Scaife at LT, St. Louis to RT, Donaldson back to G probably puts the best OL on the field. Scaife is a freshman and they could be hesitant to make that change for a couple of reasons.

1. They could've promised St. Louis/Donaldson the T spots and want to have them clearly play their way out of the spot.

2. They could be worried that Scaife will miss a line call that could cause a big sack.

It'll be interesting to see if they decide to make any changes.

First, Based on my experience, with the OL, having even a single guy out of position makes the whole unit worse.

Second, to emphasize the point above, 55 is NOT a RT. Period. It makes Mahoney less effective next to him, notwithstanding 62's limitations, which, if you had a strong RT next to him, could be minimized.

Third, 78 is NOT a LT. I'd like to try him on the right side. The biggest hit I ever took in college was in game where our left tackle whiffed on an X stunt, and I had the grass from the Yale Bowl in my teeth for a week and a half. hence, I'm overly sensitive to weak LT play.

Fourth, 62 has graded out the best of the OL since spring practice? I don't get it. What am I missing?

All that being said, I'd run with:

LT - Scaife
LG - Boulware
C- Gauthier
RG - Donaldson
RT - St. Louis

Mahoney the first guy off the bench.

Anyway, that's my take. Lance, your write-ups, by the way, are excellent. Thank you for all your hard work and dedication.

@Lance Roffers do you honestly think the coaches will make the change here and how do they not see this terrible online play?? I mean maybe they are working Scaife in like they did perry 🤷🏽‍♂️

All in all this should be a pretty sobering post headed into FSU.

Yes everyone keeps talking about how we should beat their asses, but if they control the LOS it's gonna be a fight

Yep. FSU's strength (DL) is our weakness (OL). Baloney struggles against big strong dudes - FSU has those in droves. Jahairball just struggles in general. ND struggles with speed - Burns has that plenty. So how do we account for this? Boulware has to play more and I do wish we'd try ND at RG some but we won't. So, I think we're stuck with Baloney and Jones/Boulware, unfortunately.

I agree in that that's the ideal lineup but OL needs continuity. That's a LOT of Kehoe shuffling around to have ANY continuity, no?

The coaches haven't played St Louis at RT this year which means to me that if they were thinking of playing Scaife at LT and StLouis at RT, wouldn't we have seen that lineup yet (and ND to RG)? We haven't, which tells me the coaches are set at having ND at RT and St Louis at LT. thoughts?
