I'm starting to think we should go:

LT - St. Louis
LG - Boulware
C - Gauthier
RG - Donaldson
RT - Scaife

And next year you lose Gauthier, replace him with Gaynor. Lose St. Louis, replace him with Evan Neal. Get Scaife in there now. He's ready.

Scaife at tackle and Donaldson back at guard fixes most of the online problems or am I wrong? Really asking for your opinion on the best online combo pls

Scaife at LT, St. Louis to RT, Donaldson back to G probably puts the best OL on the field. Scaife is a freshman and they could be hesitant to make that change for a couple of reasons.

1. They could've promised St. Louis/Donaldson the T spots and want to have them clearly play their way out of the spot.

2. They could be worried that Scaife will miss a line call that could cause a big sack.

It'll be interesting to see if they decide to make any changes.

Donaldson hasn't regressed he's simply out of position, I see no reason why he doesn't go back inside if Scaife keeps playing the way he is. Freshman or not make him the LT push St. Louis back over to RT where he performed well last year and move Donaldson back to bulldozer where is belongs.

Isnt McCloud's responsibility the QB here? Or is it the RB and 55 got rubbed out so 53 got confused?

No, McCloud has the RB outside. It's really a case where McCloud was a little flat-footed and if he steps up with an outside angle he probably forces the pitch and can run it down. Shaq has the cutback though.

I actually think you move St. Louis back to RT (natural position) & roll with Scaife at LT. Hate starting an undersized true freshman on QB's blind side but he's athletic & scrappy enough to get a hat on a guy every play... help with Jordan when needed.

Absolutely man. Donaldson and Louis playing out of position. Louis suck at LT and burn going to eat him alive if he doesn’t get right. Donaldson just seems lost at there. Scaife is balling so is Boulware. Our oline starters should be
LT-Scaife
LG-No neck Boulware
C-Gauthier
RG-Donaldson(HE IS A GUARD ON EVERY LEVEL)
RT-Louis

This lineup gives our running back rooms to run and protect our future at QB

@Lance Roffers thank you for doing this analysis as always. By far the best and most relevant content on any Miami Hurricanes bored.

You pointed out a lot of reasons why you thought we would beat North Carolina by a good margin, but I'm not certain 3 defensive touchdowns was one of them.

While I'm extremely happy with some of Diaz's adjustments and awareness that led to this success, I do find it a little concerning that the offensive line is not more of a finished product at this point of the season.

As you pointed out, with better play along the offensive line, the game is put away in a more comforting and traditional fashion heading into this rivalry game.

Great Write up! Will read the Defense write up tomorrow, thanks for splitting them up..

so Boulware and Scaife, the two olinemen with the fewest time with searles, are our best two. go figure.

Love how Perry squares his shoulders down field and scans the field when rolling out. Never seemed like Malik did that and it would turn in to a qb run.

That roll out throw to Harley on the sideline was great.

The morale of the story is less Mahoney / Jones and more Boulware / Scaife.

Sometimes I wonder if this staffs takes gameday performances into account when deciding starters. We continue to trot out players we hear do great in practice then play like liabilities almost every snap they take in games. It was like that with Feagles, Rosier, Delaney, Linda, then you have the current dudes like Knowles, Mahoney, Jahir, etc. Those guys have limited ceilings and does not really help the current or future. All they're doing is taken up reps from players that could be good to great players.

I messed up on the play that St. Louis got beaten on the spin and Perry fumbled and posted a defensive picture. My fault.

Unacceptable!! We pay big money for this material and you..... wait, that’s right we great this free. Never mind, great work.

Hey Lance. At this point do you think Donaldson even deserves to start? It doesn't sound he'd be a great guard either. Your breakdowns are just littered with Donaldsons name and it gets tired waiting for anything to be positive about him. Terrible bend, can't hit linebackers in space, too slow against the speed rush, losing balance, lack of power in initial punch and now on a double team. He sounds terrible when you break him down.

I like your thinking going forward, but I’d put Scaife at LT and St. Louis back at RT. These breakdown have more than shown that St. Louis is vulnerable to ANY move a DE makes to the inside of him and he cannot pick up stunts. Too many mistakes for a LT, some of them would have lesser consequences if he were on the right. Plus his chemistry with Donaldson would be renewed.

That roll out throw to Harley on the sideline was great.

Malik could not throw on the run/outside the pocket to save his life--whether designed roll out or on a scramble. Kayaa could throw on a designed rollout but, if he was flushed out of the pocket, there was a zero percent chance of completion. It's been years since I had even a modicum of hope that a pass would be completed once our QB was on the move and outside the pocket. What a breath of fresh air.

I know U asked Lance specifically but I think Donaldson’s issues at RT go away at RG. His positioning and angles of blocks change immediately at RG. Those LBs are much closer to him at RG and he won’t have to move but so far to reach them while their eyes are in the backfield and then 💥. The demand on his need to bend, handle speed rushers and balance all change at RT.

One of the things that doesn't seem to get mentioned a lot is that we are very rarely committing penalties under this coaching staff, and I think that is a direct result of playing some of these guys who maybe aren't the best physically, but have shown in practice that they know what to do on every play and are consistent down after down.

In our last season under Al Golden, we ranked dead last averaging 9.8 penalties per game. Since then:

2016 - 109th - 7.4 ppg
2017 - 34rh - 5.1

Through 5 games this season we're ranked 25th with 5.0 penalties per game, and that's with a terrible game to open the season in which we looked jittery and awestruck in every phase of the game, but were especially sloppy in the penalty department committing 11. In the 4 games since? We've averaged 3.5 penalties per game, good enough for 4th nationally over that same time frame.

All great points but St Louis does the same **** every week

All in all this should be a pretty sobering post headed into FSU.

Yes everyone keeps talking about how we should beat their asses, but if they control the LOS it's gonna be a fight
