, and ST.

But what is coach going to do? I mean he used the term" adapt or dying" on the path McAfee show and its ironic he is doing exactly what he said on both fronts.

He has adapted to the NIL and portal era, that's true but it seem like he wants to die with this plodding pound the rock philosophy.

The blocking scheme comments are concerning. I’m no OL expert but our OL is huge compared to most ACC DLs, we should be getting push and driving guys forward not standing them up..smh

Similar to our whole offensive philosophy, if your scheme takes away the advantages you have (Size and length at OL, speed on the outside) then it no longer becomes an advantage

Great write up D, but I highly doubt things will change. Especially since it sounds like penalties is what they’re most focused on. That’s a big problem but the elephant in the room problem is Mario needs to change his coaching approach and philosophy starting at the OL and that will never happen

It worked with Cam ward because Cam made things happen, but 90% of QBs need a system that helps make them better
Seems like Cam audible a lot, out of bad plays. Looks like Beck, like he said, I just run what they called.

What does it say about Mario that his supposed greatest strength (OL) is just an average unit 4 years in? While they’re elite at pass pro, they’re mediocre to bad in other phases - run blocking and discipline.

Mirabal is the most overrated coach in modern memory. Everyone beats off to his ability to develop diamonds in the rough. Who exactly has he developed here? Anez cooper is his best case study, and he’s just a solid player, not some all conference level guy. And for every cooper, there’s been 5+ Antonio Tripp types who never see the field.
Agreed. I think Mirabal has handcuffed Dawson. This is all on Mario. Fire Mirabal. Open the **** play book. Beck is a winner if he is allowed to.

This will never happen…never! This would be a pride swallowing move and I just don’t think Mario has the humility to keep his hands off the offense.
sadly, I agree....... the only way he can achieve his goals is to out talent every team he plays & that is impossible in this era

Or at least go 4 wide and spread the field? Opening drive against Stanford, they went 4 wide, was successful, then they got into the red zone, and puff, back in tight, and bring in Lyle, then stuff.
Schott is fast enough to play Y in the 4 wide sets then have him play HB the next play. It is all about getting mismatches, four wide works because it gets teams out of the box and lighter with more DBs, the first drive also ran faster because it was scripted.

Why would there be?

The are working on fixing the penalties as the top priority. This tells me that they don’t think what they are doing needs to change. Just need to execute
A lot of the penalties, come from that slow *** pace (lack of Tempo). Line up and go, get into a rhythm, the reason we don't looked explosive is because we play in a phone booth. We had no problem going over the top against FSU. If we weren't explosive folks wouldn't be in cover 3, 95% of the time.

  • Most of the season we have had no variety in the run game.
  • Recently we added a little variety. We spread it out a bit in the SMU game.
  • However, when the game was tight in the 4th quarter, we reverted right back to heavy sets and runs up the middle.
  • Why is our offense focused so much on inside runs when our center gets blown up every play? Know your players and game plan accordingly.
  • Ok, our TEs are bad blockers. Why do we run so many jumbo sets with 85 OL and TEs then? If the TEs can't block don't utilize a running game that relys so heavily on them. Know your players and game plan accordingly.
There was a thread the other day that said...serious question, is Mario stupid? Isn't it common sense that if you don't have blocking TEs to not rely on them heavily in the run game? Mario seems intent to play a certain way no matter what. That's stupid.
